Obsession describes it perfectly. People are disturbed he's on good money despite signing when at the top of his game. I'd guess even Nofo would concede 2021 wasn't his best year but I think he was still top try scorer and featured regularly in the top metre, post contact metre and tackle break metrics.
Defensively you have to remember he was parked outside AD, JTJ, Joey and LL for most of the season - all of whom have been crucified for their poor defensive reads and missed tackles.
**When playing at his best Nofo is a SOO level player.** All we need is the coach to get him playing at his best and he'll be considered a bargain. Maybe we need Ted Lasso.
I'd be happy to see Cotric in the centres, but again it will require someone to get him back to his best.
He's ok on his (rare) day, but Nofo won't ever be a SOO level player.
No matter who is inside of him he would make bad judgements.
Even if someone got him playing at his best he wouldn't be a bargain - massively overpaid.
Unfortunately can't shop him around because nobody would be silly enough to pay him so much ... unless we kicked in.
I think it does matter who plays inside him. The best teams don’t need their wingers to make defensive decisions, because they rarely get caught with 2-3 man overlaps.
He’s never going to be Trevor Gillmeister but if you take the decisions out of his hands and he just holds his wing he should be able to do a job. I think a large part of his problem is that he doesn’t trust his inside defenders (which is probably fair enough), and he panics which compounds the problem.
Agree Bones. Nofa's lack of trust must be contagious because it has infected the rest of his "team mates."
Can I take you back to a time before Benji left (the last time he left.)?
Nofa was interviewed by bloke in the bar and when asked if he knew anyone apart from Benji who played golf? After some serious deliberation he could not name a single one, not one!
As a result Benji and Nofa played footy the same way they golfed. At times Benji looked past two or three backs to get the ball to Nofa, even if it meant kicking to the corner.
My point is, those two built teamwork out of trust, which grew from them knowing each other, Golf is a wonderful bonding game.
