Momentum

I'm picking up from "GuyOT's" comment about playing 80 minutes and maintaining strategy. I agree and, if my assumptions are correct, that is what Taylor is trying to instil in the WT's inexperienced players. That is what 'playing to the structure' and keeping the halves 'on the leash' is all about. Learning to play the grind every set. Ok you just ran in 22 unopposed points. Next set back into the grind. If the opportunity presents itself you will score again, if not you have maintained pressure.
The loss to Canberra will provide leadership training examples for the halves. How to take control of the side and the game. How to maintain pressure on the opponent and how and when to relieve pressure on your own team.
I make the assumption that this must be maddeningly frustrating for Robbie, having to take a back seat and watch while Moses and Brooks learn their trade. It may also be that the periods when Robbie is off the field will be the ones Taylor is most interested in as far as Brooks and Moses are concerned.
If I'm correct, Taylor has thrown Brooks and Moses in the deep end, is doing a great job working patiently to his plan and the Team have truly bought into it.
On the other hand of course this could be complete BS.

JT needs to work on some strategies that allow us to slow momentum. Kick early in tackle counts? Calls for killer sets/hits in defence.

Harry Hindsight is great but really when things started to swing on Sunday we should have been kicking early in the tackle count with that wind.

The key and the issue is maintaining pressure with your line speed in defence , the longer in games you can maintain pressure the more likely that the pressure will cause mistakes and turnovers which then turns the game around and releases the pressure valve

And when you have the ball you need to obviously control both possession and the way you want the speed of the game to be played at If we have a good lead you want to try and slow your sets down and let the clock help build pressure Even finding touch at the end of a set can help control the speed of the game

Our biggest problem is because of the cave ins with points flow teams always think they have a chance to get back into the game if they can score a try or two against the Tigers

We have to find a way break oppositions momentum or this will end up being another long season of heartbreak

Yes, nice post Happy

Agree Hap,but don't you think that this team of professional footballers would have already worked on that as it is one of the major basics of the game and how to lock down a game when your leading by a big margin…..good solid defence for 80 mins slows them down as does kicks deep in thier territory putting them on the back foot...... :sign:

Just love this thread - for once it is so positive.

Well done all!

We know they are learning, and it will take time, they are only 20 years old.
Memories like a colander.

As most said you have to build pressure and learn to take pressure off your own team.

There is an old saying - " you can't put an old head on young shoulders"

I'm loving the glimses of magic though.

The old chestnut if your good enough at 20 yrs old to play 1 grade you play em ATM Moses and to a lesser extend Brooks are just not up to it send them back to the regimes so they can work on there defence and organisation and running of a team before you put them back in 1 st grade

What a difference a week makes. Couple of little things ( ref decisions etc ) go our way we could be right up there.
