I genuinely dont get the love of some here for Momers. I dont dislike him and I think he is a solid first grade player in the mold of Shane Elford but Ive never seen him do anything impressive.
His fans here regularly quote his try scoring strike rate, but they are all catch and crash tries, I cant remember him beating a player.
I mean if you literally watched any of his 2019 tries like ive posted video clips numerous times in this thread you would see that barely any are “catch and crash” like you said
But his haters love to ignore that of course
No worries, post them up again
I can’t be bothered proving obvious trolls wrong.
Obvious trolls? I said he is a good solid player, hardly trolling. You said you had proof I was wrong and that most of his tries were not short range.
Only one of us is not backing up his words.
You said that most of his tries he barely beat one player...fairly inaccurate, watch the tries from the dogs game onwards and you’ll be pleasantly surprised
I dont have time to trawl through videos, Im relying on my memory of his play. You are welcome to post them up.
There is a difference between crashing through a flat defence 5 -10m out and actually beating a player.
I guess the good thing is in your mind, if you beat 13 players twice and score under the post you get 20 points.
If you crash over and beat 3 guys trying to form a wall on the line - you only get 4 points.
Of course you are right, you get 4 points for any try. The point being if you possess the skill set and talents to be able to beat a man with pace and footwork, you are more likely to either score a try or set one up for others.
Everyone keep repeating Momos try number stats, but he finished all of them, none of them he set up by making a break etc.
Lol.
By t he way I saw him beat players without crashing over between them. Maybe uou missed those games.
Depends what you mean, I saw plenty of tries when he received the ball at pace, inside the opposition 10 with men in front of him and plenty of work to do to score, is that what you mean, because I agree with that.
What I can never recall seeing is Momo setting up his opposite man inside out with footwork then beating him on the outside with pace. I dont recall that ever happening and I dont believe he has those skills or talents.
Im not questioning for a moment that he is a good player, solid. On a scale of one to potato I put him slightly above Dean Collis and Ayshford, on a par with Shane Elford, below Paul Whatuira and a long way behind Simona or Lawrence, BJ or JTJ at their best. Also spare me the lecture that BJ or JTJ werent at their best last year. Of course they werent but even at that standard they were equivalent to Momirovski and he is at his peak.
I agreed with most of this post but surely you're taking the mickey in that last part. Momivorski has played in total 19 first grade games and 1 game for the Prime Minsters team. By that logic, Harry Grant is also at his peak - and won't get any better despite knowing he has plenty of football ahead of him
Not taking the mickey at all and for me this is the whole point of my opinion of Momers. As you say, he has played 19 games, 10 for us. I dont discern any difference in his play and his abilities between the first and last games. He hasnt developed a step, improved positional play pass or anything I can put my finger on. To use your example, look at Harry Grant in his first game for us versus his SOO game. Massive growth and improvement and development. A MUCH better example I would say is Douiehi. His game in a similarly short time since being here has changed and improved drastically from what I thought was a pretty one dimensional player to one that has a great pass and very good positional play. Fittingly I would say that AD & Momers share a limited pallette of physical talents (both tall but not big, not fast).
You have kind of made my point for me. Yes Harry Grant only played about the same amount of games as Mommers, but he has gone from needing a swap to get a run to first picked for origin. Momers has played the same amount of games, at three clubs and we are still discussing for page after page whether he is the 3rd, 4th or 5th best centre in a team that hasnt made the 8 in 10years. I would suggest if there was an upward curve in his progression, this discussion would not be happening.
the been at 3 clubs in 19 matches isn't a proper indication of his ability. Let's be fair dinkum for a moment. 2 of the clubs were premiership winners.
He was nothing more than just an up and comer at the Roosters who might get a run if injuries struck - he was stuck behind the two deadliest centre pairings in the comp (Latrell and Manu). He actually played his second ever game in a sudden death SEMI FINAL - which he actually scored a try in. Now i'm no coach but Robinson must have been fairly confident in his game awareness / defense.
He was then signed by us, where he found his feet and was a regular starter towards the back end with a 75%+ goal kicking rate and an amazing try scoring record. We almost broke the club finals drought that year I might add
Now the storm...obviously he was part of a loan deal, played a few games where he never really looked out of place at all then got injured and that was that. Bellamy is even on record saying if he wasn't injured he would have played finals footy
There is no way he has hit his straps yet is all i'm saying. I don't even think he's strung more than 8 games together because of injury.
Not doubting you mate but have you got a link to where Bellamy said that?
I have a memory that it was actually the Storm CEO.
