We will stand firm, we are not soft. We will not be dictated to, and players will be forced to honour their contract.

Just like Matterson, Aloiai.

Here we go again. For all the media spin the club has caved in twice and there is now an expectation from the playing group that they can walk away if things are not going their way & they have a better offer.

Based on history JTJ and BJ will be lucky to see the season out and we have limited options in terms of back-ups.

I dont think Momo or the club has done anything wrong...the media are making something out of nothing here

Can completely understand Momo wanting out and if we can get Laurie early its a win win.

Limited back ups? We have Talau, Mybe (if Laurie is here), Hoffman, Cini and AJ - all specialist centres... Centre were stacked.

Which other clubs have players that have recently signed a contract ask for a release as soon as they don't make first grade.

My understanding is our backline is:
Mbye, Nofa, JTJ, BJ, Talau.

Available (apart from Momo) are AJ & Cini. We are one injury away from someone who can't tackle being first picked.

Alot if they're second string players...you just don't hear from them as the media don't report it. Again, Momo isn't leaving because he is unhappy or wants more money he is just looking for a starting opportunity.

We will (should) only release if we receive Laurie in return meaning Mybe and Talau are the direct back ups. AJ will go to the wing if Talau is needed in the centre. Again, we will still have Hoffman and Cini...how many centres do we need?

I am only for releasing if we get Laurie not just for the sake of it which looks to be the case as Madge has said.

Unless Hoffman has been upgraded, him & Kei are on a development contract and not available until after round 16.

We have Talau, AJ, Cini & Mbye (assuming Laurie comes and is ready for first grade) to cover every position from 1-5. As I said if Cini gets anywhere near first grade we are in trouble.

I understand what you're saying but realistically what are the chances our entire 1-5 is injured at the same time? I can't see Madge dropping starters (even with bad form) if we have only development players to cover them due to injury.

All we are doing is swapping a centre (who we currently have 4/5 others at the club) who can play wing for a fullback (in which we currently have 0 back ups) who can also play 5/8th and wing... I just don't see how we are so disadvantaged by the trade?

I genuinely dont get the love of some here for Momers. I dont dislike him and I think he is a solid first grade player in the mold of Shane Elford but Ive never seen him do anything impressive.

His fans here regularly quote his try scoring strike rate, but they are all catch and crash tries, I cant remember him beating a player.

He is a good solid player but I think he has shown enough to know that he is VERY consistent, because what you see is what you get. This IS his ceiling.

BJ & JTJ may not be consistent but their ceiling is MUCH higher than Momers. Talau looks raw but I think he has natural talents (mostly size) that Momers doesnt have .

IMO I'd put Momo on a par with Talau.....and we have Talau.

I wouldnt be upset if we traded him for a Laurie for example, but he does have enough that he would be one of those players I watch nervously in another clubs colours wondering if we let one get away.

Intercept try Tigers V Dragons backend of 2019...ran 85m

I acknowledge an intercept try is long range, but how many players did he beat?

I know you are more about stats and how many players he beat etc etc to score his tries, however,in my honest opinion,it doesnt matter how he scored them, the points were on the board and another small point I will make,he at least was in the position to score the try or he was 100 percent trying his guts out for the club,he may not be the fastest or suitable player most want but he is footy smart and a trier everytime he pulls on our jumper...

And the points weren't on the board when he missed the relatively easy shot at goal v the Dogs

Probably cost us Top 8

To be honest, he should never have been taking that kick. It was obvious he was crumbling under the pressure. One of our senior players should have taken control in that situation.

He was visibly distressed after missing that kick. I remember it vividly

Momirovski was visibly anxious/nervous well before he even went to place the ball and it was patently obvious as @cochise alluded to above. Not his fault, rather the coaching staff and senior players not addressing it for mine.

I was wondering how long it would be before this guy would want to leave....after being in the Storm system, I don't think he wanted to come back did he ! as apposed to Harry Grant who couldn't wait to get back to Melbourne......they all want to be at winning clubs don't they:anguished:

I can understand Momorovski wanting to leave as in has quite a few ahead of him to make the 17.
Harry was on loan and was always going back to Melbourne. Harry really seemed to love his time at the Tigers and the Tigers really appreciate his services in 2020 with Liddle injured and Simpkin too young. Harry has a long future in front of him and Bellamy wont be around forever, things change.

If he can't get regular playing time at the Tigers, where exactly does he think he can?

Penriff are thinking of using him as back up to their injury prone fullback Edwards .. if they move Crichton to fullback if Edwards gets injured they will need a ready to fit in centre and this is where Momo's comes in .. but realistically, he'll still be warming the benches at Penriff .. !!

Now that we have jacked up the price for Crichton, Penriff's piggy bank will be a lot less (hahaha .. well played Tigers) they might have to release Laurie earlier then they expected .. so a swap with Momo's and Laurie might be their only escape .. !! We need to use this release wisely and get what WE want .. !!

Maybe Momo wants to go to the Dogs.

No upside to that for us. No Laurie, no swap, no dough no nothing.

People are assuming the Pamfers - not necessarily.

The only thing, we get out of him leaving - is loosing a good centre. Yes, a good centre.

Not only a good centre, he’s also on the verge of becoming an 80% goal kicker.

then an indifferent year in melbourne.
must be something else at play here.

He moved to the Storm to complete a deal that benefited both clubs, ours immensely,he suddenly found himself in one of the best NRL systems the comp has to offer....Going from our system to another and trying to adapt as well as play football under a different coach with a relatively sudden preseason isnt that easy,he did very well until the injury marred his season,as Bellamy said "if he wasnt injured he would have been in the GF starting side"so I do agree 2020 was indifferent for him.....

A trade to Penrith for Laurie would be a good outcome

Spot on. We get a player we want and let a player who doesn't want to be here, leave. Win / win.

He doesnt wanna be here because hes done the right thing by the club, proven himself in a premiership winning team, and on his return(after a 2 year contract extension) gets told hes gonna be totally shafted for a couple of chronic underperformers, albeit talented...but rarely deliver.
Ask yrself...why have they both been at half a dozen clubs....????
I simply cant believe we make these decisions...coach under pressure IMO.

Like any player at our club
If you want a starting spot you have got to fight for it and earn it 1st
There should be no guarantee starter at our club
If Paul is upset with our signings, he should grow some balls and fight for a spot
Unless of course he thinks he is not good enough

I have a sneaky feeling that Melbourne might be after him on the quiet

Geez some of you have revisionist history . Momo did not “star” for the storm . In fact he wasn’t first choice there , even before his injuries . He was a backup . So can we just get some perspective here or what ?
Also BJ , has been putting in this off season , as well as the jet , and because both those guys are way more talented than momo , if they are fit and firing , of course momo is going to be positioned behind those 2 . As well as Talau , who is a better footballer than him .

He’s had now, 3 months to show that he is the right option , and he hasn’t . Do you guys actually want to win ? Because if Madge can get Jimmy and BJ to buy in , that’s our best chance of winning . The buying in , was the issue , not the talent .

Usually agree with you @strongee but not on the above post.

Too many if's ....if they are fit, if they are firing. if Madge can get Jimmy and BJ to buy in.

I'll add an if to that....what IF they don't fire, what IF Madge can't get them firing?

Now I hope they do and I think one and possibly the both of them will have a crack.

IF one doesn't - you have Talau, you say is a better footballer than Momo.

I say he isn't, certainly not at the moment, Momo would run rings around him at t he moment and he kicks (not brilliantly but kicks).

"He’s had now, 3 months to show that he is the right option , and he hasn’t" ....says who in the Club?

Yes! I want to win - you won't IF one of YOUR centres doesn't fire, IF Talau doesn't measure up.

Momo goes... What do you do then? Play who in the centre?

If we want to WIN..we keep Momo, he will be needed in 2021.

Putting in during the off-season and playing well on the field are quite different. I'll believe it when BJ puts in on the footy field and leads us to top 8 glory. Same with Jet.

For sure ..
But they still have more upside than Momirovski who I’d happily trade for a Laurie or a washing machine

No to the washing machine - we already have enough agitators. Lol

Just a question Earl.....

How many NRL games has Talau impacted?....I must have missed all of them.

I think he is expendable. I agree that he is a decent player. The problem is that we don't have a team stacked with stars with Momo rounding out the squad. We need those risky players to come off.

Put it this way if those risky players don't come off and Momo is in the team we are not going to get above the bottom 4.

Mbye and Doueihi or AJ

Momo’ has asked for a release because there is too much competition for him. The biggest concern is fullback not centre.
I don’t think anyone wants Momo to go because he is a solid player but if we gain a good fullback in exchange that’s better for the team.

People constantly bring up that Momo has scored 14 tries in 19 games, but Talau has 8 in 13 which is just as good really. He needs to play centre though, he's not really a winger

You said that most of his tries he barely beat one player...fairly inaccurate, watch the tries from the dogs game onwards and you’ll be pleasantly surprised

I dont have time to trawl through videos, Im relying on my memory of his play. You are welcome to post them up.

There is a difference between crashing through a flat defence 5 -10m out and actually beating a player.

I will say he used good footwork to step inside players to score his tries. He is a decent finisher, but believe we need more in that position and think we have players that play similar to him but are better.

I would ask anyone on this forum to come up with 3 wests tigers names in our 20 year history

I would ask any forum member to come up with the names of 3 past or present players for our club who have scored tries in 75% of games played (anywhere)
14 from 19 in Nrl
1 from one playing for the prime ministers 13

Sure like many have suggested he is not the world's best player
Maybe not even in our top 20
But Paul has the uncanny ability to put himself in the right spot at the right time
He has the ability to sniff out a try
You don't score 15 try's in 20 games in the worlds best competition by fluke
Wests tigers have had 236 players at our club and only one player has equaled that record
And the is Marika Korobetti
Now let that sink in a little
One player in 236
And Marika Korobetti
And what's more Marika only score 12 tries from 16 games for us
Every player to pull on our jersey has had the same opportunities
But Momorovski has taken those opportunities more than any other player in our history as far as tries v games played
The point IMO is Paul is a keeper
He can do a good job for us
And no one can discount the facts
It is the spines position to help create tries
Its players like Paul that finish them
And although not the best goal kicker in our team, he is a handy back up to have
I dont see to many players putting their hand up for that roll

Now after sticking up for Paul, should we be able to upgrade Paul in a position of need then I am all for it
Its just like a game of chess
Sometimes you have to sacrifice a pawn / player for the good of your own game

If we have the opportunity to keep Paul then I am all for it
But let's not give a release without a class replacement

Talau had a very good game against the Eels. He was playing right centre and scored twice I think until shifted to the wing. He has hardly had an opportunity to perform in the position which best matches his skill and build.
