Most Underrated Player 2000-2011

I was having a think about this recently, after 12 seasons who do you think has been the player that has contributed the most to our performances but perhaps haven't got the wraps and accolades.

A few come to mind…

Ben Galea, particularly in the GF - his tidy up work in that game, and many more is often forgotten.
Darren Senter, for his efforts in the early days of the Tigers - his spirit and determination was huge.
Mitch Brown, has never let us down, is versatile and safe.

Anyone else? Halatau? Richards? Elford? Whatuira? Fitzhenry?

Mitch Brown and Ben Galea for sure.

The mayor of Minto - Skandalis. He's well rated here, but by the general Rugby League populace he was never highly regarded.

I always felt bad for Darren Center. Gave 100% each and every game in a team full of blowhards (Hill, Hoppa, Field, Manu, even LAMB all spring to mind) was cagey and wiley when needed, and Captain courageous at other times.

Unfortunately chose the wrong season to retire, as he probably could have gone around one more year.

The club didn't want him too. He was lucky to get a contract for 04, let alone 05\. I will say one thing though, I alwayz remember round 1 2002 against the Dogs, in about 30 degree heat he came out and had a blinder after being up all night with food poisoning. Considering i got food poisoning two weeks later, and how it sat me on my arse, i alwayz look back at the way he played that day and has my respect

joel caine was very good in the early days to be leading pointscorer in the comp for a team that missed the 8 is a great effort

Ben Galea was always my favourite player and highly under-rated. He shouldve played many Representative games!!!

While probably not Representative type players, I also think Mark O'Niell, Kevin McGuinness & Bryce Gibbs were under-rated.

Gotta agree with Watto…
Ben Galea
Bryce Gibbs...
I watched the GF again 2 nights ago.... And some of his work left me dumbfounded (again)
In the last 2 years Brycie has been my favourite player...
BOTH are TOP FELLA'S to go with it....

Corey Pearson, highly talented, used ineffectively

Yep I agree, he always managed to get an offload away, he was probably my favourite player in the early days.
I still remember the end of a game against Canberra, we came from behind and with about 5 seconds left he got a great offload away that would of won us the game, but the ref somehow called it forward.

Blake Ayshford.

Yeah I think at the moment that's a fair call but some of the "experts" were taking note in the latter stages of the year - I think he just get's better and better and surely will represent at least in City v Country in 2012.

Yeh ben galea lasted the test of time so he's a fair choice. I remember watching him in the lower grades and thinking he wasnt much, but he was one of those players that was better the bigger the challenge. Have a look at his games when he was captain….some of his best. On a side note...pre 2000 i think Micheal Gillette was underrated

This thread needs more of Tex Walker. I was always a fan of this guy, very strong player in my opinion. Next to Skando as our best front rower for the first half of the decade.

He was only here for one year but certainly made a great contribution at Balmain - along with Jason Lowrie
