New homeground

I would have thought the fact that that everyone is playing in Queensland, the top teams are still the top teams, and the Tigers are still the Tigers, puts to bed this idea that our home ground has any kind of bearing on our lack of success.

How about Scotts Head? We could be the Scotts Head Princes...

I remember flying to Scotts Head in a tiny plane for my father to look at a waterfront block of land for between 8 - 12k.
The old man didn't buy it.
Shrewd real estate mogul my dad.

Haha. In the 1980s I could have bought an absolute waterfront fibro shack at Shellharbour for around $40k. My other option was to do an extension to our house. I chose the extension. Bugger!

Leichardt Oval.

It already exists, and is a great place to watch football.

Building a 30,000 capacity stadium for a Tigers home ground seems extremely... optimistic.

Do you have any idea how objectionable that idea is to the Magpies, the 90% owners of the joint venture.
I'm not and never will be a Balmain Tigers supporter.

The Magpies don’t play in the NRL.
Leichhardt is one of WestsTigers current home grounds, won’t be far from the new COE and people love going there.
If they built a new stadium there (keeping a hill) , and addressed the parking issues, it would be fantastic.
Happy if they did similar at Lidcombe Oval.
Unfortunate fact is that fans( ours and especially other teams) don’t like going to Campbelltown.

It is going through the roof there atm. Nambucca Heads to a lesser extent is going gangbusters too - glad I bought when I did. Our place has gone up 150k in two years - pure madness.

From Leichhardt to Campbelltown, there is an abundance of WT fans who are located in many places that at present cover vast areas of our big City, The term "the sleeping giant" refering to the WT has been used many times even by our Madge.

We truly are a sleeping giant of the NRL, but this sleeping giant would need to wake up very soon before the Rivals come and take our land for their own use.

Most would now agree that a new stadium in the inner west is almost impossible to achieve, but even this is not a problem, because while the major shareholders Wests Ashfield and the nearby COE are deeply seated there in the inner west, this area would be well protected from an invasion by any NRL rival.

The real threat by the rivals is in the West, the WT must wake up and cement their relationship with their fans in the West.

This is why i suggested **Minchinbury** (this includes nearby suburbs) as a **new** **homeground**, it is also **geographically ideal** for all the fans, from the inner west to the west/southwest.

If i were a business partner with the WT i would give this a serious consideration and start making enquiries about it now, because when you build a **new stadium** in the middle of the **fastest growing populations** in Sydney, with a **new airport** nearby connected by motorways, after then, business-wise the WT would not have to lift a finger to do anything else because every type of entertainment (including after game bar touring) and all the other types of businesses would have already converged to the area.

The thaught of relocating is absurd, so, relocate and leave this giant of an area to who? The dogs? The panthers? The eels,?

**WT**, the west/southwest is our territory **wake up** and see all the exciting great potentials under your noses and **stand up like a giant**.

This has been said possibly 100 times: @tony-soprano is correct - Tigers currently still in the 10-year deal committed to by predecessors for financial reasons.

Secondly, the club will find it difficult to make a concrete decision right at this moment when the NSW Govt has not finalised its stadia strategy in the wake of the pandemic. It's possible some boutique venues will get Bankwest-style makeovers, or the govt might change its mind again and work on ANZ.

Pascoe told The Ambush in 2020 that the preference was a Bankwest-style stadium at Homebush, if the NSW Govt was to make that decision.

This is really interesting. I’ve never heard of Pascoe commenting on the clubs preference. It would certainly make a lot of sense for a more central boutique stadium given the infrastructure, space and transport infrastructure at Homebush. It would be a great outcome to get a 25-30k stadium and Homebush for the bulldogs, tigers, souths and maybe even the dragons or panthers to use at times. Better than Liverpool in my view

It was in a conversation with the Ambush, it was a more of a wishful thinking situation.

Have to stop using the “fastest growth areas” as a lead into that’s where you have to go … the Magpies did that 40 yrs ago how did that end .
These areas are mortgage belts the owners there are struggling to pay there mortgage let alone buy memberships and a couple of hundred a fortnight at the footy for a family outing !

I would agree 10-20 years ago. But with the centre of excellence being build in the inner west of the city the players will train and live nearby that area (within reason) therefore making only a cameo appearance to the Campbelltown region prior to and on game day.

The bed was made years ago. There is no point going back to that.
On the back of the huge crowd support during 2004 -2006 seasons we should of retained a heavier presence in the Campbelltown region.
Now playing exclusively there would be a slap in the face to the locals.
It’s basically like saying we are too good to live and socialise in another area but we will use your stadium out of convenience.

It is not and will not be like ‘one team locales’ like Penrith, Newcastle, Manly, Cronulla.

That is not an option for the Wests Tigers anymore.
