I genuinely dont get the love of some here for Momers. I dont dislike him and I think he is a solid first grade player in the mold of Shane Elford but Ive never seen him do anything impressive.

His fans here regularly quote his try scoring strike rate, but they are all catch and crash tries, I cant remember him beating a player.

He is a good solid player but I think he has shown enough to know that he is VERY consistent, because what you see is what you get. This IS his ceiling.

BJ & JTJ may not be consistent but their ceiling is MUCH higher than Momers. Talau looks raw but I think he has natural talents (mostly size) that Momers doesnt have .

IMO I'd put Momo on a par with Talau.....and we have Talau.

I wouldnt be upset if we traded him for a Laurie for example, but he does have enough that he would be one of those players I watch nervously in another clubs colours wondering if we let one get away.

I acknowledge an intercept try is long range, but how many players did he beat?

I know you are more about stats and how many players he beat etc etc to score his tries, however,in my honest opinion,it doesnt matter how he scored them, the points were on the board and another small point I will make,he at least was in the position to score the try or he was 100 percent trying his guts out for the club,he may not be the fastest or suitable player most want but he is footy smart and a trier everytime he pulls on our jumper...

And the points weren't on the board when he missed the relatively easy shot at goal v the Dogs

Probably cost us Top 8

That's crap Hap - A comment beneath you imo.

Trade him, get rid of him, because he missed a goal - get serious.

And the two tries he scored to even put us in the position to level the game weren’t from him?

The point I was making it cut both ways ...just like a knife you know it cuts both ways ......

You've used that before. High rotation it seems.

I guess the good thing is in your mind, if you beat 13 players twice and score under the post you get 20 points.

If you crash over and beat 3 guys trying to form a wall on the line - you only get 4 points.

Lol.

By t he way I saw him beat players without crashing over between them. Maybe uou missed those games.

Hap mate, the guy hated himself more than anyone in the world after that miss, the guy gives his all and to bring that missed goal up when he was under enormous pressure really shows how narrow minded some people are..go back over the many, many years of our game and show me a player that hasnt missed an important goal or dropped the ball over the line and then we can crucify the guy...and in my opinion Hap if he did get it and we got in the 8 by the skin of our teeth, who is to say we wouldnt have been beaten by along way the first semi...its all hypothetical now and should be forgotten and move on...

My point is things happen ......good and bad

I like Momi ...but in the same sentence I hope he can get the career he wants ..whether that is the WT's or elsewhere

If he gets a starting role with us in 2021 .....our season probably isn't going to be noteworthy

Exactly. I have Momo as our 4th best centre but in reality I'd have Mbye and AD above him as well. I just expect Mbye and AD to play different positions.

It's not that Momo is a bad player. I reckon he is pretty good. He can finish a try. He looks like a good centre. He also lacks that explosive ability to bust the line that players like BJ and Roberts have. I also think Talau has more of that ability to bust the line.

The key point to me is that Laurie plays a position where we lack depth or even have a quality option. If we can trade Laurie for Momo to me it's a no brainer.

Talau had a very good game against the Eels. He was playing right centre and scored twice I think until shifted to the wing. He has hardly had an opportunity to perform in the position which best matches his skill and build.

He did, though when he played there on the right in the trial game where he looked very out of sorts and had me very worried leading into that round.

There is a difference between crashing through a flat defence 5 -10m out and actually beating a player.

I will say he used good footwork to step inside players to score his tries. He is a decent finisher, but believe we need more in that position and think we have players that play similar to him but are better.

I would ask anyone on this forum to come up with 3 wests tigers names in our 20 year history

I would ask any forum member to come up with the names of 3 past or present players for our club who have scored tries in 75% of games played (anywhere)
14 from 19 in Nrl
1 from one playing for the prime ministers 13

Sure like many have suggested he is not the world's best player
Maybe not even in our top 20
But Paul has the uncanny ability to put himself in the right spot at the right time
He has the ability to sniff out a try
You don't score 15 try's in 20 games in the worlds best competition by fluke
Wests tigers have had 236 players at our club and only one player has equaled that record
And the is Marika Korobetti
Now let that sink in a little
One player in 236
And Marika Korobetti
And what's more Marika only score 12 tries from 16 games for us
Every player to pull on our jersey has had the same opportunities
But Momorovski has taken those opportunities more than any other player in our history as far as tries v games played
The point IMO is Paul is a keeper
He can do a good job for us
And no one can discount the facts
It is the spines position to help create tries
Its players like Paul that finish them
And although not the best goal kicker in our team, he is a handy back up to have
I dont see to many players putting their hand up for that roll

Now after sticking up for Paul, should we be able to upgrade Paul in a position of need then I am all for it
Its just like a game of chess
Sometimes you have to sacrifice a pawn / player for the good of your own game

If we have the opportunity to keep Paul then I am all for it
But let's not give a release without a class replacement

Cannot like this one enough

If he can't get regular playing time at the Tigers, where exactly does he think he can?

Penriff are thinking of using him as back up to their injury prone fullback Edwards .. if they move Crichton to fullback if Edwards gets injured they will need a ready to fit in centre and this is where Momo's comes in .. but realistically, he'll still be warming the benches at Penriff .. !!

Now that we have jacked up the price for Crichton, Penriff's piggy bank will be a lot less (hahaha .. well played Tigers) they might have to release Laurie earlier then they expected .. so a swap with Momo's and Laurie might be their only escape .. !! We need to use this release wisely and get what WE want .. !!

Maybe Momo wants to go to the Dogs.

No upside to that for us. No Laurie, no swap, no dough no nothing.

People are assuming the Pamfers - not necessarily.

The only thing, we get out of him leaving - is loosing a good centre. Yes, a good centre.

Nobody is doubting his worth. Unless we get Laurie in return we should not release him as he has value to the team. Nobody is denying that.

the questions is are we a better team with Laurie or Momo In it? I say Laurie provides a much stronger squad due to the depth we will now have in the spine with him here.

Though arguably Momo is the best GK we have, so he probably is worth keeping at this stage, we get Laurie next year anyway, I think we have enough cover for the FB role this season. Laurie is not guaranteed a top 17 spot either?

I actually think AD was striking them really well once he took over plus its documented AD has been training as our kicker, I don't think Momo's kicking % (though not that bad) was high enough to deserve automatic selection.

Understood were getting Laurie next year anyway but we can't throw away 2021 season, we still HAVE to make finals it would be disastrous to be going on to 10 years in a row, no salary cap space in the world will help us. So if Laurie strengthens our team this year then I say we make the swap.

Laurie isn't guaranteed a spot but he has been earmarked as our long term fullback/5.8th and we all know Mybe won't be getting an extension so clearly Madge has seen enough to put faith in his talents.

I think he is the fourth best centre in the club and the club appear to have the same opinion as I do.

I like him as a player but I don't see him having the ability to impact a game like BJ, Roberts or Talau.

Just a question Earl.....

How many NRL games has Talau impacted?....I must have missed all of them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Mq5gPgMWEI

I don't think Momo has that ability. I have a lot more confidence in Talau becoming a quality NRL centre compared to Momo.

I feel catching the ball and putting it down is not really "IMPACT"

Otherwise even Jennings is an impact player.

You are saying you have confidence in Talau becoming a quality player.

I'm saying Momo is a quality player now.

He also failed to mention Talau's 2 absolute mishaps in defense leading to pawwa tries

also off topic but how confident did brooksy look in that short highlights clip? throwing cut out passes on the chest, putting blokes through holes and backing up play. Hopefully more of that to come post benji

I think right now Talau is better. Here is the thing though these are just opinions. It appears the club views Momo as a back up option and I think they've got that correct.

If we can trade Momo for Laurie we should take it. I'd even trade Momo for any decent option at fullback. We have a lot of centres.

His playing ability should not be judged on his goalkicking,i doubt he wanted the resposibility.

I don’t know if Penrith need another centre even if Chrichton was to move to FB.

They have backups in Whare and Jennings.

I think Momo needs to see his time out. Regardless of whether he wants out, he is playing for a contract and so he will have a point to prove when called upon. We need to stop letting players go every time they spit the dummy.

Look to Melbourne where JAC was ready to sit the season out. We need to control the situation rather than avoid it.

You signed a contract, see it out.

When have we ever got the benefit of signing a contracted player and got an early release? Not that i can recall.
