Mitchell Pearce

Would be madness to chase him unless we offloaded Brooks….lets face it Reynolds and Marshall wouldnt be pushed out

Pearce would be a waste of money…

In my opinion, Brooks has more potential upside than Pearce. Pearce has played his whole career surrounded by good, experienced players, he is never going to play any better than he played at the Roosters or in Origin... Just because a player is successful in a strong club, doesn't mean that success will be transferred to a battling club...

If Brooks is going to realise his potential, it will be in the next couple of years, he has played for about 4 full seasons now, has an experienced halves partner and a well balanced side at his disposal...

Between Nathan Cleary and Pearce - who would you choose?

If Pearce comes in Brooks will have to go elsewhere, then there's no place for Cleary if he wanted to work with his father in the future.

Pearce is an id*@t off field so why would we even want him? You think a person would just change in rehab centres in a short period of time? How many months was he in rehab? I hope we don't even go near him.

Some of you guys are like kids with new pocket money, so eager to spend it.

Yes Pearce is a good footballer, yes he'd go straight into our team. Do we specifically need a halfback? No. Do we really want to get into a bidding war for a player in a position we don't need? Probably not.

I personally think Newcastle are going to offer him big bucks, they are dying for a player of his calibre and he could slot in with Watson just fine.

We are better off IMO holding our money until the right type of player comes along, personally I think we need a top-class backrower before any other position.

What I want to know is how the F Roosters are claiming to be a million bucks under the cap with Pearce going. It is evident that is the Roosters narrative, both SMH and Telecrap reporting the same figure this morning.

Cronk for Pearce isn't even a straight swap, it's a few hundred thousand cost upgrade. Similarly Tedesco is at least $500K more expensive than anyone they released.

I'd be fine if Roosters released Pearce and said they were done, but I can't cop that they reckon releasing Pearce gives them shot at another elite $1M footballer. Please. Where is the NRL and it's minimum value contracts for top-tier players, despite the TPAs? Isn't that why Izzy Folau couldn't sign with Parra for $50 a few years ago?

Frontloading jirskyr. Theyve been building for a premiership this year or next, that much is clear. They had that really thin year a couple of years ago.

As sheens put it when we had our tilt in 2010/11\. A watershed year. The problem is, we did it with backloading!!

Rothfield reported it for the tele, he is probably on the take there to sprout those figures, no one bar the NRL believes them

I think rothfields figures differered from uncle nicks article so yeah, grain of salt.

My old man actually worked with Nick P, said he's ruthless , but actually generally quiet and nice guy.

We should throw some money at their underpaid players.

I’m probably in the minority here but for the first time in a good while I think our forward pack looks pretty good. Aloiai, McQueen, Taylor is a pretty solid back row in my opinion. I think we are seriously lacking some quality backs however.

Do you really think they are underpaid? It may say so on their “NRL contract” but I think they are being well paid. One way or another.

The NRL are not registering Maloney’s contract with Penrith because Maloney let slip that the club was arranging the TPA. Starting to understand?

i'd say the third part rortes are paying more than these figures Buzz has been writing up.
Daniel Tupou $220,000, Mitchell Aubusson $280,000, Isaac Liu $200,000, Zane Tetevano $120,000, Sio Siua Taukeiaho $150,000 ,Joseph Manu $150,000, Nat Butcher $200,000

Which brings into question - how did Teddy land that Nike Ad? It can't be just him landing it by himself. Connections from the eastern suburbs club I say. Goodluck to them.

Just a typo. I meant "underpaid."

McQueen is the key question. If he is fit we are good. However it's really touchy if he will play next year. Whatever happens I hope he does not string us along. He is either fit and ok or he is a compo case and off our cap.

I’d have Pearce in a heartbeat. Gives us a quality half now with good depth as an alternative when needed.

We're one of the last clubs he would consider.

Yes we are, and considering we're maxxed out for halves as well…but Id love him here too

I would love Pearce. I think Pearce would work well with Reynolds and give us a SOLID halves combination.

and it won't happen!

We pissed off Jason Taylor for Cleary, we told Braith Anasta to go after he did very little for our team. Yes we did the right decision. No Pearce won't sign with us.

Cleary has a plan. That plan for now is to get a competitive team together. Get people used to defending and playing a particular style of footy. If we get a good family club like how the Tigers or the Bulldogs were in the 80's we will go well. then in 2 years time we maybe can snipe the big names.

So would I. I think our pack is where we are strongest.
