New coach.. Who should we target?

Well to bring up an older topic…

Despite this, Fulton believes Payten should sign with the Tigers if Cleary departs.

“The Tigers have a lot of senior players and Todd would be perfect,” he said.

“He understands the culture of the club and he is a very smart man when it comes to footy.

“Todd coached the Tigers under 20s team and he got the best out of them, so there is no reason why he can’t do the same in the NRL.

“I know he would have the full endorsement of Robbie and Benji.”

“Todd coached the Tigers under 20s team and he got the best out of them"

Sounds like a contradiction in comments to me.

Absolute "NO" from me - he is a "whiteanter" - nothing is forgotten.

It’s pretty obvious what has transpired is that Ivan has been informally advised by Nathan that the Tigers is not where he wants to play.
This now puts pressure on Ivan and gives Gould a leg up in the situation. Ivan may have done everything possible to lure Nathan here but he may be just too Gen Z and just wants to play / stay with his mates.
So what’s Ivan to do.
If Nathan’s next contract is 5 years plus we’llt that’s almost 7 years until he can coach his son.
Chances are what has agreed to at this stage is Ivan coaching the Panthers from 2021 what is happening now is possibly trying every angle to expedite that to next year.

Nathan probably knows being forced to play behind a pack of Packer, Matulino, McQueen etc would be career (and rep football) suicide. Would fancy his chances more playing behind Kikau, RCG, Fisher-Harris etc.
Probably can't blame him for thinking of that cold hard truth.

No one. Is obvious that Wests Tigers are the equivalent of euthanasia for coaching careers

Yet Cleary is just being offered a kings ransom?

Anyway like someone else said my head hurts just thinking about a new coach.

Maybe Madge. Or find Another young guru like Siebold (not easy!)

Why not I say

Didnt he go to warriors recently

Todd payten is a snake.
No thanks.

Kimmorley would be a better option than that bastard.

If it came down to it you'd have to say Seibold!

But Bennett is a master mind and could attract talent to Tiger Land

One of them two only imo

Broncos are targeting Seibold. Bennett to Souths.

Can someone please explain this to me:

If it’s good enough for Penrith to approach Ivan to leave in the middle of his contract term, then why didn’t we do the exact same thing to Nathan?

If we had thrown the kitchen sink at him then maybe we would be the one’s laughing rather than being laughed at.
Feel sick

The NRL have rules in place which don’t allow you to approach a player until a certain period remains on their current contract. The rule doesn’t apply to coaches.

I’m sure it happens all the time with players though. Money talks and the NRL is an incompetent administration on all fronts.

Crikey. Thanks Tbone.

Anyway, it doesn’t really matter who comes in next. Whether it’s Bellamy, Bennett or Jack Gibson, it doesn’t even matter.

Again we have to play this right if Ivan does want out

We must admit it looks like Ivan has sucked out virtually every drop of talent from this squad

So what does that tell us ??

Ivan is a good coach , no doubt , but it also shows this squad is a mile away from being a serious contender

So getting NC here wasn't going to win us a premiership , NC isn't a Sterling or Lewis and probably won't ever be that and even they couldn't lead our current squad to a GF or being a consistent Top 4/8 side

So we battle as hard as hell with Penrith for IC knowing full well he is going, pick the heart out of their talented squad and then get another coach

Currently there are a lot of good quality NRL coaches available , maybe not quite as good as Cleary , but they might have a far better squad to work with at the WT's that is far further along with the rebuild than it may have been talent wise with IC

If Pascoe is as good as we hope he is as a negotiator with his dislike of Gould /Penrith , win / win I reckon

I would love for the roosters to choke in the prelims again, for uncle nick to crack it, and Trent Robinson to become available. I rate him as a coach

Okay lads, first and foremost I want Ivan to stay and finish what he has started, not only with the WT but with us the loyal fans, we bought into the process. In saying that lets be realistic,he hasn't said he's staying, so he is gone.
So knowing that, what does everyone think of the Walker Brothers, hell their time in possession and catch and pass is the WT default. No joke I think its a match.
