Wests Tigers will have a number of new faces in pre-season training as part of an extended NRL squad to start the new year.

With the club's 2020 Development players and fellow youngsters returning to pre-season training today, Wests Tigers can also confirm several new faces will feature as part of a wider squad that will be in operation up until the Christmas break.

Headlining the list is Brad Abbey — who joins the club from Canberra having played 13 first-grade games in his career — and Intrust Super Premiership forward Joseph Ratuvakacereivalu, who recently made his international debut for Fiji.

Joining the pair at training are a number of exciting young talents including Ray Jankovic, Austin Dias, Salesi Fainga’a, Tyrone Faulkner, Jordan Liew, Joseph Taipari and Lachlan Talau — the brother of NRL squad member Tommy.

The remaining half of Wests Tigers training squad will return from their break in the next few weeks as the side ramps up their preparations for season 2020.

I'd like to know more about some of the junior talent coming through - It sounds promising.

@willow It will be interesting to see when our Flegg squad get's named. That seems to be where all the new talent is.

This article also seems to confirm that Abbey is on a CC contract, which is good news.

Could see him training the house down and knocking on the door for a wing spot at some stage - sooner rather than later. I remember rating him when he was at the warriors/bulldogs. He couldn't get a run behind CNK, Cotric & Bailey Simonsson who the Raiders signed from NZ 7's rugby. He's one I'm keeping a keen eye on.

@balmain-boy Good on these young kids who sound exciting and should get a huge kick and benefit training with the big guys. Does make me wonder a bit about why other 2019 Jersey Flegg talents such as Smith, Dillon and Burey can't get to train in the extended squad. Some of these kids seem to get left behind & then we wonder why they sometimes leave to go to other clubs. Surely they could fit in up until Christmas somewhere and give them a bit more encouragement particularly after they have performed well and have runs on the board?
