Monday Night Football

The final game of the Round, Monday Night Football, is it really necessary?.
I remember back to the Mid 90's when we had a 20 team comp and the family was glued around the radio for the final score to come to see if anyone got the Footy Tab money, gee they were great times, you'd have a few neighbours around listening to the wireless and having a few beers.
The match of the Round well we all saw it on replay, so instead of MNF why not have the final game of the round at 4.30 - 5.00pm live, you know I'm right, let's keep footy for the weekends only.
The only reason I can see for MNF at the moment is to deprive GayFL of the time slot.

Rates its @ss off for Fox. Thats why they get this game as their choice after Channel 9selects the 2 x Friday night games.

Im just dirty that teams like the broncos dont get their fair share of MNF games

I love it when we're not involved…..something to look forward to after that dreary long first day of the week back at work...terrible trying to rush round after work trying to organise and get to our games

i would honestly prefer a saturday game at 3.00\. or another sunday afternoon game.
I love afternoon football

i like it how it is at the moment to be honest although one of the 7.30pm sat night games should be at 3pm on sat arvo instead.

channel 9 game on sunday should be live. 2pm and 4pm games on sunday

I'm not a fan, but it obviously rates highly for $'s in relation to TV Rights… It's a long weekend when the Tigers play on Monday!

I'd prefer to not have the 2 Friday games played at the same time. Either 6:30 & 8:30, or just 1 game. The more Live Games surely must mean better ratings???

with the talk if times etc i reckon that for the final round every game should be played at 3pm on a sunday arvo same as epl. it could make for a real nail biting last round if three or four sides are trying to make the semis or improve their position in the top eight. i know the usual talk of tv rights etc and saturday/friday night footy ratings, but hey the nrl should give it go and allow nine and fox to broadcast multiple games together. i reckon it would be a real ratings killer and has the promise of generating unbelievable atmosphere and tensions at the grounds and those tv viewers.

as someone without fox, a realy dont like it. its like the forgotten game of the round, u hardly hear anything about it.
footy should be kept to friday nights and the weekend IMO

I'm indifferent to be honest.

I make it to most of our home games and a few away games in Sydney if they are on the weekend. I am away on work a bit and Mondays are usually impractical for me to get out and see the guys play but I have fox so it's not an issue.

Personally, I like having four days of football in the week. It sucks having the short week in terms of recovery for the players, but if you have fox it's great for the punters to see so much footy.

I have foxtel but I'm not all that keen on Monday night football unless Wests Tigers are playing. Usually by Monday I am over the footy until WTs game the next weekend. I have been to home games when WTs are playing on Monday nights and its a pain getting to the game from work.

Surely the crowd figures would count for more than tv ratings

100%

Money from Gate is insignificant in the grand scheme of things especially in comparison to Advertising $$$ raked in by the ratings…

Clubs get millions from TV and the wrights deals where as putting on the games is a liability and a financial cost.
