The 14 is also a good spot for him here, IMO. We get rid of him, who fills his role?

We carry Simpkin or someone on the Bench,

We will figure it out.

Mbye is good but NOt 900K worth of good.

ZDC ? Lol

Hopefully they swapped for Lomax

Would love for sullivan tbh or lomax

The Coach at the Dragons would be keen to offload some of the bbq boys.

It will probably be announced Sunday night as something positive to help with this weeks performance.

Dragons reportedly lay law down to Tigers over Mbye
The St George Illawarra Dragons are reportedly on the hunt for Wests Tigers' utility Moses Mbye, but they have now made their position extremely clear.
He is either going to be in a Red V jumper by the transfer deadline at the start of August, or he never will be.
The utility has been linked to the Dragons for a mid-season switch, however, the Dragons aren't interested in waiting around.
Speaking on Triple M, The Australian journalist Brent Read has said the Dragons won't be taking Mbye's contract for next year unless they get him this year.
“They obviously looked at Mbye earlier in the year but it did not get any traction,” Read said.
“They’re looking at him again.
“They want him for the rest of this year, he has one year on his contract after that.
“It’s become a case of now or never. If he does not come now the deal is off the table.”
The Dragons are understood to still have roster spots available, given the sacking of Paul Vaughan, and the fact they haven't had 30 throughout the season. The Dragons have also lost Eddie Blacker and Shaun Sauni-Esau during the season.
Mbye has struggled to lock down a consistent spot at the Tigers, swapping positions in Michael Maguire's side and often playing from the bench.
While he had a strong performance last weekend against the Brisbane Broncos from the bench as the Tigers staged a dramatic comeback, it's understood Mbye is open to a move in an attempt to get his career rolling again.
The 27-year-old hasn't had the greatest time during his years at the Tigers, despite being a prized $900,000 per season recruit from the Bulldogs during the 2018 season, where he had played 94 games.
His 56 games at the Tigers have seen him bounce around the team, playing anywhere from fullback to centre, to hooker and the halves. While he has played for Queensland during that time, Mbye himself has acknowledged his form isn't where it needs to be.
It's understood the Tigers would need to pay a portion of Mbye's contract if he were to secure a change of club, with the Red V unwilling to fork out the total amount.
St George Illawarra are unlikely to use Mbye in a starting roll, given their dearth of young talent coming through, with all of Tyrell Sloan, the Feagai brothers, Jayden Sullivan and Junior Amone unable to get a starting position in the backline. However, with the Dragons struggling for a consistent bench utility, Mbye could slot into that role at the club with ease.

WT are probably going to have to stump up 350k or 400k to get this over the line

I think i'd be ok with that. Parting ways would be good for both parties.

I guess if we also back end the last year with leftover money
we pay 400k
Dragons 500k
deal done then we can back end our 400k from the balance of this year , say take another 200k off so next year we effectively pay 200k for Mmbye.
I think we can do this type of thing with the cap if we have some left can't we ?

I doubt we'll be that lucky.

we can always hope it costs nothing lol

It's a real pity how things have turned out for him at the club and I wish him the best if he does leave midseason. Despite my personal disappointment with him, this year particularly, I still believe he has some great qualities that will better serve another team.
Has the gift of the gab, a range of skills and some leadership ability. But don't think he was ever the right candidate for our team.
His early motivations and strengths - for the team's needs - were befitting however due to our evolving needs he didn't quite develop into any of his professional roles for us.
It's such a shame as there was a time I'd enjoyed the confidence he once brought to the team through his efforts.

At half the price, then he would be a fan favourite for his Attitude and utility.

The reality is his contract continues to be crippling the club

Another player who has robbed the tigers. Will be up there with the top thieves of tigers money in history. Up there with Reynolds and packer. Thanks Cleary, another one of your amazing legacy byes.

Mbye was better than them because he actually played. Reynolds and Packer were the worst but I worry Musgrove might be a bad one too.

Played is a strong word, it suggests he competed. How about we agree on the fact that he took the field?

I’m not so sure about this? You should be putting in 100% and bust your arse regardless of what you’re being paid.

I have no hard feelings with Reynolds, he wanted to play but was cruelled by injury. In the few chances he got he always tried his guts out.

Mbye, though. The bludger stopped trying a long time ago.

I think that’s fair. He did play some good games in 2018 but since then he’s been not good.

Let’s not kid ourselves he’d be a very decent signing for a lot of teams on $3-400k he’s just not the player we paid ridiculous amounts of money for. You can blame Ivan for that and Pascoe he signed off on it. We just need him off our books because he’s chewing up massive cap space for very little return certainly not marquee return. The reason Mbye makes the team every week is his price tag otherwise he would have spent time in reggies.

The frustrating part in all of this is the WT know they are paying Mbye too much, but they're also too dim-witted to release him to the Dragons this year, which means we'll be stuck with him for next year.

Don't tell me we are saying no to the Dragons offer??? That will do me.

I got the strong impression from Madge in his pre-match interview that Mbye isn't going anywhere.

It sucks...but not sure giving him away for free is the right move either...as much as I would and throw in a Bunnings Voucher...
