Nathan Cleary

People who want him here are kidding themselves or uneducated in reality if they think he'll make any difference behind our current pack. Would go no different to brooks.

Purely and simply this is a gamble. Nathan is good but at 1M, your sort of buying potential- you could hit the jackpot like Ponga but also turn up with rocks.

I think his price is so high because of his age, people are thinking in a couple of years, you may have Cooper Cronk on your hands but then again he may plateau (I am thinking Brett Finch) who really didn’t live up to the hype.

The other factor is Ivan. If they really want him to stay, they may up the ante for Nathan as that who they really value. Although Go and the board did give the green light to get Nathan and left it up to Ivan’s discretion.

Spine:
1: Mbye - awesome.
6: Reynolds/Marshall - jury is out bigtime
7: Brooks - Has one good game a month
9\. Farah/ Liddle - see 6

I’d see about our 6 & 7 especially since they steer the team around, kick, control speed and inject creativity.

Remember in 2005 our spine was great.
Forwards were average at best.
Whatuira and Richards were class but other backs were average too.

In 2005 our forwards were great for the style we played. Hit the line headed to the ground to get a quick play the ball. There was no surrender tackle so defenders couldn’t hang on for an age while the line got set.

I don't understand the question. I thought, according to those here in the know, Ivan is leaving at the end of the season. Why would Nathan want to come here when dad is at Penrith?

I am so sorry I am uneducated and kidding myself :unamused:

He was a bit too quiet in SOO for my liking to spend a fortune on. $650K and same for Luke. Luke can't really handle the big guys so should not be on a fortune.

Luke has handed every big guy thrown st him this year. How many games have you actually watched this year? Serious question.

Brooks has had a really good season with not many targets to hit.

I still dont think he knows how to control a game though and bark his troops into where he wants them to be.

I would take Cleary over him if given the choice. Both would be ideal however i think you will find both Cleary's at Penrith and we can just forget about this.

I remember someone commenting that during Raiders game he could not handle his side in defence but also commented that no one can on that side against Canberra. I have watched every game but missed maybe one or two due to time differences when OS April/May. Other bods there told me I did not miss much coz Tigers lost.

Yeah Tapine made him look silly on one occasion in that game but his defense one on one on big second rowers has been outstanding this year.

Ivan as his manager - does he go hard for the best deal for his son or look after the clubs best interests? So many conflicts of interest with whole situation.

He doesn't have real manager?

Pretty sure I read that Ivan is his manager - but could be wrong.

That's nuts if that's right. How could Ivan do that and be a first grade coach?

For sure. Im not doubting you though.

I believe Geo posted somewhere on the forum that both Ivan and Nathan are managed by Wayne Beavis
