Mitch Rein

Not worth the coin he is chasing. He's not worth 300k IMO, and I think we're more concerned with re-signing Taylor rather than a 9.

He was a gun last year a complete dud this year. Aren't we supposedly losing ET because of poor old Robbie.
I would sign the Canberra reserve hooker Kurt Baptiste. Goes hard.

Dragons fans said the same about Trent Merrin !

Rein goes ok …. Better than Ballin IMO

wooooooooooooooooo…A player you might like..

Tell me Geo , he's not a plodder is he Geo ?
Tell me Geo , tell me he's not a plodder !

On the plodder scale based on this year and the 600K he wants Rein is a 2….1 being the highest..

Thanks Geo , thanks for clearing that up !
I will not accept players with a ranking higher than a 3 .
Any player with a ranking of 3 , I'll accept with open arms

Rein won't be a Dragon in 2017

St George Illawarra are headed for a major rebuild of their spine after coach Paul McGregor confirmed Benji Marshall and Mitch Rein won't be at the club next NRL season.

While Marshall has long been resigned to not being offered a new contract by the Dragons, revelations Rein is on the lookout for a new club comes as a surprise.

Rein's management were believed to be at loggerheads for most of the season over the money tabled to remain in Wollongong - speculation McGregor dismissed on Friday.

However, he revealed the club had opted to find a new hooker for 2017, leaving the club without a recognised halfback and rake going into the off-season.

"It's unfair and incorrect some of the money that's been talked about that Mitch wanted, over the 600k mark, and that's certainly not the circumstance," McGregor told Fairfax Media.

"It's a decision by the club that we're moving in another direction and a change for coach and player is what's needed in that position.

"Mitch has been a very good player for a very long time and I wish him all the very best."

He's ok… Pretty tough... Could be worse

liddle will be 14, pray to god that ballin is fine coz we cant have 3 specialist hookers in the top 25

Gof i hope not. This guy is more selfish than Farah. He is a joke of a player. Attention seeker.

You love Robbie don't you.

I dont have much feeling regarding Farah actually. I neither feel positive for him nor negative. He is a selfish player, i think his biggest fans would admit that.

Baptise re-signed with the raiders

We'd be wanting him for next to nothing. I wouldn't be paying good money for him, he seems to reckon he's worth $600K.

That's funny :roll That's more than what Issac Luke is on and he's not close to that level.

Edit: Just read the article and yeah it's BS. Surely someone can't be that deluded lol.

Hasnt had the best year? What's wrong with the Rankin/Liddell combo? Spend the money on a forward or winger? I kinda like what Penrith did with Wallace and see rankin in a similar role.

Fuel on the fire. Does Rein fit the profile of hooker we want?

Rankin is not first grade material irrespective of position. His service from dummy half is abhorrent and he is a weak defender. There is no place for him in our team.

Comparing a player like Wallace to Rankin is ridiculous.

I agree he is not a first grade player but he is who JT is using. (I'm not having a dig at JT)

And you are a 100% right he doesn't hold a candle to Wallace. Mine wasn't a comparison to Wallace on a skill level it was mearlly a positional comparison.

If we make the eight and ballin is not returning or fit can you see JT changing the dummy half structure for 2017?

In an ideal world you would have a dummy half and bring Liddell along.

No to Mitch Rein - thanks.

For 2017, we won't be spending much money on recruiting so I expect JT will substitute Liddle for Halatau building him up over time to play more minutes. Rankin will still be used the same way - any money available should go towards securing ET. I wouldn't expect many changes from JT next season.

In my view before recruiting a hooker, we should be looking for a speedy winger and a centre, and a quality backrower and one of them needs to be able to kick goals at 80% plus.
