MOYLAN MAYBE RELEASED ..

Both Penrith and Manly forums are pretty confident Moylan Has signed and Green is off to the Warriors.

That seems a pretty silly move for Manly IMO. Their fwds are their (relative) weakness, particularly the edges. Green has been a great fit for them too - suits both DCE and Tommy T.
Still, it means one less competitor should any decent edge fwds appear on the market, so good for us.

You can have to many stars and not enough soldiers and your right Manly were a little soft when it comes to the forwards. Moylan strikes me as player who needs to touch the ball a lot and plan the set. not sure how he will go sharing the role with DCE. The Sharks would be a better fit, he could rum the show, he could also do it at the Tigers playing no6, but I really can't see Cleary moving Reynolds except to inject a player like Marhall of the bench.

Probably stall at Penrith now we have made so many posts

Not going to happen

If he he leaves and that is a big if

Manly have plenty of cap space, a connection with Barrett and very seldom get out bided by a rival club

Cronulla has a Penrith connection with Lewis and Grahame, Maloney is reportedly being offered a arm and a leg to move to ESL and they also badly need a quality playmaker.

And with us, Cleary would not knock him back, but I think he is willing to punt that another player or two will come on to the market that suits or needs more.

I just don't see us in the race at all and I am not to fussed either way

Could you please explain to me how Manly have plenty of space left in their cap?
With players like Cherry Evans $1.3m,Trbojevic Bros on huge money, Dylan Walker big money, Taupau big money, Blake Green regardless if he stays or not presently on good money, paying full freight for Sironen next year, same for Uate, Koroisau and Lewis Brown lured from Penrith reasonable money, upgrade for Winterstein for 2018 plus the rest of the squad. So where's the spare money?
If Moylan is to leave Penrith and go to Manly as you seem to think, more than Blake Green will have to moved on.

That is what I was thinking, manly have bugger all cap room I would have thought with all the money tied up as you mentioned in a string of good players.

I keep hearing Manly have a ton of cap space, this year they were spending a lot of cap on Stewart and Matai and that finishes this year. Okay Siro and Uatea will be full freight next year but I think they have a lot players on basic contracts

Manly were listed as one of the clubs in cap trouble in other threads. While they are no longer paying Matai & Stewart they have upgraded the Trbs contract, are paying Tapou a fortune along with DCE

Lawrence, Matai, Stewart, Myles and possibly Green all gone - plenty of room for one M. Moylan.

Not necessarily. I bet they have plenty of players on upgraded or backended contracts, the players they released were to be cap compliant. Unless they release green there's no way they could fit Moylan in. We could. We supposedly have a lazy $700k sitting around.

But we have 2 spots to fill.

Thats right and 700g will not get you Moylan. So you would need a substantial TPA to top up Moylans contract in order to have cash left to buy the last ticket on the bus. Also as I said a long time ago, there is enough demand for Moylan to ensure Penrith will not have to contribute to any new contract elsewhere and that demand will ensure he comes with a hefty price tag. All points to one of two Sydney beachside teams to me

Penrith have already stated that if Moylan does leave they will not contribute any of his new contract.

Can somebody please tell me where this figure of 700k left in our cap came from ?
It certainly didn't come from Concord.

What a thought, just last year I was going for Teddy to outplay Moylan for the SOO fullback spot, and now I'm hoping that Moylan jumps on the bus.

It's an estimate mate. A few people have come to that conclusion, but it is only a guess.
Personally I reckon it's around $770k, but I overestimate on other players figures, so it's very probably more.

We know for certain that we have 2 spots left to fill (from either internal from WT or external). That's been confirmed by Pascoe and Cleary.
We did lose out on Connor Watson, and he would have been offered roughly $500k from us, which lends more credibility to the roughly $700k left for 2.
Someone on here posted less than a week ago that we actually have closely to $900k to $1m left.

So who knows.

Thanks TT for the CORRECT ANSWER. It is only an estimate, in other words a wild guess.

Well if it's 2 spots left and we offered Watson $500k and we need to sign one more at minimum wage $150k. That's probably where the figure came from. So it's not a wild guess. If anything it's probably more than that.

A well connected forum member who is normally 100% correct.

Penrith have already stated that if Moylan does leave they will not contribute any of his new contract.

I recall reading pamfers got him at the 500 K mark long term deal remember having the impression bit was low but they give him a longer contract to entice him. They have done that with a few of their players
