Just like Matterson, Aloiai.
Here we go again. For all the media spin the club has caved in twice and there is now an expectation from the playing group that they can walk away if things are not going their way & they have a better offer.
Based on history JTJ and BJ will be lucky to see the season out and we have limited options in terms of back-ups.
I dont think Momo or the club has done anything wrong...the media are making something out of nothing here
Can completely understand Momo wanting out and if we can get Laurie early its a win win.
Limited back ups? We have Talau, Mybe (if Laurie is here), Hoffman, Cini and AJ - all specialist centres... Centre were stacked.
Which other clubs have players that have recently signed a contract ask for a release as soon as they don't make first grade.
My understanding is our backline is:
Mbye, Nofa, JTJ, BJ, Talau.
Available (apart from Momo) are AJ & Cini. We are one injury away from someone who can't tackle being first picked.
Alot if they're second string players...you just don't hear from them as the media don't report it. Again, Momo isn't leaving because he is unhappy or wants more money he is just looking for a starting opportunity.
We will (should) only release if we receive Laurie in return meaning Mybe and Talau are the direct back ups. AJ will go to the wing if Talau is needed in the centre. Again, we will still have Hoffman and Cini...how many centres do we need?
I am only for releasing if we get Laurie not just for the sake of it which looks to be the case as Madge has said.
Unless Hoffman has been upgraded, him & Kei are on a development contract and not available until after round 16.
We have Talau, AJ, Cini & Mbye (assuming Laurie comes and is ready for first grade) to cover every position from 1-5. As I said if Cini gets anywhere near first grade we are in trouble.
I understand what you're saying but realistically what are the chances our entire 1-5 is injured at the same time? I can't see Madge dropping starters (even with bad form) if we have only development players to cover them due to injury.
All we are doing is swapping a centre (who we currently have 4/5 others at the club) who can play wing for a fullback (in which we currently have 0 back ups) who can also play 5/8th and wing... I just don't see how we are so disadvantaged by the trade?
