He is playing what a few short years ago was the jersey Flegg grade…..three grades below first grade.

He isnt a first grader yet, but he has the skills, if someone has the patience to develop him.

So much impatience these days, everythings now now now yesterday

But he's a better option than Ayshford, Fulton and Lawrence in the halves, is he not?

The standard of this competition is well below 1st Grade and at times it is painful to watch.
Most of these guys will never go anywhere near 1st grade. Agree Miler will make 1st grade one day but not in the near future.

Jacob played well today but that's the level he should have been at all year,too times he's taken the wrong option or gone the flash play instead of playing safe.**In this grade Miller should be dominating every week not every so often.**

I don't think that's a fair expectation. It's a big ask for an up and comer to dominate week in week out when he's been on the outter with the first grade team.

If he was playing first grade for those 26 weeks instead of the under twenties, im positive you would have seen a different player.

The stage has alot to do with it. He stepped up when the 20's needed it, now they are making a grand final appearance.

He obviously has the talent. He just needs the opportunity. We've persisted with guys like Morris, Lui, Marshall and gave Moltzen half a game at the start of the year, even oyed with Fulton and Lawrence at five-eight. Now we have a #7 who has been bred through the system - surely it's time to give him a go in First Grade than sending him to NSW Cup.

Look how DCE turned out since he stepped up to First Grade.

Sack Marshall and make Miller and Sirro our first grade halves. Take his salary and throw it off a cliff.

Not as bad as it sounds. Look at cherry Evans and foran now.

Actually it is an idiotic idea. That halves combo would be eaten alive at this stage in first grade. Miller/Marshal though is worth persisting with. If Miller is afforded the same development as Lui he will make it and be a strong player for us in time.

Good post MTD, I agree with most of it….but DCE was sent to QLD cup specifically for a year post NYC, to toughen him up, play with men for a year....dunno if we need that for Miller, just some persistence, patience and faith and a clear development direction.

Game after game, not one game then dropped with Benji to half and center or second rower to 5/8.

Give him some authority and see how he goes.

Most of the great players in our game played well above their weight. If Miller is to be our halfback he needs to be tough and smart.

Also looks like Miller gets under the referee's skin could explain the lopsided penalty counts against the young tigers this season

More reason for us to run 1 team in the NSW Cup and one team in the Qld Cup

If you wanted we could combine with the Brisbane Wests juniors who have a great base , but the seniors went under due to issues in the 90's

Him being the captain probably leads him into giving away more penalties as his very passionate.
Controls the game really well and knows when is the right time to take the line on or to build pressure by his kicking game.
He is definetley 1 for the future , we just need to be patient .

He got one crack this year, in a team with two forwards on the bench, slaughtered by a raiders team that ran thru us like we were stuck in quicksand (Cbra 1650m - WTs 900m)- yeh his fault

There are two things I like about Miller that he has shown this whole season, and especially showed it on Saturday afternoon.

1\. The kid can lead a team around. He controls the team so well with an effective long kicking game, smart short kicks that get repeat sets, and a passing game that utilises the speed the 20s have out wide. He showed on Saturday that, when it was needed, he was able to throw a freakish cut out pass that lead to points, or in the final stages when scores were close, he controlled the set and got us to the kick. Whether it was applying pressure, scoring points, or grinding out the game, he made some very good choices.
2\. While we need a halfback who is able to control the play between Farah and Benji, Miller also has some tricks in his bag. Like I mentioned above, some of those cut out passes he threw were pretty sweet. Given the opportunity and allowed to play his way, I can see him not only being a good link, but also coming up with some special plays of his own which will only add to our attacking potency, something we lacked heavily this year in the halves

The other issue that will help the Tigers with having Miller at 7 is that it will force Benji to run the ball more often

This is no longer an option as pretty sure the NSWRL stopped any team playing NSW jnr competitions dual listing players in QLD Cup. That is why you seen 3 teams in the QLD Cup finals alligned with the donkeys(Broncos)ps Most Wests jnrs clubs are alligned with the donkeys. The Tigers need to look after their own backyard before venturing into QLD.The problem the Tigers have is recruiting quality players & knowing which jnrs to keep.I think Miller would thrive after spending a season in the UK but clubs want results immediately so they wouldn't allow it.

I'd say give him the chance to "earn" some authority. Jacob has no shortage of self-belief, but talking the talk is not enough. We've got enough of them in first grade already.
