Yup, we'd be silly to let him go this season. Let him go next year when Simpkin is more ready to go or we sign another utility.

Hopefully we are working at getting someone decent off broncos in return for Billy - not many in their top 30 are very appealing. Maybe they have a rookie somewhere we could use

We are a much better chance of playing finals with Mbye in the team. Unless an advantageous swap of some kind can be worked out, definitely would be keeping him this year.

I hear what you are saying but disgruntled players are not good to have on rooster. Happy to see him go*italicised text*

He's never sounded disgruntled to me at all

There more I hear about Mbye the less I like him. Positions himself as if doing the right thing but in reality he has been a massive failure. He has been doing the wrong thing for well over 12 months now and his poor on field performances and weaknesses are being overlooked because of his slick talk. I’m starting not to like him one bit.

Not sure how you can dislike the bloke that knows he isn't performing and is trying to help the club. End of the day he's played fine when he's been here, just hasn't lived up to his price tag and that's not his fault

Obviously he has his own motivations for wanting a release but he could've easily just bludged like Packer does and collect his money every week but he's trying to help us out.

Don't think there's any negatives in this situation at all and surely no reason to start disliking the bloke, he's not being arrogant or smart he knows he hasn't been good enough and is owning it.

Don’t let him fool you, he’s not trying to help the club he’s trying to help himself and to ensure he gets a contract from somewhere moving forward.

Which also greatly benefits our club... what's the issue again? He's helping us and he's helping himself, it's a win/win. He went about it super professionally and I doubt it affects his training or playing. You'd rather him stay on for all of next season?

How about he actually tries to improve his on field performances instead. That would benifit the club. But no instead he is white anting the club by saying they didn’t look after his injury, but he’ll be the hero and organise another contract elsewhere. Yeah right, looking after the club interests NOT.

What are you even talking about? Firstly he played quite well last week, noticeable difference when he came on the field. In fact more often than not he plays solid for us (not worth his salary, but solid)

Secondly he DEFENDED the club after Buzz said he was angry about an undiagnosed injury saying that's a normal part of footy and doesn't blame the club for it at all.

Please open your eyes he’s a fake player who sucks people in. His on field performances have been puke. The fact that he mentioned the injury means he does blame the club. Otherwise don’t say anything. He is trying to position himself as look at poor me, Wests didn’t look after me that’s why my on field performances were bad. It’s Wests fault not his. Total crapola.

Only time he mentioned the injury was when he said he has no hard feelings about it in response to Buzz talking horse crap....

If you see the guy that is literally putting his hand up saying 'I'm not good value for money' as trying to blame the club for something that's fine. You clearly don't like the bloke and are figuring out a way to hate on him even if it's made up.

Not gonna change your bias so will end this particular conversation here!

He has to go and go quickly...that quote basically says he has mentally checked out already.

"A little rut"...needs a "fresher feel"...you are on more money than anyone at the club mate...over 800 grand. You should not be in a "little rut"...you should have been setting the standard for that coin.

Mate I took those comments the same way. It reads like he has checked out.
Reads as if his separation from the club is more immediate than first thought. Hopefully (assuming he doesn’t play out the contract) Hartigan & co are able to do another savvy deal. ?
Interesting that he is also putting quotes out there about the Broncos holding a spot for Billy Walters.

Think his off field game is better than his on field game tbh...!

He certainly knows how to do business. Trying to get a contract extension essentially and can't blame him for that - at least it will benefit us! For once a player that wants out is someone we actually *want* out ?

He is starting to annoy me as well. He never really has. I reckon he tries hard and really puts in but lacks the power to be a quality player. He is also massively overpaid and I'd love us to move him on.

Dumb to let Moses go this year while ever he is in our best 17. It is a professional sport Moses can sort his future for next year and see out his commitment this year like many players before him have done when decisions are made to move on.

A $400k a season player is not going to suddenly become a superstar because they're getting paid $800k... if that was true Tigers would've had plenty of superstars over the years!

This to me is the big problem with Mbye.

He won't be good value for us next year either if were paying him$400k to wear another club's jersey.

What hes actually doing by "positioning"himself as a no 14 is reducing his price tag in the eyes of potential buyers(and seller)...so we get stuck with the difference vs his $800k locked in contract for next year..so we pay more than we shld
Surely were on top of this ..starting with a no media speak edict!!

As long as they're a player with a future at the club it's a win. Money could also be used to retain someone like Liddle if need be. Whatever way you slice it having Mbye here on huge coin is a big negative for us, freeing even some of that up is a win.

He won't be good value for us next year either if were paying him$400k to wear another club's jersey.

Better than paying him $800k to play for us that's for sure. That $400k can spent on much better things than Mbye being off the bench or even reserve grade

Whoever we sign to replace him will effectively be costing us $400k off the cap. He'd wanna be good.

As long as they're a player with a future at the club it's a win. Money could also be used to retain someone like Liddle if need be. Whatever way you slice it having Mbye here on huge coin is a big negative for us, freeing even some of that up is a win.

If he put in like last week then I'd disagree. But what your saying is some sort of a win. Not signing these contracts in the first place would be better.

He has to go and go quickly...that quote basically says he has mentally checked out already.

"A little rut"...needs a "fresher feel"...you are on more money than anyone at the club mate...over 800 grand. You should not be in a "little rut"...you should have been setting the standard for that coin.

He checked out of the club Round 25 2018, when they lost 51-10 against the Wabbits. His whole attitude changed from then on.

Dumb to let Moses go this year while ever he is in our best 17. It is a professional sport Moses can sort his future for next year and see out his commitment this year like many players before him have done when decisions are made to move on.

Yeah, I think we're best off keeping him this year as we've seen how short we are on depth. If we can get him off the books for next season, go for it.

Very well said telltails....The Mbye haters dont quite get it,as you say its a professional sport and they are in the spotlight 24/7...he has represented the club exceptionally well while here...As far as the comments go that he was in a "rut" and needs a "fresh feel"...he has been shifted from pillar to post because of his versatility and done the best he can in all the positions he was put in...the haters dont understand what effect it has on a players ability to play different positions that he isnt a specialist in...because of his halves/fb salary that Ivan was responsible for, theres this expectation that he has to be brilliant anywhere on the paddock....he does a good job in fb,centre and 5/8...on Easter Monday the team picked up noticeably when Moses came on and did very well himself...
Haters can keep on hating, but it wont change the situation that we have this year with hardly any NRL proven depth...Madge knows that as well...if he goes then good luck to him in the future....

And some people are just blind and sucked in by slick talk. The sooner he goes the better off the club will be. I'd prefer to blood one of the juniors instead, and take a hit this year if necessary, than persevering with this phoney.

When you have no accountability Mike you can suggest anything. It doesn't work that way for Maguire. He

You know some days back in this exact thread I said we’d be silly to let him go this season, as I thought he might bring us some value, but the longer this goes on and the more he talks I’m starting to wonder. We certainly need something in return- talk of a potential 3 way deal with Cows, and Maguire to Dragons gets us nothing!
