No New Signings until 2017 - Jason Taylor Statement

2015 will be like the back end of 2014, their will be games like the dogs game where they blow teams off the park, with the likes of Teddy and Moses having a picnic, but in the main they will not be able to handle the grind, their defensive structures will not hold up due to inexperience and physically and mentally they will hit the wall.

I am not so worried about the players we lost rather than the players we did not sign. We did not need much, a player life Hoffman who left the Storm would have been great, a seasoned top notch backrower. Lets face it since Ellis departed, we have steadily headed downwards.

I admire peoples optimism, but if things go pear shape in 2015, some of our junior "super stars" could be scared for life

What a load of crap. Who's to say 2015 won't be like the front end of 2014?!

At the back end of 2014 we had 3-4 FORWARDS IN OUR BACKLINE!! An utterly ridiculous situation which lost us games, with backs (ever younger ones) we would have won an extra 2-3 games at least and been really pushing for a top 8 spot.

Next season we will have backs, decent ones, in the backline, the equal best spine we've ever had (with 2005) and probably the best front row rotation we've ever had.

It was our experienced players who single-handedly lost us games last year. Players who have mostly now gone. The younger players made some mistakes too but it was mainly the old timers letting the team down.

Too many telegraph journos in here who can't see the forest from the trees. Yes our kids will make mistakes next season and yes that will probably cost us a game or two but our team across most of the park is superior to the 2014 version, and off the park its infinitely better.

And our kids don't compare to any kids we've had before. Even the ones in 05 who won us the comp weren't this good. These kids are better, many will adapt quicker, and while some will fade away, sure, more will sink than swim than is usually the case with junior talents.

Oh and we didn't need much, just a premiership winning, state or origin and international forward in Hoffman? Is that all? :unamused:

Yep I can see us being in the mix for 6-10 position if all are fit.

Injuries will be what could hurt us.

No such thing as tenth place in this competition. First through eighth qualify for the actual competition in September, the rest finish on equal sixteenth.

With that logic you could argue that in the end there is only one winner and that 15 teams all finish equal 16th. :/

I don't agree with this though , if anything they will learn plenty for the experience given.

A couple losses and everyone will start agreeing with you. It doesn't take much to sway people's emotions. Idk why this post got labeled a load of crap. Stevie Wonder would be able to see how up against it we are. Reading some of the comments in this thread, if you just crash landed from Mars and read this, you would think we'd finished in the top 4 this yr and added 4 or 5 Origin players for next yr.

I'm not being negative, just realistic. We're on the second last line of betting to win the comp for a reason. We'll have our moments, i have no doubt. But there's no way i can see us winning more than about 8 games with that roster.

You mean there is a team below us….pity them 😱pen_mouth:

Traditionally love us with the underdog tag...favouritism never sits well...Makes victory all the sweater...

Whose market are you looking at GNR? Because on Sportsbet we're at $26 to win the comp, equal with Newcastle and ahead of 5 teams - Cronulla (surprisingly), St George, Parra, Gold Coast and Canberra.

I preferred it when we were strong, expected to win all the time..and generally did…got used to that very quick and so did the fans at the games

I doubt it Ink , 2011 we started the year Premiership favourites when we just signed Blair , didn't even make the 8 with that supposed star studded side :unamused:

I think that when Farah, Tedesco, Simona, Moses, Brooks, and Nofauluma are all fit and firing, they will certainly be able to punish teams who are having an off night. Given a sniff of opportunity these guys are still capable of turning momentum the length of the field in a hurry. What concerns me is that the opportunities will depend more on opposition errors than the Tigers' ability to force the gaps open.

I think we'll have some fun wins next year, but they'll be more like our Easter long weekend game against Parra when Brooks and Richards both scored length of the field intercept tries. I'm not convinced we can dominate a good side playing well.

Still, there's months or running up sand hills ahead of them with a new coach. I will be there at every home game with fingers crossed our boys can get the job done without too many injuries.

With your Dad

That is the problem Cos , we should be fielding a team that can match every side all full strength whether the opposition shows up on the night or not

Not a side that will rely on the opposition not playing to their optimum performance to be in the game

If the
Bulldogs
Storm
Roosters
Souths
Cowboys
Penrith
Manly
Warriors
Broncos

play at anywhere near their best we will probably lose unless we shoot the lights out (or their star players )

Ha, yes so did I. It was amazing, that second half of 2005 in particular, but also some of the later years like 2010 and 2011 marching into games confidently expecting a win. Distant memory.

Were not Wests Tigers favourite for the wooden spoon at the start of 2014? We didn't do too bad considering all our hurdles.

I didn't understand it then , No your right i would prefer that every week , i also enjoyed it as well , it feels like a distant memory .

Ok,Ink,Cos,FT,I completely see where you are coming from with your input to this thread…..

I have also said in another thread that the team looks more inexperienced than experienced, however I'm willing to let JT sort out the team to field in 2015 and rely on his coaching and co ordination to select the fittest, keenest players who want to play for the club and fans..They have to want to be there and play consistently week in week out in one of the most gruelling comps in the world..not an easy tasked as has been proven with our run of injuries...hopefully the new developments in the club such as S&C,new board and assistants in the coaching department will see a more professional outfit on the field and off it..a whole new mindset throughout the entire club, granted we will not win every game every week but the young guns will gain heaps of experience the more they get on the field, hopefully the senior players will help by leading by example and backing the younger ones up as best they can...I'm trying to be positive and look to a much improved WTs team as well as coaching staff and admin,we are going to get beat a few times but as long as right across the board from players through to admin they do their very best...then I will be pleased...
