The next 7 weeks will be critical to our season…

I must admit the performance of the Wests Tigers during the first 6 weeks of season has far exceeded my expectations...The team is performing brilliantly and looking like a ‘Potter” coached side rather than what Sheens dished up.

The team looks happy, the team is playing very different to the past, and of course we have won 4 or 6 games, have played great for 10 of 12 halves...

The dreaded injury curse seems to have struck the team again this year with long term injuries to key players. The next 7 weeks will be crucial whilst our key players are out. After round 13 we should get the majority of our long term injured back and if we can hold it together during the next 7 weeks we could be set for a great season.

Over the next 7 weeks we have a bye and play 6 games. If we can snag 4 wins from the 6 games that will be a great result, with our long term injured returning we should be in good stead half way through the season.

Our next 7 weeks:

Eels– Win
Titans – Win
Roosters – Lose
Sharks – Win
Broncos – Lose
Bye
Knights - Win

I agree except i think will beat the broncos in campbelltown (in front of a surprisingly big crowd) as they wont have 6-7 players during origin. I have a feeling will lose to parra this week though just because robbie wont be there, otherwise we wouldve gave them a spanking.

If all goes to the OP's plans then will be sitting on 18 points with a bye and 12 games remaining. That would probably mean we need 10 more points to at least be guaranteed a top 8 spot. With the second buy guaranteeing us 2 points will needto win 4 out of our remaining 12 matchss.

If it doesnt go to plan (likely) and we win only 3/6 without half our spine, we would need to win a minimum of 6 out of our last 12 matches.

Our last 12 match opponents:

Souths (away) = loss
Canberra (home) = win
Penrith (home) =win
Manly (away) = loss
Dogs (home) = loss
Dragons (home) = win
Storm (home) = win
Cowboys (away) = loss
Roosters (home) = loss
Dogs (away) =loss
Canberra (away) = win
Sharks (home) = win

We are very capable of beating most of the opponents penciled in for a loss IF our players return from injury fit and firing and IF we continue to play the style were employing. In saying that IF the opposite happens and we lose focus and get to cocky, we are extremwly capable of losing those matches scheduled in for a win. Either way, sit back and enjoy the ride. Its gonna be a good one.
 
I'd be happy with 3/6.
4/6 would be fantastic.
I think we will find out alot in this coming month as to the strength of our depth.
 
I posted in another thread that the next few weeks while Farah and Teddy are out could be those that slipped away. Farah would've missed the Broncos game anyway due to Origin duties, so he's really only missing four games - Parra, Titans, Roosters & Sharks. Had he been there, I reckon we could win all four. However these next four loom as danger games. Parra and Titans are both playing with confidence, then the Roosters and Sharks are both under performing and will be looking to bounce back.

As we play teams in 4th and 1st in the next two weeks, if we win both we will sit EQUAL FIRST AT WORST (pending Bulldogs results)
 
I think this thread is overly optimistic. I Hope i am wrong.

RF is our heart and Soul and more so since we had a much needed Benji-Ectomy.

He runs our game and is a relentless competitor an that is infectious amongst such a young team.

Braith, Keith, Lawrence really need to go an extra level and if they can the young squad will follow.

My advice would be " Keep competing in every interaction and minimise penalties"
 
I don't see the doom and gloom some are predicting. Souths have shown that although they have lost Luke who provides them with the same sort of benefits Robbie provides the Tigers, and with a 'pig ordinary' back line, they still win games by dominating the forward clashes. We can do the same. I'm feeling O.K. for this week's game against the Eels. It'll be tough, but I think our forwards will eventually get on top of the Eels pack and our back line will score enough points to win us the game.
 
Don't forget, there is an extra week recovery time for Robbie as there are no matches on the weekend of the Aus/NZ test match.

By the time of the Sharks game he will have had 5 weeks recovery and will be itching to play so he is considered for Origin. Otherwise, we might see him back for the Broncos match if they don't pick him for origin. Optimistic, I know.
 
Our forwards have been unbelievable so far this year. We have been dominant in the majority of our games, thanks largely to them.

Losing Tedesco has cost us some scoring ability. Losing Farah will put more pressure on Brooks, which I am not sure he can take at the moment.

But if our forwards keep going as they have, we should still be able to win our fair share of games.

I still don't rate the broncos this year. Or the titans either.

We can be right up there if we can take a 4/6 out of these games.

I don't think the titans are a win either. They are leading the table for a reason. If our forwards keep rolling forward we are a chance in any game.

I agree with spartan, dont like getting ahead of ourselves, and like sabre think 50% win ratio during this period would be sufficient

Even if this occured I think its still exceed mosts expectations

A lot can happen when until teddy & farah can get back, and afetrwards….just enjoy it as it happens

I must admit though the ladder early in the season has never really interested me, but seeing us so high up is quite a sight for sore eyes...good to look at, even though we have the third worst 'against' stat
 
I am a glass half full type, but gee, if Farah joins Teddy for that period and we got four wins plus the bye, I would be way past over the moon with delight.

Together with us running a rookie half, I would be content with two wins in this circumstance, anything more being a bonus. We would still be in or on the cusp of the eight and in line with my hopes for the year, even after copping a bad rub with injuries (again).
 
Take each game at a time. Continue to play as we had in the last 6 games, that is with our forwards. The wins will come, don't take any game for granted, see you at the finals.DON'T be ahead of ourselves.
 
If we win half our gamed from here we will finish on 30 points, traditionally finishing about 6th.
8 more wins to make the semis, seems achievable
 
Luani should do well because what Farah has been doing that's been really contributing to our dominance (other than the creative try assists that I wouldn't expect from Luani) is pass to the forwards and run the ball when the markers aren't square. That's not that complex really. Farah has been doing so well this year because he's playing his natural dummy half game again finally.

Pass the ball to the halves when they ask for it but otherwise to the forwards and run when the markers aren't square. Luani from what I recall of him is your running type of dummy half anyway. If he can just come in and help the forwards continue doing what they're doing I expect he'll shine. He's no worse a defender than Farah either, hits much harder and trained as our dummy half more than Farah did in the off season so he should have absolutely no worries slipping into the forwards game plan.

I say this because obviously people are assuming Farah's loss will be critical, and the loss of such a creative player inside the opponents 20 will be of detriment of course but assuming Brooks and Anasta are capable of putting in grubbers that bounce off legs and throw face balls to forwards that are already hitting holes, his try assists should just go to them and Luani is quite capable of handling everything else.

I'm quietly confident the ship will sail on.
 
farah made at least 5-6 cover tackles 1 on 1 against cowboys. 2 of them against tamou. he reads the game really well in attack and defense- we will miss that.
 
A win without farah would be massive

That said just hope we play well

Play well and if we lose its not like in the past where we have suffered total meltdowns and have had to go back to square one.

We take confidence out of this _first_ game without our (C) it augurs well for the rest of the period without him
 
Well said Ink. As long as we stay in the fight and give ourselves a chance.
 
We will know a lot more after Monday,no Farah and no Teddy, where will our attack come from. In my view we need Austen at no 6 to provide some spark. Anasta has been good but without our two main attacking players I just can't see who is going to create the space????

I really see us having no attacking game except the bomb. I see a vey hard month or so andI expect Parra to win without to much trouble .

The injury god has killed us again
 
If the forwards can keep doing what they have been doing we will give ourselves a chance in any game. They have been the key and everything else has worked off the back of them.

At the moment I am just looking at the next two weeks and think one win will be great (and very achievable). That would leave us on 5/8 heading into the rep weekend. If you had offered me that at the start of the year I would have taken it for sure.
