I'm glad we wont be signing him as we have a spine of Tui, Reynolds, Brooks, and Liddle...there is no room for Moylan...if we hadn't signed Reynolds, then yes, but to waste $700k+ for Moylan given the money we outlayed for Reynolds....no thanks...I think one of out 2 remaining spots on the bus should go to a bustling second rower and a good finishing winger(Rona?)....

i think most people would be ecstatic if we signed Moylan.

On 2017 form that spine is one of the worst in the NRL. They'd want to improve fairly dramatically to be slim chance at making the 8 in 2018

One of the worst - imo Titans, Souffs, Dogs and the Castle are not as good to start with.

If I were to agree with you (which I don't) that would mean we have the 11th best spine in the comp. Do you reckon that's good enough?

:roll

I guess you should blame Cleary if you aren't happy with the spine seeing as how he is the one who assembled it.

Or you could say as Ivan did in the Q & A…Parts still required...

Does Moylan want to play fullback or five eighth? Cause if it's fullback, he won't be going to Manly!

Moylan wants 5/8\. He believes he's more of a chance at making origin at 5/8.

Fair enough, Manly it is then! As long as they can offload Green of course. Can't see anyone but Reynolds playing 5/8 for us.

Girdler rips Gus saying removing moylon sounds alot like the excuse of removing Ivan.

We are surmising here that our spine is 11th on paper - it may well improve so much that it is the 5th or 7th best spine in the comp. Who knows.

What I am saying is on paper at worst imo it is no worse than 11 - it could be sensational.

I have alot more faith in Tui, Reynolds, Brooks and Liddle than you obviously. I think it is good enough to get us into the 8.

I realise no one player is guaranteed a spot but for team harmony I'd like to see us go with plan A. That being Lolohere at fullback, Reynolds and Brooks in halves, Liddle at hooker, maybe Benji off the bench. Put Moylan in the mix and we get discontent, player unrest and perhaps a fractured playing group. I really like the 'one in all in' attitude and a team of solid 1st graders.

Maybe this is why Moylan is so depressed at Panthers. You have Cleary and Cartright and many other juniors coming up through the ranks, obviously there is going to be competition there. Maybe Gus tried one of his pressure cooker competitive pushes and it squeezed Moylan…. But this could be totally outside football, he could have a partner who only likes AFL... 😕

stuff it, the guy is a headcase. Let him resolve his stuff and if it works out that he plays here so be it. For now vultures back off and give the guy some room.

You have lost it - the people that are saying that a forward pack, do not influence a half and his kicking game. If they are getting toweled, the half is on the back foot nearly the whole game when he is putting in his kick.

It is clear that Brooks is the new whipping boy in the absence of JT, Lovett, Rankin, Littlejohn, Moses, Edwards and part timers MCK, Rowdy and Kev. He has a lot to look forward to on here.

With a decent pack in front of him, going forward, an experienced half with him, a full preseason behind him and Ivan Cleary steering him in the right direction (hasn't done a bad job with Nathan) I am expecting a huge improvement in his short and long kicking game. His running to the line, passing and defence have already improved considerably. He is still only 22 years old.

Comparing him to Cleary is totally unfair - Cleary could be anything - we'll see as his career unfolds.

It is as unfair as comparing Cleary with Cronk or Thurston imo.

I don't remember our forward pack getting towelled towards the end of the year. They held their own in almost every game we played. With the likes of twal and eisenhuth coming out , and the rest of the forward pack going forward. Again it didn't lead to the improvements in Brooks it should have. His kicking game was still atrocious and his passing game was okay. His running game definitely improved and he was much more dangerous. I would love for him to be the halfback we all thought he would be. He was very respectful during negotiations for his contract (unlike the other 3). However let's be realistic, his game needs to go to the next level that we are all waiting for. If it does the number 7 is his, but if he doesn't then off to reggies you go.

I've just gone into the forums 3,2,1's of the last 5 games Brooks features quite a bit in our top 3\. Towards the end of the season, It's probably no coincidence that he featured in the points when our forwards found good rhythm.

I think you're on the right path here and I noticed his play improved when Moses left. I think he is now a player that looks like he has played 30-40 first grade games(I know he has played 80 odd) but
I do believe Moses' dominance has stifled his development. With forwards starting to go forward, he is looking more comfortable as the playmaker (short kicking aside).

I reckon he will come good next year and it wouldn't surprise me to see Tigers extend his contract. I'm not so sure Nathan Cleary would wan to play under his father.

I am against the general consensus and would rather not see Moylan at this club.As good a player as he might be he seems to have the same attitude as Hayne. Why are the Panthers willing to let him go?For all the flak that Gus cops he does know the game.

We don't need Moylan , if he chasing the dollars let him go elsewhere. If he genuinely needs a change and sees Ivan as the guy to turn his personal and professional life around..then I'm all for it. Ivan knows him well and knows our cap plus Nathan's intentions/ directions better than anyone. I'm confident he'll make the right choice with Moylan, whether that's to let him go or bring him on board.

As for as our team goes. We have a decent pack and solid backs. Our spine could go either way. Having options here is a good thing.

There is a big whif of Hayne about him. Tiger Pom rasises a good question, Why are Penrith willing to let him go? Tyrone May has played a dozen games, and already they are willing to move along an Origin player for him? I don't buy it. It's do to with his personality, which from what I have heard, he is a maggot of a person. I will be happy to see us steer clear.

Agreed we dont need a loose cannon at the club
