Personally think he's a winger but he hasn't got much to beat in the centres with us.

Well, Laurie is overrated so I’d disagree with that if Cotric looked the goods.

Laurie keeping the seat warm for Logen Dillon.
I expect him to work on defence in cup and be ready for the role 2023.

He's almost as good looking as Cotric too.

He's 26 and averaged 142m a game while being in the top half dozen or so players in the comp for average post-contact metres (Paulo, Josh Papali'i, RCG, Arrow, Foutaika, Tino, Kikau, JWH, JFH, Taupau, Burgess, Welch...similar to Isaiah Papali'i and Koloamatangi and trailing Haas, Klemmer and Fonua-Blake). Seems more than handy to me.

Exactly, more impressive when you consider the crap side he played in.

Expect him to bounce back and really make the most of it at the Tigers.

His attitude will be more of a hinderance than a help.You add nothing to the team while you are suspended and when you consider the money he is on it is very poor value.Sorry i am off topic this is in regards to thomo

What mongrel? It’s a term that’s constantly thrown around that is never defined. What does he do that describes mongrel? He has a poor judiciary record if that counts.

Its an intangible quality. From what I've seen it's his aggression and intensity.
When he runs the ball he wants to run someone over. In defence, he doesn't seem interested in meeting the attacker, having a hug and then lying down together.
You're spot-on about his rap sheet though. Seems like he needs to focus on his own/teams game-plan and not let the opposition into his head and dictate how he plays. Far too often it results in a Total Catastrophic Nuclear Brain-Fart.
I'm happy if we get him for the right price, but not unhappy if we don't.

I think he is exactly the type of forward we have been crying out for for years. Not only is he aggressive but he has great leg speed and power.

Sometimes you need 1 guys that will start the fight that drags everyone else in. That’s what I see Thompson doing for us.

Yep, we’ve got two if he signs, him and Muzgrove, they can tag team.

The good mongrels get away with it and every team needs them. The kind of guys you hated playing the most because they were always overly physical and loved the battle. Ennis was a classic.

That willingness to compete..and compete hard.. he showed that last year but I agree the judiciary side of things could be an issue.

I think it's a quality similar to JWH with the Roosters. They may not be the best in the team or the most skillful, its the ability to lift the forward pack through aggression and dominating the other teams pack. Unfortunately it means they meet the judiciary occasionally. Most good teams have a player like this, we have no legit "mongrels" in our pack atm. Most opposition packs wouldn't fear playing us.
