Not a movie but a mate lent me a tv series called Game of Thrones. Anyone rate it?

Only seen a few episodes of the first series, hasn't been too bad actually.

Have not seen it but the general consenus is that it is currently one of the best tv shows out there and was also the most widely pirated show last year.

Game of Thrones is the best show ever made IMO…The twists & turns in this series are jaw dropping.
The second series is probably the best of the 3 so far & although the 3rd is probably the slowest, last couple of episodes are unefingbeleivable MUST WATCH TV

GOT is awesome. definitely give it a go. at first i was wary of it being some sort of medieval sorcery type thing, but its not like that. it is almost as good as Dexter, although this latest season has started pretty slowly..

Agreed gunners…he is a top actor and most of his performances have prodeuced great films...

also
The aviator
Catch me if you can
Gangs of New York
The Beach
Whats eating Gilbert Grape?
The basketball diaries.....

He is awesome in this as well. Truly evil charcter who is both charasmatic and menacing....

agree dicaprio has truly turrned into a great actor: the departed was awesome and the first time i really rated him. Quick and the Dead is another good leo film.
but Whats Eating Gilbert Grape? sorry, but i have to disagree. i thought he was horrid in that!

i loved django unchained: great movie with some really funny bits as well, but in saying that, i thought leo wasn't really all that well cast to be honest. he just looks too young for that part imo. still, fantastic movie.

Thanks for the updates fellas. Yeah I love it now. Up to about the 6th episode of the first series and I rushed home from work to watch some more before the girlfriend could make do anything haha. Score.

Game of thrones is the best! Read the books as well, and I'm not much of a reader and they are just amazing just how your perspective of someone or something can change in an instance real well written.
The tv series just complements everything, probably the first time a book and tv series or movie has just worked!

The winter is coming!

Ps Keith Galloway should be called lady stark! Haha

Another HBO classic.
Can they do wrong?

Watched Broken City with Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe last night. Brilliant film. Keeps you guessing all movie. Based around dodgy politics. My girlfriend doesn't normally like movies like these but she loved it too.

If you like a bit of a Hangover style flick. Watch 21 & Over (same producer as The Hangover). Few great laughs in it.

Yeah mate just finished the third season. Massive, shocking twist in the second last episode. One of the craziest scenes I think I have ever seen in a tv show. Rivals the twists in The Shield (involving Lem) and Sons of Anarchy (involving Opie).

I was sceptical of it as I thought it was a 'Lord of the Rings' type rip off. I was completely wrong thank god (as I hated lord of the rings…the boring, PG rated crapfest that it was). This show has balls. It is violent, shocking, the characters are treacherous beyond words...It contains superb writing and very skillful acting. The story takes a fair bit of concentration as so much is happening at the one time and there are literally about 100 characters. I dont know how many seasons they are planning on doing but I am extremely interested to see where it goes from here.

It's awesome. Finished the first season a few weeks back and am hanging to see the second, but haven't got around to it coz of work.

Love Sons of Anarchy too.

If you're into your comedies though I suggest picking up Eastbound and Down. The first two seasons aren't that great but the third is one of the funniest shows I've ever watched if you've got a warped sense of humour like me (think Will Ferrell/Zach Galifinakis.) The actors name escapes me but he's been in a few movies like Pineapple Express,The Foot Fist Way.

Revolves around a washed up egotistical baseballer who still thinks he's the best there is, has no dad skills (leaves his baby in hole in the sand and covers it with a towel so he can go for a bodyboard, carries the baby in a back pack and feeds it lettuce). Highly recommend season 3.

Saw 'This is the End' tonight. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much during a movie. It's mostly boys humour but it's hilarious.

Watched Oblivion recently and I thought that was a pretty decent sci-fi flick with an interesting story.

Anyone seen The Heat yet? I thought it was a chick flick until a few of the boys told me it was a crack up.

Also looking forward to seeing 2 Guns with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg.

Watched an old classic with a brilliant soundtrack last night on DVD …....Bad Influence staring James Spader & Rob Lowe, filmed in 1990.

Some great tips here, thanks!

I watched Oblivion the other day. I did like it as it is a great 'home theatre movie': great to look at and hear if you know what i mean? It looks and sounds great!
I think it is best watched with an open mind though, as I have seen a lot of movies that it draws heavily from (Moon, 2001 most obvious).
Still, it's a fun sci fi, and often it's good to not have to think during a movie!

Foxtel last week had Worlds Fastest Indian which I stumbled upon. I had forgotten what a great movie that is.
Warrior is good, but The Fighter is great.
Not sure if anyone will be interested in this one a bit from left field, but there is a movie about deaf former mma fighter Matt Hamill called either The Hammer or Hamill. It may sound like its about mma but there is none in it. It is a biopic that is actually pretty inspirational.

Thanks tigertye, just finished watching The Heat.
It has a real Ace Vetura feel to it and there are lots of really funny moments!
