Mitch Moses

Moses would get trampled in defence but at this stage I'm with whoever said that about losing 26-30 or whatever. I just want to like watching us play again.

I think if you are going send them into battle against men in the State cup, just go the whole hog and send them in 1st grade. Although far quicker I think they are protected a little bit better in the top grade as the game is under the microscope so their are less cheap shots. Sometimes the higher the level the easier it is to adapt.

In saying all this,I dont think Potter is a risk taker and if either of them are picked in FG anytime this year,it will be off the bench and only a short taste

From what I'm reading, do people think that Moses should take over from Benji sooner rather than later??

Benji's contract runs out at the end of 2014 doesn't it?

If so, then Moses should be the ready replacement with Brooks making the Halves pairing.

In that case, no contract extension for Benji…....

Correct. They've played their schoolboys football together and you can see in the way they play that they know eachother's games. If we continue with this and keep them playing together in the NSW Cup this year, they'll be ready to rumble in a year or two when they're both 20.

**Mitch Moses is a brilliant player he has loads of confidence and will try anything on the field…I love the way he plays.**
But if he comes into the team and is forced into the Potter way of playing (whatever that is) and is not allowed to play his natural game that will quickly erode that confidence.

This^^^^ is exactly what we need to pull Souths pants down… Someone young and stupid enough to step through and around there big forwards!

No established NRL half or 5/8 would try this for fear of being trampled...

yeah, until mitch _does_ get trampled…. 😕

plus, i dont think we can promote him cause of salary cap.

I dont care if he gets trampled trying… Its not like anyone else in our squad is gona do it based on the last few weeks.

If he gets smashed, he can go back to 20's for another 2 years to lick his wounds!

Im a huge fan of the kid and he has huge potential, but i think he is poor candidate for a really young debut. He has a small frame and I reckon the NRL would take a toll on him.
I think it is a similar situation to Lachlan Coote, Coote was clearly the best player in his age group all the way through and dominated everything all the way through to NYC where along with Barba was a huge stand out.
I think Penrith playing him in first grade too early and he has had his development slowed by it, he has had alot of injuries and altho a pretty good first grader, i reckon he would have been a hell of a lot more if Penrith had waited a year.

I gotta say with all this hype and expectations surrounding Brooks and Moses this past pre-season I was a bit apprehensive about them as many new youngsters have the wind blown up their behinds on here, but at the same time I was excited to finally see them take the field and see it all for myself.

As Moses was injured at the start of the season we had a good opportunity to see Brooks in action without his usual halves partner. A standout is his great kicking game - Now people say Miller has a great kicking game but IMO Brooks' all over Millers. It is definitely his X-Factor attribute. As for the rest of his game though, I felt he was average, he didn't grab me as a player who's a league above the rest and someone who is kicking on first grades door. I did expect a huge improvement when Moses returned from injury and even though he an Moses combined like clockwork, he still only looked OK. Don't get me wrong he's a good player but he just hasn't impressed me as much as I expected YET but I do love the way he and Moses are so in sync, that cross field kick to Moses leaping to catch the ball over the try line is a beautiful thing to watch from the stands thats for sure.

And then there is Moses! Now I go to every game, every week, even interstate and I have to say I LOVE watching this kid play footy.
He is not a big bloke but is as hard as a rock - fearless, gives it 200% even if he's hurting and is outstandingly consistent every week. He has exceptional skills and vision and IS the X-Factor player who can create a play out of nothing to score a freakish solo try to spark his team mates as well as brilliantly set up a team mate to cross over for a try! Then to be moved to halfback and still crucify the opposition says it all…. He is everything a future match winning superstar in the making should be, and then some!

Moses has lived up to all the hype and expectations so far and IMO is the better halves player out of the two and if he keeps playing the way he has been playing he should leap-frog Brooks to a first grade debut.
Bye Bye Benchy Marshall, Hello Mitchell Moses!!

I want to wish both boys all the very best for the future as there's no doubting a successful NRL career is looking pretty bright. Good Luck!

TigerCrib - thanks for that information. Moses sounds like a gun. A couple of questions - does he have a kicking game and when do you think he will be ready to play first grade.

Very true Tigercrib, although Brooks has a good passing game too. Least from what I have seen which is limited. But I wish Moses was 85kg and Brooks 75kg instead of the other way cause I think we need Moses right now more than Brooks.

Moses is a great 5/8 but no half.

A 5/8 can play half in NYC because it is a bit of a niff nuff comp in terms of defence. A 5/8 playing half in NRL is terrible decision making.

Kicked a 40/20 in the first set tonight against Souths. Last week he planted a cross-field kick on a 10c piece for Nofo to scoop up and score in the corner. The next set he put in a chip for himself on the 40m line and regathered to score a magic solo try.

So yes, he has all forms of kicking game down pat!
