Bitter comments on here about waters. The guy set up the tigers last try. No mention of that. If anyone had a shocker it was meaney.

Ed is was a woeful performance. I assume he has played better throughout the year but he is well short of first grade.

Disappointing loss for Balmain's final ever game in the NSWRL Cup, I would have liked the ref to go upstairs for Seluini's try, every other try was reviewed by the Video ref and he would have found a penalthy to the Tigers as Mortimer wasn't standing square when he played the ball, oh well, next year as Wests Tigers could be better.

The player playing the ball cannot be square, he is the center of the ruck….only markers have to be square

The player playing the ball has to be facing goaline to goaline.

Ink don't always agree with you but usually respect your comments. However, this one is just bizarre. It was clear the post was walking about the fact Mortimer was facing straight when he played the ball.

I only saw the tail end of the try….it wasnt clear and assuming makes u look stupid. A clarification was all that was required as his initial description is usually one that is referred to markers
I misunderstood...sheesh :unamused:

So Ink you didn't wonder why the the defending players wanted the ref to go upstairs by making a rectangular motion, didn't you listen to the comentators who made mention of it, not necessarily robbed but…....

Saved their worst finals performance for last.

The Humble injury damaged their chances, Meaney almost pulled out of the warm up with a groin injury and a lot of guys were playing busted. This was compunded by the baking heat in that timeslot and mistakes flowed. A better putdown, a few more conversions and it may have wound up differently but it is hard to be critical. For instance Meaney kicked 5 from 5 last week and that was the reason we made the GF.

But it is football. You go your, do your best and hope it is enough. Yesterday it wasn't but the depth shown through both the State Cup and NYC matches is highly encouraging.

Proud fan and hopeful looking forward for 3 Wests Tigers teams to roll around into next years decider.

Well done to Fletch and all of the players for a wonderful season

Was there another kicker in the side smeg?
Kicking at goals with a groin injury cannot be easy and maybe was the difference in the end.

I thought the boys played well for the most part. They looked more clinical in attack. They needed to take an opportunity early in that 2nd half when Newtown was coughing up the ball. If Gus Aiga grounds that last one in the corner it's a different result too obviously.
I think I was most impressed by Harris and Farlow. The starting second-rowers I believe they were. They looked good. Honest and hard-working.

Farlow, along with Fulton is the best technical tackler I have seen in a long time.

Just watched the recording, can't be too dissapointed. A lot of good performances.

Humble can kick goal and Chisolm can but both have barely kicked all year.

Farlow: good game???

You have to be kidding!!!

Missed a tackle for Newtown's first try, and dropped the ball twice when on the attack. Please watch the game without rose coloured glasses.

That said, a couple of "put downs" and a couple more goals would have won them the game. Just not good enough on the day.

Junior Moors once again showed why we should have kept him at the Wests Tigers, he is too good for reserve grade and will quickly become a star at the Storm.
Tom Humble is good enough to play first grade in the halves, but probably not best suited to playing alongside Benji. Put Humble at 5/8 for the Storm and nobody would notice any difference from Gareth Widdop playing there.
I also think Josh Davis would provide some value as an interchange player as he could play as a damaging back rower who can also play in the backs if required.
Farlow is a good trier who has some ball skills and is a good player to be kept on a low salary who would not let anyone down playing NRL if required, but is not big enough or fast enough or dangerous enough to any damage playing against the good NRL sides. Masada Iosefa is NRL standard, but does not have the work ethic to play for 80mins and while we have Farah he is probably not a lot of value to us. I personally don`t think Simona or Clarke are fast enough or powerfull enough to be regular NRL players, but are good enough to fill in and hold their own if we have a few injuries. Dane Chilsolm was the most gifted player on the field for the State Cup GF, but sadly he is very lazy and will not fulfill his potential while he has that lazy attitude. Rhys Curran is also a very good trier who is another that could easily play NRL and not let anyone down, but is another that will not win you a game at NRL standard either. Saluini, Mosoe , Tupou and possibly Mortimer from the Jets are all good enough to become NRL regulars.

If Junior had displayed a little more patience we may very well have won the game, he made a good strong hit up to be within 10m of the Jets line and then dumps the ball back hoping he had some support, sadly the only players around him were from Newtown and they scored shortly after.

Yeh that was the turning point imo

There was nothing about Juniors game on Sunday which made me think it was a shame we are losing him. A first grade prop should have dominated given the quality of that game. He didn't.

Davis and Simona were the first graders in that side. Simona is deceptively quick as he showed when he played fullback in first grade. I like Jake Clarke but not big enough for first grade.

The back rowers are all handy footballers but none are big enough in the modern game.

I thought Politoni looked good when he came on. He is worth persevering with.

Chisholm is sharp but doesn't look like an organiser. Looks like a very selfish player.

Humble is not a first grade IMHO. He won't find a starting position at any club in the NRL.

I haven't seen a replay but my memory was he had his arm ready for an offload and either lost control or had it knocked out by the Jet's defence. If there was a support player on hand it was probably try time. I'm not sure he intended to dump the ball out though but as I said that's only based on my memory of the play.

It was a risky offload/loss ball in a bit opposition traffis around the halway line from memory….mid set, poor play
