MOYLAN MAYBE RELEASED ..

There is a big whif of Hayne about him. Tiger Pom rasises a good question, Why are Penrith willing to let him go? Tyrone May has played a dozen games, and already they are willing to move along an Origin player for him? I don't buy it. It's do to with his personality, which from what I have heard, he is a maggot of a person. I will be happy to see us steer clear.

Agreed we dont need a loose cannon at the club

Why did they let Ivan go?

Ivan Cleary knows him and speaks highly of him. if he believes he is worth going after I would rather back him, than worrying about what Gus's motives are on this issue. From the outside looking in It appears to be a Griffin/ Moylan issue more than anything else. Barrett and Cleary have both expressed interest, and both know and have coached him.
Highly unlikely - but would be an excellent acquisition especially at this stage of his career.

Moylan might have some personality problems, but I would imagine Penrith reasons for releasing Moylan..if they do, will be more about salary cap than anything else. Easy way to get your books out of the red and maybe re direct some of that cap space to a no7 who is in big big demand, and of course it is far easier to make that call if there is also friction between him and his team mates

I am against the general consensus and would rather not see Moylan at this club.As good a player as he might be he seems to have the same attitude as Hayne. Why are the Panthers willing to let him go?For all the flak that Gus cops he does know the game.

Because they don't want to over-capitalise in play makers and they have prioritised Cleary and Edwards over Moylan going forward.

People are saying that Ivan Cleary rates Moylan, why do we think this? Because Cleary has said positive things about Moylan in the press. Have we heard Cleary say anything less about anyone in the press?

Advantages for Cleary to say positive things about Moylan in the press:

* On the off-chance Moylan does come to the Tigers
\

* On the off-chance another player sees the goodwill and it encourages them to come to the Tigers
\

* It may increase interest in Moylan, driving up the price for other suitors

Cleary I think is a shrewd operator, who knows that the psychological component is a massive part of footy these days. Having the right persona, coming across as a coach who would be 'good' for a player is massive. Cleary is very possibly the first coach WT have ever had with the right mindset in this regard. It doesn't mean he is after Moylan, (and it doesn't mean he isn't,) but I am impressed how the persona and actions of our coach mean we are looking good whichever way it goes.

Cause Gus was a Goose. Gus couldn't get control that is why.

Sounds pretty convincing in regard to how Cleary feels about Moylan whether he has any intention in getting him over to WTs we will see I guess

Gus is a Goose. I had a friend who worked at Panthers in a office capacity. Gus has Zero People skills and those that work there have to be at his beck and call. Anything non football he does not care (ok fine). But Gus treats people like Garbage.

I think Gus threw Ivan out because he recruited all he knew in the Warriors. Then you pick up Anthony Griffin who has contacts with the Broncos players. If Gus was just wanting to mine contacts then that would have explained the switch. But we haven't seen Gus/Griffin raid the Broncos.

You and Ivan have differing opinions then, a quote from Ivan 2 weeks ago.
"I rate him as a player and as a person."

Agree good post ,there are a lot of areas that make a good coach .. physiology is defiantly a key component .

I never called Brooks a maggot, I wish he progressed like we all wanted, but he hasn't

Didn't say you did, but you don't rate him, and Cleary does.

I said he needs to be dropped to learn about accountability because he has been picked regardless of form, we have players to cover the halves now so I will wait and see how it pans out.
If It was up to me he would start in reserve grade until he proves he can handle the duties of an NRL half.
Will see how much Ivan rates him if he dishes up the same crap next year, we have way better players looking for a start now.

Dont know him . The discussion is based on Moylan's character and it being a negative. Clearys responses about him are at odds with that school of thought whether he has plans for him at WTs or not.

If we were to get Moylan then I wouldn't be unhappy. Depending on cost of course.

Obviously he's a quality player. With regards to his personality Ivan has dealt with him previously and also has a pretty solid inside information link to know how Moylan is dealing with the Penrith playing group. Therefore I'd be very comfortable if Ivan decides he is worthwhile having here.

I'm a big believer that we should go with our current squad for the year front load some contracts and find out where our weaknesses are ie find out which players don't Step Up and then raid players for 2019\. Unless of course there is a obvious bargain.

The reason why i bring up Reynolds is because Cleary obviously rates him, but it doesn't stop a lot on the forum from trashing him. Yet we are supposed to trust his jusgement of Moylan? Seems like double standards to me.

Can pretty much guarantee have never trashed Reynolds character. I have expressed concerned about his form, injuries his age and length of his contract.
A few years back was a big fan but recently have been a little disappointed in how his game has not matured. A change of club/coach maybe just what he needs. All for a coach who brings the best out of players and hopefully Cleary is the man to do that.
