@tigerbenji said:maybe Smith to the Warriors, & Shifty stays @ the Tigers. Wont that make a lot of people happy & the Tigers are still talking to new players that Sheens wants so why would he be leaving?.

Less knee jerk reaction, more measured decision making ... PLEASE

You call 3 finals in 10 seasons a knee jerk reaction? PLLEEAASSEE :roll

Take your point.
However the hue and cry of the past three weeks is more what I'm talking about … **Before the roosters game no one was seriously contemplating a new coach for 2013** (I realize there has been a push to end Sheens tenure for years on this forum however it was only bubbling very quietly pre Roosters debacle). So given that the musical chairs of recruitment have largely played out for next season I feel cutting Sheens adrift right now and the upheaval that would create amongst a playing group who are said to be loyal to the coach ( possible defections as mentioned earlier on this thread etc) would guarantee 2013 failure. That's the knee jerk.
Much better in my opinion to sit down with Mr Sheens and plot a measured departure plan.
Let all players signing contracts beyond 2013 know that there will be a new head man and actually appoint the new dude for 2014 and give him the second half of next season to assemble his playing squad ...
Something like that, anyway.
@innsaneink said:Theres not likely going to be success immediately recruiting a new coach, even Sheens had a five year plan.
It will be a several season process
I dont know why people are so pro players that are apparently supportive of a somewhat unsuccesful coach….these players have not been held to account, are seemingly guaranteed selection regardless of performance.....why does anyone want this Snoddy?

It was so exciting when Sheens first came in 2003 - you could feel he was building something and we all went along for the ride.
I want to feel that excitement again, it seems to me however that the only way that will happen is for a major change.

Guess I'm sensing that the baby is about to be chucked out with the bathwater.
Your right in as much as the players can't be allowed to run the asylum (patients running the footy club etc) however they are a factor amongst many factors to consider. The list of coaches on the market at the moment is wholly uninspiring … That's another factor.
Understandably, everyone seems to be very hot under the collar after our end of season capitulation and my fear is that something rash will transpire before everyone has had a chance to cool down and think straight ... But hey, I've been wrong before
@innsaneink said:Nothing rash about 3 finals appearances over the last **decade**…or are you looking at Humptys suggested time frame for coach rating?
The current coach imo is also fairly 'uninspiring'
Ellis last game/LO/ pumped.
Pumped by Roosters with a season on the
Not much inspiratuion was shown there

That's crazy talk helmesy … Well the first bit is anyway.
No one would cop a Tigers wooden spoon next year ... If there were a new coach overseeing that, then we'd be lining up to punt him straight away, players would start moving away, good players would be harder to attract, sponsors running a mile ... Etc etc
Nah... We all want a rip snorting, charge into the top 4 in 2013 whether we be facing forwards, backwards or standing on our bloody heads
@kh_canada said:I would be happy if Sheens stayed if things changed for next year.
I worry that a new coach will have us in this position next year.
