good playmaker, so clubs will chase him. Newcastle may come in with a big offer for either brooks or moses.

If playing with a strong club in the hope of winning a premiership is the main objective then heading off to Newcastle ain't likely. The Hunter Mariners have got more chance of winning a premiership than the Knights have at this point in time.
Huge doses of money does make people do strange things though.

I think the newy spine is now sorted with Hodgkinson, mamo and now the nth qld dude.. Ponga I think? They're bound to play him in 6.

Yeah it ain't likely… But this year's premiers won the spoon only 2 years ago... So not impossible

Jake Mamo?
He's hardly a part of the spine…

He's probably super league bound also.

I think they see their future spine as:

1\. Ponga
6\. Mullen (then Lamb)
7\. Hodkinson (then Cogger)
9\. Levi

I wasn't saying he would go, i was just saying that its likely that even newcastle will table a big offer.

Rothfield hates the WT…enough said....I caught up with Benny Elias at a function last month and Elias(Mosses uncle) said he aint going anywhere

Well we can all relax then.
After all, there wouldn't be a more reliable source than Good Old Benny

Lol. Money Elias would tell his nephew to take the money if a big offer was tabled elsewhere.

Benny would have knocked back plenty of more lucrative offers from rival clubs to stay a Tiger in his playing days. I will give him that much.

There was hardly any money in the game in those days.
I remember Paul Sironen the Policeman during the week. The players had jobs when they went playing football back then.
If Benny was around in the modern era, I doubt his loyalty would have been as concrete.
It would be the same for all the old boys.

I remember Blocker saying once if he had been offered money from another club that gets thrown around in todays game he'd have taken it.

You probably would find that the money being paid since players have been basically full time is pretty relative to today if you compare it against the basic wage of the day. I know a guy who played for the Magpies in the mid to late sixties and he told me that he got bugger all but managed to buy two terraces in Glebe out of his footy earnings!!!! Still owns them, with a few more, so i guess it is what you do with your dollars that really counts

Your dollar then bought far more than it does now

Fwiw just spoke to a co-worker who said he had a chat to Brooks while out on the town a couple of weeks ago. I find it hard to believe, but my co-worker said that Brooks said that the club is offering him 700k. Apparently on 650k atm which i actually would believe. My co-worker being a Parra fan asked "why don't you go to Parra" to which Brooks replied "They don't want me".

Iam afraid that is the sort of money a NRL no7 can command and more. I would say teams who need a seven like the dragons and dogs would not hesitate to spend 700 on Brooks. I get the feeling we are going to see a way better Brooks in 2017

True that.
My dad bought a house in Balmain back then for 8000.
He sold out in 1998 for 950k but the same house changed hands in mid 2016 for just under 3m.
Sydney property made many millionaires in a short space of time.

when u critise moses defence u have to compare the defence of the team he is in .

would there be as much defensive pressure on him if he played for the
storm ? currently sharks broncos
no he wouldnt have to make as much tiigers are constant on back foot and our halves get isolated 1v1

when raiders tore us appart last yr moses split them twice out of nothing picture him in that raiders side he would of split tigers 5 times and no one would of noticed him defending ??

Geez for $650 000 we should be expecting and demanding a way, way better Brooks next season. If you look at him in strictly value for money terms he would go close to being the most grossly overpaid player in the NRL.
Cmon Brooksy, pull your finger out son…..or get on your bike and pedal elsewhere.

So does your co-worker know Brooks? Or am I suppose to believe Brooks tells people how much he earns and all about his negotiations, whether he knows them or not?

Ps GNR not having a go at you, I just truly despair if players are that arrogant they mouth off about contract details to everyone, to make themselves look better than the average joe

Not to my knowledge. And yes, i thought the same thing re money he earns. I'm not endorsing what was said as fact, just thought it was worthy of passing it on to here.
