New coach.. Who should we target?

When we signed Ivan was he the best coach on the market at that time ? Yes i believe so.
We need to sign the best thats available now!
If we wait and ponder the best will go to other clubs.
Word out of Brisbane is its down to 2 Madge or Kevvie. With a strong push for Madge!
Where does that leave us?
Up the creek without a paddle.
Waynes the Man sign him before someone else does.
Bring in Bennetts prefferred assistant coach one year early as an interim coach to to start Bennets systems and get the club ready for a 2020 start.

I'm of the same mind. In a way I hope Brisbane choose Maguire because that will just about force us to take Bennett, if he's really interested in coming, even if we have to wait a year. I don't want to waste 2019 any more than anyone else but we have a chance at a top line coach which doesn't come along all that often. And, you never know, but if the Broncos go for Maguire they might move Bennett on a year early.

I really don’t see what the problem is in appointing an interim coach who could work off line with Bennett to get things ready for 2020\. That person just slots into assistant coaching role when he arrives.
If you want someone who you can sell to fans and sponsors as proven winner …. it’s Bennett.
So many positives with him .... just don’t get it why we would hesitate to come to such arrangement?

You’d think this being the case that Broncos would just cut ties with Bennett now?

Having just rolled over memberships for another year I would find it unacceptable to tread water for 12 months waiting for Wayne. He either comes now or not at all.

A hypothetical:
How would we feel if Penrith signed Ivan's assistant to work there until Ivan arrived?
I don't think most would be in favour of that… It's what we're seeing now... It's untenable etc etc
Why can Bennett see out a contract yet Cleary can't?
It's a bit hypocritical imo....

Happy to wait for Unca in any scenario myself.

Who turns down owing a Ferrari in 2020 because they can have a Toyota Yaris in 2019?

I would hardly call a premiership winning coach a Yaris, we have been well served with Yaris's in the past, so I am well versed in them, and Maguire is no Yaris.

He ain't no Ferrari either 851.
Don't think so - those others, they were just the odd Honda Odyssey.

Wayne Bennett would be a huge coup. That said he is not the same coach he used to be the difference between him and Madge is negligible in coaching but Wayne will improve the roster more quickly with his ability to attract talent.

The longer this goes the more likely they are waiting on Wayne in my view. Interesting times.

Interesting times indeed. Coaches musical chairs it feels like. Broncos looking for a coach, tigers and manly looking for a coach. Rabbits possibly looking for a coach..

Ever notice the people who always dispute Bennett as the greatest coach ever because of the luxuries he's had, never offer up an alternative. Same goes with Bellamy. Very fast to shoot them down, but very slow to offer up anyone better.

Jack Gibson always left Clubs in a better state than he found them…

So has Bennett. Newcastle was on Tinkler, not him.

Dragons supporters would disagree Bennett left them in a mess also

Dragons were responsible for their own mess. Easiest thing in the world to blame the guy that just left but…...
