New officiating will ruin the grand final

I actually agree with Robinson's take on things. The first couple games they got it wrong, but as time went on, they got it right and refined it. easiest way to enforce a rule change quickly is to sit people down for it. players can still get whacked providing the tackler's technique is strong, look at Blore for example, or a Jaydn Su'a (most tackles, I know he was sat down this week).

All the sendoffs were fair in my view. A couple of the binnings were wrong, but they'll sort that out soon enough. it has to come to a stop if we're serious about this game lasting another 100 years.

I have no problems with the rules, as long as they are applied consistently. I am not surprised Robinson is happy. Sitili's was one of the worse tackles of the weekend, but not only was he not sent off, but both him & Crichton avoided suspension.

If you are saying Sitili's tackle was the equivalent of Tedesco falling into Burr's armpit/chest then that is ridiculous. What about Kaufusi or Leota's tackles?

Whatever new rule is introduced, the outcome is the same. The lesser lights get hammered and the high flyers are ignored.

The new officiating is here to stay it was only a matter of time. People just don’t understand rugby league and the impacts of rule changes. You want people to tackle lower that will bring in spear tackles and concussion for defenders.
You speed up the game you get heavier collisions with defenders not set and off balance.

The smart play would be to recruit 6’5 forwards with an offload and quick play the ball. Good luck tackling Asofa Solomona low.

No, the smart play is to recruit Peter Dinklage as fullback. Should be regularly playing against 10 men.

If they applied the thoughts of Robinson the Burr tackle would be a penalty and on review

Far fairer result

But the game had to come down hard ..it doesn't have a choice

My only argument with the NRL is the issues with players under fatigue argument ...when you are mentally and physically under fatigue you will make mistakes defensively

And the only way you fix that ...more interchanges and limit players to 70 minutes

Ricky in trouble over netball joke.

On Fox Sports on Wednesday night, Kent was addressing reports that Stuart's relationship with some of his Canberra Raiders players was on shaky ground, and paraphrased the coach's response from a conversation he had with him.

"He said there's no issue there," Kent said on NRL 360.

"As Ricky said to me - 'If I can't have tough conversations with my better players I might as well coach netball'."

The subtle barb at netball was not missed by teams, commentators and fans. Ellis, along with other netball identities immediately shared their disappointment at the dig on social media and the legendary former Diamonds captain opened up to Wide World of Sports on why it struck a nerve.

"It riles us. I've got friends who are professional coaches who are really angry about this because it actually casts a pretty poor aspersion… it's having a shot at them, saying they're not capable of having the tough conversations," Ellis said.

Knew this would trigger some folk, haha.
Sorry Ricky, not allowed to say stuff like this any more.

?‍♂️

"Stuart's comments also riled up the Australian Tiddlywinks League chairman Neville Bagswag, who took to twitter to complain about no longer being the punching-bag-of-choice for NRL coaches".

The Burr tackle was a complete farce.

Hargreaves has been coat hangering players for yonks ..
Now that the Shoe is on the other foot with Cordner , Kleary, Friend and lay down sally ( Tedesco) Robinson sends out an directive to his mate V’landys .

They will fix it up obviously ...you leave the game as it is and it won't be here in 20/30 years ....it will almost get forced as an underground sport

Should’ve been implemented years ago not because Robinson has had a whinge

You watch Tedesco become a protected species just because of who he is and with Robinson day that’s his style “ taking on the line”

Question...under the new rules
IMO a utility as a 18th man is 100% necessary

If rounds continue like last round where people get sent off for medical wise and the 18th man comes into play

Having a utlilty would be beneficial

Tedesco style is run at the line, and before a tackle is made , do a burpee so that he can milk contact to head and get them binned

They sent out this edict before the Tedesco / Hutchinson incidents

If you want to keep rugby league ...we are going to have cop this watered down version

Teddy has to stop falling into tackles

Get's his team a free interchange and loses a player for the other side - he'll probably do it more now. Other players might start following suit.

He was doing the same at the WT's ...not as if it started last weekend lol

Wait until blokes are doing a Gary Larsen and diving through the line for a quick play the ball or penalty / sin bin lol

Nah, just big pussies too meek to put on a big hit.

It’s a good strategy at the moment..
Where as our tackles are like a hug from nana every other team are losing players from being sent off ?

Having played both Union and League, I can say, hand on my heart, I maybe went high on someone once in 20 years. I hung the arm out and collared him around the neck as a reflex action.

I **think players can adapt, but they made the point that tackling around the legs ends up penalising the defending side because the play the ball is quicker. Also, a good legs tackle will leave the defender behind the play the ball effectively reducing your defensive line to 12, not to mention exposing you to an offload.**

I think we can all agree that if a player is sent off, then that’s probably going to be game set and match for the team with 12 (depending on the score. I don’t want to see games decided over soft send offs.

I think a sin bin for accidental and a send off for deliberate is the right balance. I.e Joeys coat hanger on Edwards would be a send off, but Papalii’s this weekend would be 10 in the bin. It’s a massive penalty to lose a player for the whole game considering you might make 300 tackles and only 1 goes wrong. Maybe a warning system is the right way to go? Like soccer with yellow cards? We could have yellows, sin bins and send offs for referees to step up punishment for seriousness and repeat offenders.

I mentioned this in another thread. This was my worry as well but most legs tackles are made in a 1 on 1 situation. The attacking teams must have done something right to get in a 1 on 1 situation. I'm happy for the defending team to concdede a fast PTB or an offload in that situation. However, I do hope refs give a second or so more for the defensive line to set for a legs tackle.

And further to that point, the game plan will start getting towards getting defenders 1 on 1 to play off a quick PTB. That one-two punch is one of the best sites in Rugby League.
