And if the team is ever going to play to the coaches game plan the first 40 minute of the first game of the season has to be when they show it after practising it all off season

Correct, under stress (and perhaps panic) they would default to an easier option. Only experienced players will push on with the harder successful game plan.

Unfortunately there is still an element of Covid recruitment, Take whatever's left on the shelves (Peachy). This is changing...
In 2022, I'm looking some of the younger guys to get some more games of experience and for effort and improvement in attitude.
Its always to rant and rave and end up with more of the same.

I didn't know Gould had said that,
But i do remember clearly that during the coaches interviewing process, Gould saying this about Cleary to the WT "sign him up now"

Who knows if it's him or them,
Any coach worth his slat in the last 20 years has claimed if we get our Defence right - Attack will come off the back of it.
Defence and attitude in Defence seems to be on the up - For the first time in a long time...

He has been really really poor. The thing is he can play. His discipline is terrible. We need to cull players like that out of team or he needs a massive attitude adjustment.
I think Madge is doing okay especially in relation to our cap. If you look at the Dogs who outbid us they aren't performing and they must have paid overs and under the table payments.
I think Madge though has to sort out our spine and our attack. I view our spine as our biggest issue and it's the coaches job to fix it.
There is no way I'd sack Madge now though. I don't see the upside.

A new coach may just get us some improved performances, jag a few wins and have the team play an attractive/expansive style of footy as a positive build up for next season. He may also have the opportunity to review the rooster moving into 2023. I cannot see any downside to changing the coach after this start to the season (and this is his fourth).

Tell Madge now, you won't be here after this year.
Last thing you want is Madge making decisions under the gun. If he feels he's under pressure, he'll make short term decisions and next thing you know the next coach will be blaming that for the next 3 years.

I was a Cleary supporter and believe him when he was telling all the lies about how he was going to honour his contract and so on, but looking back on it now you can tell he was lying the whole time.
I thought we were a hope of improving with him around and I guess at the time I just didn't want to believe that he was a lying scum bag even though it was fairly obvious. I guess it must run in the family because you only have to look at his lying Tiktok dancing son and his best mate Tyrone May to see what kind of people they are.

I was the same, thought he was being honest with us. There were a few games close on the scoreboard which lead me to think he was getting the best from the playing group. But I started to lose faith when he told us the club couldn’t afford to keep all of Tedesco, Woods, Moses and Brooks. I always thought they would play origin together.
Then he goes to market signing a few kiwi mates on big dollars?

Ivan Cleary might not have worked out at Penrith, but the man who let him go and Channel Nine commentator Phil Gould believes he would be the perfect fit for the vacant coaching position at Wests Tigers provided he is up for another challenge.
Speaking with fellow commentator James Bracey on the latest edition of "Six Tackles with Gus" for 9Podcasts, Gould said that the Tigers needed a coach like Cleary who has forged a reputation in the NRL for rebuilding clubs from the ground up.
"I think it's the perfect fit for Wests Tigers," Gould said.
"He would be my number one candidate if I was looking for a coach".
"The decision's probably Ivan's, 'Do I want to go through that again? And if I look at the club and where they are at the moment are those four players going to commit? What have wegot coming through the lower grades? How long's it going to take to get this side competitive?'
"But NRL coaching jobs don't come up very often, and he's a tough bugger Ivan. I don't think he'd back away from that sort of challenge so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was offered to him that he took the job."
He was quoted at the time of saying. Ivan Cleary would be perfect for the tigers, I’m just not sure if the tigers are perfect for Ivan Cleary.

He most certainly didn’t endorse the tigers to Ivan Cleary it was round the other way.
I have to agree with your post batboy....but the one thing that baffles me is that when the team do well everybody is full of hype and praise for the players...when the players consistently make dumb plays,lose the ball,give cheap penalties away every week and dont complete the sets and lose the game...then Madge has to be sacked...
I thought the players were professional players on big money and should have the basics right even Stefano said in an interview that the losses were "on us"...lack of discipline and control,he also said Madge gives us all the tools and support to win games....sounds unfair to sack the coach when 90% of the failures come from the players,....just saying.....

It’s possible, and probable that Gould said all of that stuff. One of the problems we had back then was with a certain player manager and more likely the reason we lost some good players contrary to what Ivan told us, we couldn’t afford them, because we spent as much of the cap replacing them.
