He could definitely be good on an edge but he’s so important to us in the middle I’d keep him there. I notice a big difference when Aloiai comes off.

He is just starting to look like a real good prop and our middle forwards need help. I don't see any point in moving him.

Agree with most the Eiso & Twal thing is a bit of a headache. Either way, both deserve to be in the 17. After a bit of a lay off I think I would bring Twal off the bench after 20-25 mins to control the middle. Play out the remainder

Over short distance.... watch him in a bit of space. He got burned by Croft a few weeks ago and looked like he was stuck in the mud. He’s not running the length of the field ever.

We have to add a player to our bench who is going give us impact .. !! I think its time that Madge digs deep into our roster and finds the next big player .. ?? Since we are allowed to try our development players due to be a weird season, do we try: Madden, Simpkins, Johns, Blore, Zini, Kei .. for me it has to be Blore .. a big, tall, mobile forward .. his video highlights suggest he is the type of player we need coming off the bench.

Brooks must be on his last legs with Madge .. he's had enough time to show what he can do .. in my books he just hasn't shown enough that he can lead this team around .. Madden in for Brooks .. why not .. ?? Madden with Benji .. ??

It’s a tough one with Blore. Considering he did his ACL last year he’s not played for a long while. Only been out of rehab a few weeks so his fitness might be way down.

Garner needs a rocket, he's nowhere near the player he was last year, gone backwards.

This is the second post I have read of yours - saying AD is not a full back and that he is too slow. Fair enough that is your opinion.

However who is the replacement, all well and good saying no but I want to know who gets the yes.

There is no one - so leave him at full back.

While I agree with you, Russ, I do think we need to find an alternative. I think, in some sort of order the best fullbacks are:
Teddy,
Turbo,
Ponga,
Gutho,
Papps,
Charnze,
Tuivsa-Scheck

then a gap to

Dylan Edwards
Latrell
maybe Moylan
etc etc.

I think the Manly replacement is better than AD.

Point being, a great fullback doesn't necessarily make a great team but looking at that list, the top all teams have a very good fullback. AD is a long way from that class.

I basically agree with your list TB - however they all have 2 seasons + playing FB except Paps and that mongrel from Souffs.

I think AD at the end of his 2 seasons will be as good as a few on that list.

If you were to replace AD at FB - no one on that list is available, so you really are looking at a cc player, a bench player etc. You mentioned Brendan Elliot ( I also did in another post earlier) who is a winger for Manly, quite quick, tad over 6 foot and fills in for Tubo Tom from time to time. I like him but I do not think he is better than AD but I think we should go after him as a winger and fill in FB.

Put AD in a spot in the backline, centre or 5/8, and point him at the tryline from 22 out, whether that be a kick, set move or power play.
The top fullbacks elicit a defensive reaction by their very presence, which can be manipulated by them either adding an extra man in sweep plays, running tight decoys or even keeping the defensive fixated on the opposite side to which a play is run to create an overlap. AD isn't dynamic enough to do that but he's definitely big enough and skillful enough to get over the line with the footy.
