Most Underrated Player 2000-2011

You're right guys, from Wikipedia…

Shane Walker (born 4 January 1971), was a rugby league footballer of the 1990s and early 2000s. He played for the St. George Dragons in 1990 and 1992, the Eastern Suburbs Roosters from 1993–94, the Balmain Tigers from 1995–99, the Wests Tigers from 2000–01 and finally the Melbourne Storm in 2002.

There you go my memory lets me down!

Shane Elfords efforts in 2005 were tremendous but pretty much unheralded . He was just great in the centres and played injured in the final series

Ben galea gets my vote. Very much underrated. In the last 2 yrs, most underrated would be Gibbs then fulton

Johnny morris for mine.it wasnt his fault he cant play half back but biy he tried his guts out for us week in week out.

Special mentions:bryce gibbs,ben galea,phats,fitzhenry,elford,skando

Willie Manu - might have been on the outer when Sheens came to the club but he was one of the best for the Tigers for a few seasons…..could offload the ball with 5 players tackling him and could score a try also.
Cant go past Galea though, always put in 100% and should have been captain.

Yeh ben galea lasted the test of time so he's a fair choice. I remember watching him in the lower grades and thinking he wasnt much, but he was one of those players that was better the bigger the challenge. Have a look at his games when he was captain….some of his best. On a side note...pre 2000 i think Micheal Gillette was underrated

Agree with both of those. Gillette did very well in a pretty ordinary side. Ben Galea had great footwork for a big guy. A very important player in our 2005 charge to the title.

Yes Michael Gillette got completely hard done by -

One of those guys who looking back I thought couldn't tackle to save his life, however thinking about it now the poor bugger got stuck having to make one on one tackles on players who were simply unstoppable, due to the rest of the team going to crap around him.

Although he always seemed to be hurt, I didnt mind watching Ben Duckworth, I always thought he was pretty skillful with the ball for his size

Absolutely, a guy with a great amount of natural ability and one that should have gone on to much higher honors.

You're right injuries held him back enormously!

Laffranchi. Played above his weight. In 05 he outshone Rauhihi,Webcke,Civoniceva,Ryles and Bailey in the Finals series.

He may have been under-rated when he was with us but he did play for Australia after he left us.
