Mitchell Pearce

The last thing i want to see is Pearce leading a Newcastle resurgence. The blues will be dumb enough to pick him again for origin.

Surely not, Daley was stupid enough, but Freddy and co I think would go for Cleary or Reynolds, maybe even Maloney at 7.

If he starts the year well watch Freddie pick him.

I imagine there's a great deal of schadenfraude being enjoyed by the old Wests fans here.

I don't follow.

Manly missing out after shedding a player to accommodate him.

When did we do this? Was this why we shedded Hodgo all those years ago?
Did we shed someone to go for Brent Kite? I vaguely remember loosing Keith Galloway around then.
Did we shed someone thinking we would get a Manly player?

Outside of the 2016 premiership, gallen has been a loser his whole career. One year of success doesn't make up for 15 years of failure

I'm drunk and feeling real bitter by the way lol

Bitter or not, it is true. I used to have a soft spot for the Sharks because they were a good honest side that just couldn't get those big wins.

Now they have a comp, but at what price all that peptides nonsense and suspensions; I dont like the way they've since gone about their business, or the type of whingy, siege-mentality club they've become. Outside of Sharks fans, Gallen and Flanagan would have to be as unpopular as football personalities come. I've never seen an Origin captain so disliked by his own state, he just has such a selfish and petulant way about him, that does not garner respect.

Good for the fans that they finally jagged a trophy, because Wests fans know how that feels, but I would have been pleased enough if Gallen had retired sans premiership.

No because of the Silvertails history, Manly raiding other clubs for players now not getting their marks despite moving the pieces around.

It will be very good for Mitchell Pearce to be at Newcastle.
He will be captain, not under as much media scrutiny up here.

can also enjoy the culinary delights.
Like the $7.50 special from Georgetown Fish & Chip Shop….

I meant that the old Magpies fans would have got a bit of joy watching Manly move the players on to accommodate Pearce and thinking they had him only to have him sign elsewhere (harking back to the 70's where Manly pilfered the Maggies.)

Manly back then didn't move anyone on..they just bought whoever they wanted..

I can't see the Knights taking the Captaincy of Sione Mata'utia..

Well it's not clear if Sione is going to be playing for the Knights (let alone captain):

It's a big call. Probably the right one OR move him to a Bench/casual player depending on doctors advice.
If the guy is blacking out now, image what he will be doing in 3 years time. I imagine some xray will say his Brain sits dangerously in his head or something. I also get worried about playing people when they are 18… start them at 21 and their bone structure is a little better/no more growth spirts....(unsure how much this effects concussions).

IMHO we probably should have pulled Liam Fulton sooner. If he sues us it's probably a fair case.... Hope we would settle out of court and keep the guy as a Club champion.

Going to be a few years before we have a marquee player signing on the dotted line, said it a million times, the so called top players are lured to a club for more than money.

So how did Newcastle manage to land his signature? Sure they've recruited well, but so have we. Our coach is more competent as well.

Pearce went to Newcastle for a few reasons. First to get out of the Sydney media spotlight, like Joey Johns you can sail under the radar up there. Second, most clubs had already spent most of there cap, so there was not a flood of offers and lastly, he was joining a lot of x team mates. Pretty simple choice in the end

Because Newcastle spent to a lower salary cap limit $9.1M and did not complete their recruitment drive when Pearce became available. Despite the noise about Cronk and Pearce all year, Tigers made it clear we had a time limit before we were going to move on what was truly available in the market, not what we hoped might be available. There was a high chance Cronk was going to retire.

Thats a bit of a furphy…

Nathan Brown - 9 Final Series & a 59.6% success rate as Coach
Ivan Cleary - 5 Final Series & a 46.6% success rate as Coach

Pearce chose the better Coach!

Well then, he chose the coach.

I guess we will see how they go this year. Both with teams that needed a rebuild. Brown has coached some very good teams. St. George was full of rep players.
