The offence of Sexual Touching replaced Indecent Assault in New South Wales on 1 December 2018. A person may still be charged with Indecent Assault if the alleged conduct occurred prior to 1 December 2018.
The maximum penalty for the charge of indecent assault (Section 61L of the Crimes Act) is 5 years imprisonment.
In NSW, a court can impose any of the following penalties for a Indecent Assault charge.

Home Detention
Intensive Corrections Order (ICO)
Suspended Sentence
Community Service Order (CSO)
Community Corrections Orders (CCO)
Good Behaviour Bond
Fine
Section 10A
Conditional Release Order (CRO)

Former NRL contracted players Zane Musgrove and Liam Coleman have been found guilty of indecently assaulting a woman at a Sydney pub.
The pair were each found guilty of one charge of indecent assault at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday following being charged over an incident in November last year at Coogee Bay Hotel.
Both have been given a 12-month good behaviour bond.
The court heard Musgrove, a former South Sydney NRL player, and Coleman, a former Penrith reserve grader, both groped the woman’s breasts while dancing on a night out.
CCTV vision was shown and the woman gave her account of the night.
Musgrove defended his actions, saying he believed the interaction was consensual.
When I kissed her I felt like she was kissing me back, she never said no or told me to stop kissing her, she didn’t say anything along those lines,” Musgrove said.
“We really connected well I thought she liked me and I’d seen her again so we just carried on from the first time I saw her.”
Musgrove had signed on to play for Wests Tigers this year but that contract was torn up when he was charged.
