Nostalgia

80 years ago today, a 21 kiloton yield plutonium implosion bomb, aka "Fat Man", was dropped over the city of Nagasaki, Japan - a tragic reminder of the cost of war.

A little known fact about the 2 nuclear bombs that were dropped on Japan is that out of the 210k people killed about 50k of them were koreans who had been transported to Japan as basicaly slaves to work in the factories. Also unlike Germany children are not taught about the terrible history of there countries involvement in WW2.

In a link to my family, 2 of my uncles were on two different ships, being transported to Japan as POWs, missed being killed because of the bad weather that delayed the dropping of the bomb and allowed them to be put of the area. My aunty, Robyn Moss, edited our uncle's handwritten diaries about his and his brother's time as POWs in WW2, in a book called "On Paths of Ash". It's a really interesting read if you are interested in Australia's involvement in WW2

Thanks for that Susie i will make an effort to find the book as i am definately someone who has always tried to read real history (Antony Beevor is my favourite author and all of his books are factual of what really happened with no jingoistic bs)
