Mitchells worse than BJ

Why is Mitchell hit with a grade 2 while Leilua gets a grade 3?

Because Latrine plays for "The Pride of the League" Lol.

Is it too late for us to contest BJ Leilua's suspension? If Latrell is getting 2 weeks BJ should have only got 1.

That's a really good question.
I can't find any documented guidelines on grading. Has anyone seen any?
I did find a reference to gradings being determined by reference to prior incidents and how they have been graded, but that seems a bit subjective.
If you defend the charges you can be liable for an additional penalty but you seem to be able to challenge the grading without risking an additional penalty.
I note that the club elected to not challenge the grading of Leilua's charge.

I wonder if they had reached that decision prior to Mitchell’s grade 2 ruling? I think a good silk would have no trouble getting a downgrade based on a comparison with Mitchell’s case? Perhaps BJ needs the time? Perhaps Talau needs game time as a centre? Will be interesting to see how this unfolds?

Thats the thing. Latrell got charged with 'striking' (also only a grade 2) while BJ was charged with a 'reckless high tackle'.

Grade 3 striking is 400 points, whereas grade 3 reckless high tackle is 600.

So moral of the story for BJ next time is... Punch him in the face and cope a week less, no?

But BJ had no intention to tackle.

I might be mistaken... Says 'Dangerous - contact Head/Neck' for Joey which is "only" 500 points for a grade 3. With 25% discount for early guilty plea he should have 375 points and thus be serving 3 matches not 4... Right?

I'm even more confused now

We definitely should appeal Reynolds suspension. Unlike Mitchell's stupid act, it was clearly not deliberate and we only risk him being out for another week if the appeal fails. Benji is now back (and seemingly back in form) after his stint on the sidelines so we have a ready replacement anyway.

That'll do me 2 weeks for a dog shot on par with BJ's and a fine for the Garner high shot. We all knew it was coming but for gods sake the outrage that BJ copped and everyone calling him an idiot and next to nothing for Latrell is beyond a joke. How can we compete when the NRL is so heavily biased against us.

Its the press and coverage in general when they were showing replays last night they made sure Latrell's incident was not heavily scrutinized.
Madge also played it down which did not help, Bennett stated he did not see it, and commentators moved on quickly.
I liken it to what happened with BJ however he has carry over loading from prior.
All i can say is i am glad we did not sign him on big coin.

I'm equally as peeved off at the refereeing standard of our last 2 games...but blaming Cummins and co. doesn't help or change the fact that we're down a player due to his own onfield conduct. I will say that I'm with most of you though that it is becoming quite concerning and I just want to see a fair contest for us.

It’s getting to the stage each game I’m anticipating us to be “stitched up”.
There seems to be preferential treatment for certain clubs.
Something smells

I think this week it has more to do with the unfairness of the BJ and mitchell incidents personally. No doubt BJ had to go for 4 weeks but mitchells shot on reynolds was just as bad and he even ran in from behind to hit him but is charged a grade 2 so will only miss 2 weeks if pleads guilty and then his highshot later he is only getting a fine in the same match.

We got absolutely nothing our way until the final 15 mins. I really wonder why i bother watching sometimes.

You think the last 2 weeks have been bad

Wait until we play the Broncos

I agree to me looking on its blatant, we arent the only club coping it. Seems to be some darling clubs Souths, Roosters, Penrith, Parra that get all the calls and th "rub of the green" whereas other like us get nothing. Its like they are trying to tell us something.

Thanks @gato it's become all too apparent hasn't it.
I just don't want our games to be dependent on the referee decisions but moreso that our team can actually produce a game plan that even outplays them. It sucks not getting the rub of the green but with all the adversity we've been handed I think our game mindsets need to shift to being more competitive in every capacity.
We may not be able to overcome poor officiating per se but we can try to put ourselves in the game every chance we get and take every opportunity - which is where I believe Madge had us heading toward up until last night's game.

Neither did Latrine.

There’s no comprehending it mate, they just make the rules up as they go along depending on which club the offending player is from.

Yes once we all knew which refs we didn’t want on game day because they always gave us a hard time. Now it’s just all of them!
