Moses Mbye Super Duper Thread

For me as much as we want Mbye moved on due to his 800k salary next year I don't see the point if we have to pay more than 400k.. We can still use others and have him there a back up as he covers a lot of positions. if Dragons want him they need to pay at least half or no deal.. or unless we have a big signing coming in and need the 400k    Needed a laugh - Us getting a big name

Its not about the money any more with Mbye. I think he should be moved on at whatever the cost.

Of course it's about the money, you may be talking about a lot of it and then, you need to replace him? I don't think he will be resigned, but atm, he is a perfect 14 for us?

Injuries happen, you need someone to fill in when they do.

Understand what you have said. I just don't think he performs at a level justifying selection. The way he plays also suggests to me he doesn't try.

I agree, he isn't worth what he is being paid, but who else do we have that can cover the backline and hooker?

Just read a msg from a source from Dragons saying “mbai” for next years pack. I’m hoping it was a spelling mistake. Is there another mbai playing in or around NRL?

A source who can’t spell the guy’s name sounds solid.

Perhaps it was Declan from WTPod. That's how he pronounces Mbye's name.

Is marcus bai coming out of retirement?

Just had a look at the dragons forum and they're saying that Mbye has signed with them for 2 and 1/2 year deal effective immediately.
Heard it on MMM from Brent Read he said it should be announced within the next 3 to 4 days

yes please. hopefully we've only got him on our cap for $350k or so. something tells me he's been the source of a couple of leaks that have come out recently as well, that should help too. keen to see Simpkin in the 14 again.

If Moses does go to the Dragons then I wish him all the best...Overpaid by Cleary who then left the bus...Mbye has been a good 14 for us and hope he does well in the future...I cant hate on him...but I can on Mitch Moses...

I actually think M'Bye is a decent buy for St Choke. wouldn't be costing them anymore than $600k, would partner up nicely with Hunt and eventually move to 14 when Sullivan and/or Amone come through. just didn't work out here, wish him the best.

Dragons reportedly lay law down to Tigers over Mbye
The St George Illawarra Dragons are reportedly on the hunt for Wests Tigers' utility Moses Mbye, but they have now made their position extremely clear.
He is either going to be in a Red V jumper by the transfer deadline at the start of August, or he never will be.
The utility has been linked to the Dragons for a mid-season switch, however, the Dragons aren't interested in waiting around.
Speaking on Triple M, The Australian journalist Brent Read has said the Dragons won't be taking Mbye's contract for next year unless they get him this year.
“They obviously looked at Mbye earlier in the year but it did not get any traction,” Read said.
“They’re looking at him again.
“They want him for the rest of this year, he has one year on his contract after that.
“It’s become a case of now or never. If he does not come now the deal is off the table.”
The Dragons are understood to still have roster spots available, given the sacking of Paul Vaughan, and the fact they haven't had 30 throughout the season. The Dragons have also lost Eddie Blacker and Shaun Sauni-Esau during the season.
Mbye has struggled to lock down a consistent spot at the Tigers, swapping positions in Michael Maguire's side and often playing from the bench.
While he had a strong performance last weekend against the Brisbane Broncos from the bench as the Tigers staged a dramatic comeback, it's understood Mbye is open to a move in an attempt to get his career rolling again.
The 27-year-old hasn't had the greatest time during his years at the Tigers, despite being a prized $900,000 per season recruit from the Bulldogs during the 2018 season, where he had played 94 games.
His 56 games at the Tigers have seen him bounce around the team, playing anywhere from fullback to centre, to hooker and the halves. While he has played for Queensland during that time, Mbye himself has acknowledged his form isn't where it needs to be.
It's understood the Tigers would need to pay a portion of Mbye's contract if he were to secure a change of club, with the Red V unwilling to fork out the total amount.
St George Illawarra are unlikely to use Mbye in a starting roll, given their dearth of young talent coming through, with all of Tyrell Sloan, the Feagai brothers, Jayden Sullivan and Junior Amone unable to get a starting position in the backline. However, with the Dragons struggling for a consistent bench utility, Mbye could slot into that role at the club with ease.

WT are probably going to have to stump up 350k or 400k to get this over the line

Don't know if I can believe an article written by a journo that clearly doesn't know what dearth means.
Unbelievable........the standard of journalism.

I think i'd be ok with that. Parting ways would be good for both parties.
