Fisherman’s wharf on the Gold Coast, seen Nirvana as a support act to the Violent Femmes as well as hoodoo gurus & hunters & collectors. Powderfinger at the Paddo Barracks every second Friday (with $3 bucket of spirits), Hole at the Roxy, 2 Live Crew at Berties, very different times. Always loved going to Twin Towns, Larry Carowa used to work there & is a bigger legend off the field as he was on it.

Nirvana and the Violent Femmes in Jan 1992, my 1st ever concert experience at the 1st ever big day out.

Wasn’t it the Violent Femmes as the headline act with Nirvana as a supporting act?

Yeah it was. Nirvana stole the show.

Good times. I was there in the Hordern for that as well. In the presence of Nirvana all the bands were on fire that night and went all out as Nirvana had just hit the big time to be one of the biggest bands in the World. You am I and yothu yindi were great. Personally I thought Celibate Rifles who came on straight after Nirvana stole the show.

Scone Golfies is where it was at! Only big name band i ever saw there was the Choir Boys and they were pathetic!!

Used to catch the train into central some Friday nights with some mates I played footy with we were still at school in 4th form. We’d walk down to the civic hotel there was a small bar at the back where a couple of resident musos would play. Got to know them and they would go from the civic around to the Kiwi club and let us carry some stuff in for them to get us in. Great memories 1975

I always avoided the golf club, too big of a chance of running into teachers there lol. I usually headed into Muswellbrook to the Prince or Eaton's or the Royal. They usually had decent cover bands at the Prince of Wales, I even played there a few times myself.

My younger brothers would have been at the Golfies around the same time as you Pat as they loved the place.

Well the Choir boys supported Bon Jovi on their Slippery when Wet tour at Sydney's Ent Cent. I should have left right before Bon Jovi began. What a crap show that was. Choir Boys were terrific though.

Seriously amazing times watching some of the best gigs at all those above mentioned joints as well as The Bayview tavern Gladesville which saw bands such as INXS ,chisel amongst so many other bands Narrabeen Antler was known for the Oils residing for a good while, ***The joint (name escapes me at the moment)at Dural*** had many gigs as well. The Manly Vale did its stuff as well as The Venue at Dee Why

Pokies and State Govts certainly killed those wonderful musical moments

The Vicar of Wakefield is the pub at Dural that you are thinking of, my old stomping ground

Nirvana were actually the 3rd headliner on the main stage. Violent Femmes the headline act, Yothu Yindi 2nd and Nirvana 3rd.

Main stage was the hordern pavilion that had a capacity of about 7k and the big day out sold about 10k tickets. I am sure everyone squeezed into the hordern for nirvana.

It was amazing to be there, hard to believe it was my 1st concert experience lol. I'm actually a massive Violent Femmes fan and they were the reason I was there. I have seen them so many times over the years, the last being a couple of years ago at the Evan threatre at Panthers. The Nirvana set will always be very specially because it was a one off and was just so wild.
