Can’t come soon enough but why is Mbye still Captain and selected each week - if you pick up a stray dog and feed it every day it won’t leave!


If they don't pick him what Club will show interest in him, he is a good utility player at best and i think at $450k that will interest a few clubs.
Personally i would be playing him off the bench for the rest of the season.

Normally I would agree with you however by playing him each week it shows up what he’s not worth, his value is depreciating rapidly - nobody wants a lifeless body out there .. if Mbye was any good Ivan would be picking over the carcass!

Well he has'nt been dropped this season, unlike Benji, Garner, Renyolds, Brooks bench spot but understand your point, might be better off the bench in shorter stints to show at least a utility value. Personally lets hope the Titans pick him up.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Wests Tigers would be prepared to pay half Mbye's $800,000 per season salary for the next two years if he was offloaded to a rival team, with the Gold Coast Titans interested.

Mbye is a Queensland State of Origin representative but is a big-money player in a team that looks doomed to again miss the finals. The Herald reported that the Tigers were also trying to offload Josh Reynolds, who is on a similar salary, to a Super League club.

Mbye was made captain by coach Michael Maguire last season but Benji Marshall was made co-captain this year. Maguire has clearly been frustrated by his team's sluggish progress and is looking to refresh the roster.

Key to the club's thinking over Mbye, according to the Herald, is their hooker situation.

On-loan No.9 Harry Grant would become a free agent if Cameron Smith extends his career at Melbourne; or Brandon Smith may become available if Grant returns to the Storm as their first-choice hooker.

Mbye has been discussed as a hooker or five-eighth by the Titans. Having joined the Tigers in mid-2018, his versatility has been somewhat counter-productive to cementing a permanent, specific role in the team.

Now this is what i call clearing out the deadwood at the Club, i suspect he will try harder this week as now playing for a contract at another club.
Well done MADGE it shows you have the long term interests in place and know who is performing, will now put pressure on other players off contract in 2021.

Freeing up $400k for the next two seasons is great. It’s not like Mbye is an integral part of our team, hes a solid player but can be easily replaced. We have Momers back next season who could move to centre, young AJ can cover fullback and we could sign another outside back with the money if need be

wow didn't realise we paid that much for Moses.

I can see why we're struggling on the pitch, positive is the tigers are trying to start over again and getting rid of guys like Packer; Reynolds et al and their massive contracts
