He comes across as a classless guy who could care less about his rep as long as he gets his own way

Based on what ? The BS you read in newspapers and forums ?

Unless you know him personally you have no basis for that kind of comment.

classless guy

I could say the same about half the posters on this forum just based on ther attitude, doesn't make it right though.

Based on the fact that he was that desperate to get of a contract, he lied about needing shoulder surgery that requires 6 months rehab. If it turns out somehow this is what he requires, then i'll take it back, but i think its unlikely

at the end of the day sloppy paperwork is what has been the problem. Nothing more, Nothing less.
regardless, of who thinks the Tigers are wrong or right or Saints are wrong or right.. .its now a done deal..

We can all go on about it as much as we want. WE can speculate on what we think should have happened. OR what Moltz should have done.. But the point is he is a tiger for 2012,
soon as the first kick off for 2012, this whole debacle will be a thing of the past.

For people to say the club has a bad name out of all this, this is nothing compared to the
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Finger (Hopoate) and
Craig Field drug problem

These were forgotten pretty quickly..
Other cases like this eg Turner etc were also forgotten pretty quickly.

Our performances at the end of the day is what speaks louder then anything.. and all i can say is bring on 2012

He has made this club and himself look like a goose

He had a contract for 2012… The Wests Tigers management made themselves and him look like a goose.
"You can go,we don’t want you.. The relationship is over ....bye “Wait we really Love you.. We want you.. Can you stay? "

We are all presuming its Lui being moved on but I wonder what player will be moved on to make room for the change in plans?

Any names you may think???

Who says we need room…. Since a select few were told to explore options, We have relieved quite substantial cap pressure!!
To Date in 2011 we have lost: Gibbs, Fifita, Tuiaki, Cayless, Payten, McKinnon, Daniela, Flanagan, Dwyer...
For 2012 we have: Blair, Grant, Humble, Bell and Reddy... Thus far!!
Now I'm not a salary cap genius.... But at a guess one would assume the numbers add up!!
Surely the 9 out more than compensates for the 5 in + a couple upgrades???
So the whole "We need room in the cap" is beyond me.... It seems there are far too many folkes thinking that Moltz sticking around has something to do with Lui's position at the club.
I would think it had something to do with the rubbish football he was dishing up for 3/4 of 2011 having a major effect on his desicion making.
How many here can put thier hand up and say they haven't thought about quitting thier job after a mongrel week???
Not many i'll bet!!

St George acted in good faith??????
How amateurish of Gallop & the NRL to absolve the Dragqueens Management "of all blame" in this fiasco!!!
Contract Law demands all paperwork to be done correctly & legally binding before a contract is legal!!!!
Obviously Doust is an amateur when it comes to contract law as he announced Moltzen's signing to the world before he had all the legally binding paperwork!!!!!
"What a bunch of Clowns"!!!!!
So the total blame rests with Taudry Tauber"!!!!!! HA! HA !HA!

The basis of a contract is offer and acceptance. There is no requirement, in either legislation or at common law, that a contract need be in writing.

Acceptance may be subject to the fulfillment of specific conditions. If those conditions are not met, acceptance may not occur and no contract therefore exists (Masters v Cameron, 1954)

I have no idea how the Moltzen thing played out, but frankly I don't care. He's playing with the Tigers next year and thats all that matters. The number of posts in this matter are ridiculous

Wonder if this is the first time specific case law has been mentioned on the forum. Vaguely remember Masters vs Cameron from my very basic law subjects, my biggest memory from contract law was if in doubt, Boots cash chemist was always a good guess, same with neglience, if in doubt Donahue vs Stevens

I think that as usual people are being very hard on Tim with this one, he is a young kid with presumably little knowledge in the area of contracts dealing with experience business men in Humphries and Daust, he is extremely reliant on the support of his manager, who it seems may have provided him poor advice in this situation.

Now that this matter is settled its time to move on and look forward to the 2012 season as the past can't be changed. As a supporter of the Wests Tigers I will be supporting Tim Moltzen.

Don't be so sure, my 12 year old always refers to "The Hopoate" and he would have been 2 when it happened.

But Todd Carney will probably be back on the grog, allegedly, and in the news before we know it.

May have is that a bit like "allegedly" - more fancy legal speak to get around stating the truth.

I put it to you that Tauber is an A++ #$%&#$&#$ and if he was my financial adviser (his actual job) I'd be damn scared of what he's actually doing with my investments.

On his web page [here (free plug)](http://ns.financialwisdom.com.au/emp_prof_detail.jsp?ArticleViewContext=2324802&ident=PERSONNEL_PLANNER) he states

I conduct myself ethically and professionally

:roll and repeats it twice just in case we're not convinced - I wonder why.

Using the words "Doust" and "businessman" in the same sentence is a big stretch Goose. A true businessman would have made sure all criteria were met previous to registering a contract. If anything this debacle made him look the most foolish of the lot, but that's up for deliberation.

I'm one of the people that believe Tim should have honoured his word and his contract, I don't see that as being harsh on him, I see that as being professional. It's quite obvious though that he should be a little more wary of the advice of his manager next time. I believe he should have went, but at the same time it's hard to be raging mad at a player who will break a contract because he wants to be at the club that badly.

I heard he turned down big $$ to go to the Broncos and opted to stay @ MANLY

yh yh that was 2day from his manager but i heard the same he is re singing. manlys ceo said his confident he will re sign and extenstion 😀

Are they reading into things here? just because he's on the tour doesn't mean Sheens is in his ear…....I wouldn't mind him coming over, but I don't think Manly would let that happen.

I am just glad this is over.
time for on field efforts to be put in for a good pre season.
next season will bring, us elation/frustration/disappointment at certain times.
there maybe some hard times as well, but
**_I just hope Tim Moltzen does not become the sacrificial scapegoat for season 2012._**

So, Moltzen faked a shoulder injury, and BS'd on twitter about going through shoulder surgery, to avoid getting out of the Saints contract? surely that can't be true. If it is then my opinion of him has lowered even more. He comes across as a classless guy who could care less about his rep as long as he gets his own way

I'm with you. I dont think Moltzen has handled himself well through this (could be with the aid of his agent). When I read that excerpt about the shoulder injury, I like everyone else thought that it was a ruse for Saints to save face. If Moltzen is now carrying it on on Twitter then he is a child. He should simply STFU.

The only out fo r him is if Doust, Humph & Moltz all got together and said ok, this is the way we get out of this with Doust saving face, I'll say this, you say this and then he'll say this. Marginal at best, Moltzen should STFU and start traiing HARD. He has a _**massive**_ year ahead of him.

Personally I think it would have been better for ALL parties if he left.

NRL: Player agent Martin Tauber to be investigated over handling of Tim Moltzen contract drama

Paul Crawley
The Daily Telegraph
November 05, 2011 12:00AM

THIS is the player agent at the centre of the Tim Moltzen contract tug-of-war. Martin Tauber became famous for managing the career of Wests Tigers superstar Benji Marshall - but his handling of Moltzen's future is now threatening to wipe the smile right off his face.

The NRL's Player Agent Accreditation Scheme yesterday confirmed that Tauber will be investigated for his role in the ugliest contract dispute in recent memory.

There is a possibility it could end up costing him his NRL accreditation.

Acting on a recommendation from the NRL and a scathing assessment from salary cap auditor Ian Schubert, Tauber's role in this whole schemozzle is being reviewed to hopefully get to the bottom of just why a written release from the Wests Tigers was not secured before Moltzen entered into a new contract with the Dragons.

"I have spoken briefly only with Ian Schubert and will meet with him after I return from overseas next week to discuss the NRL's and St George Illawarra's concerns with the conduct of the agent in this matter," the Player Agent Scheme's operation's manager Neil Cadigan said. "I'll also ask to speak with Peter Doust as well as naturally Martin Tauber.

Until that time it is not appropriate to comment further. However, it is incumbent of accredited agents to be familiar with, and abide, by the NRL rules in regard to contract negotiations. Suggestions, as have been put forward by the NRL and St George Illawarra, that an agent's conduct is questionable is something that the accreditation scheme treats seriously and would obviously want to investigate."

Tauber could not be contacted yesterday. Schubert found the Dragons acted in good faith signing Moltzen after the Tigers gave him permission to negotiate but the investigation was cut short when the Dragons decided not to move forward with Moltzen's deal.
