maybe Smith to the Warriors, & Shifty stays @ the Tigers. Wont that make a lot of people happy & the Tigers are still talking to new players that Sheens wants so why would he be leaving?.

Who are those players were in talks one is Brent Kite ??

Brown, no
Hogan, no

next?

Shultz?

I thought Schultz name might come up, but by his own admission he knows 'nothing'. Surprised that you would dismiss Hogan so easily. He has the respect of his players, knows how to manipulate authority and operates outside the salary cap with absolute impunity

Michael Hagan will do me just fine.

Go and have a look at Hagans record (most of it with the greatest half of all time in his team) vs Daniel Anderson and get back to me.

There is a reason Hagan hasnt got a gig.

Yeah we'd be hot next season with Anasta and Humble in the halves … NOT! Geez hate to defend that ...NOT! Seems some of you guys are willing to trash 2013 just to offload the clip board clutcher.

Less knee jerk reaction, more measured decision making ... PLEASE
:sign:

You call 3 finals in 10 seasons a knee jerk reaction? PLLEEAASSEE :roll

Take your point.
However the hue and cry of the past three weeks is more what I'm talking about … Before the roosters game no one was seriously contemplating a new coach for 2013 (I realize there has been a push to end Sheens tenure for years on this forum however it was only bubbling very quietly pre Roosters debacle). So given that the musical chairs of recruitment have largely played out for next season I feel cutting Sheens adrift right now and the upheaval that would create amongst a playing group who are said to be loyal to the coach ( possible defections as mentioned earlier on this thread etc) would guarantee 2013 failure. That's the knee jerk.

Much better in my opinion to sit down with Mr Sheens and plot a measured departure plan.
Let all players signing contracts beyond 2013 know that there will be a new head man and actually appoint the new dude for 2014 and give him the second half of next season to assemble his playing squad ...

Something like that, anyway.

I would take a wooden spoon in 2013 for a new focus and new positive direction.

It was so exciting when Sheens first came in 2003 - you could feel he was building something and we all went along for the ride.

I want to feel that excitement again, it seems to me however that the only way that will happen is for a major change.

Theres not likely going to be success immediately recruiting a new coach, even Sheens had a five year plan.
It will be a several season process

I dont know why people are so pro players that are apparently supportive of a somewhat unsuccesful coach….these players have not been held to account, are seemingly guaranteed selection regardless of performance.....why does anyone want this Snoddy?

The Sheens mega thread takes care of that point

Guess I'm sensing that the baby is about to be chucked out with the bathwater.
Your right in as much as the players can't be allowed to run the asylum (patients running the footy club etc) however they are a factor amongst many factors to consider. The list of coaches on the market at the moment is wholly uninspiring … That's another factor.
Understandably, everyone seems to be very hot under the collar after our end of season capitulation and my fear is that something rash will transpire before everyone has had a chance to cool down and think straight ... But hey, I've been wrong before

I do think we need a change of direction i dont think benji will jump ship with sheens if he goes, well lets face it he cant unless we allow it.

I dont know if the rumours are true but farrah doesnt exactly see eye to eye with sheens all the time and imo a captain of a club and a coach need to be on the same wave length.

I also feel sheens has allowed benji to run his own race to a certain extent ala the moltzen fiasco i would have been ok with moltzen going but benji wasnt apparently.

Now in saying this if sheens does go or is pushed who would be a suitable replacement,i have no idea whos out there and capable?

That's crazy talk helmesy … Well the first bit is anyway.
No one would cop a Tigers wooden spoon next year ... If there were a new coach overseeing that, then we'd be lining up to punt him straight away, players would start moving away, good players would be harder to attract, sponsors running a mile ... Etc etc

Nah... We all want a rip snorting, charge into the top 4 in 2013 whether we be facing forwards, backwards or standing on our bloody heads

Nothing rash about 3 finals appearances over the last **decade**…or are you looking at Humptys suggested time frame for coach rating?

The current coach imo is also fairly 'uninspiring'

Ellis last game/LO/ pumped.

Pumped by Roosters with a season on the line.

Not much inspiratuion was shown there

I would be happy if Sheens stayed if things changed for next year.
I worry that a new coach will have us in this position next year.

No, not looking at anyone's time frame and totally agree that the season has been hopelessly sad.
The full extent of the plan however seems to be to get rid of the coach at any cost … And then I ask, what next ... You see, that's when all the crazy talk starts.
Step 1 leads to step 2 leads to step 3 ... My point is if steps 2 through 47 don't offer up something genuinely tangible - please don't take step 1 until they do.
I'm seriously not in favor of running the football club like Benji runs a back line ... Ie off the cuff with eyes clenched firmly shut. :nerd:

I agree, I guess I could have worded that better (don't want another wooden spoon), what I'm saying is I think we probably have to get back to square one, refocus and put a new plan together.

Unfortunately I think Tim is not going to be able to make the tough decisions to make this happen (recent Moltzen re-signing) shows me this.

New coach, new ideas, someone who is a step away from the players and can judge them on their record and potential.

When ever Sheens leaves theirs going to be a year or so adjustment.A new coach needs at least one season to stamp himself on the place. Okay we might have instant results but it could also go pear shape for a while but it has to happen a now is the time

Are you worried about us being in this position next year with the same coach???

I can't see Sheens getting the flick. I remember a certain CEO getting the flick because he wanted to make Sheens accountable for the team's performance and Tim didn't like that.
