No New Signings until 2017 - Jason Taylor Statement

Its only brainwashing if you tell them who to go for. Most kids just cheer for who their parents cheer for, it rubs off on them. Thats not brainwashing.

any kid living under my roof better shape up and follow the tigs or ship out.

4 pages for a quote one poster said they heard on a radio station with ratings that SBS Radio would be embarrassed with? I'm not saying he didn't say what was suggested in the OP but I'd rather hear something more concrete. JT's official statement the other day certainly wasn't along those lines

It feeds into it.

His statement the other day? He said there was cap room and while he didn't want to make promises or guarantees, a signing was possible.

What!?

he said hes going to bunnings to buy some rope do you want some too?

No I will be following another club in 2015\. I will however keep an interest in Wests Tigers and hope against all probability that they don't win the wooden spoon.

Do supporters now think that that Wests Tigers owe us an explanation as to what REALLY is happening?

That's soft if you're going to follow another club Newtown , just hang in their and lay low like the rest of us !

That's right Hobbo, normally I would not expect much to be told to
Members , as some dealings with prospective signings could be jeopardised by too much info being made public.
But in this instance where a coach and officials are making statements as they have, I can't see any decent player even thinking of coming here ( unless we do what we did with Blair ,and pay out double their worth for someone who takes the money and gives nothing for most of their time here)
Any decent player would run like hell if his Manager even mentioned Wests Tigers.

So it would no more damage to the club to come clean and let members know just what has gone on to get us to this situation where we say publicly that we can not buy any one for the next two years .
Why was Mayer trying to buy players when we didn't even have a Coach ? Why didn't he know what the real situation with the club was?
Or did he?
What put us in this position? ( it certainly can't be blamed on the players, as they don't pay out the money)
There's a lot of questions to be answered , and I dont want to hear the usual "this is the first I've heard about it"
Stop treating us like mushrooms!!!!!

Probably been used on extensions and remodels of the boards palaces

Did he say that? The only thing i heard him say is that there weren't going to be any new signings, only in a much less blunt fashion.

Cronulla have plenty under the table backers ,as do most of the top clubs.player managers know who and where to ring when their players are on the move .wests has always been run with a raffle ticket mentality .as for the people who want to jump ship .ariverderci .have patience , we have a great spine .with plenty of up and coming young guys coming through .have some faith In the new s and c man .we were competitive and we did beat souths , penrith ,flogged the dogs until our injuries hit .taylor knows what he is doing , I'm glad we haven't splurged out and paid massive overs for players who are on the outer at their clubs .

It is simply not a fair competition - WT will always be in the also-ran category. I've given up hoping for anything other than mediocrity from this club.

The NRL is the new Premier League. The rich get richer and the poor starve. Look at all the top teams, all backed by millionaires. There's no way a team like us signing Josh Drinkwaters yr in yr out can compete with teams poaching guys like Sam Burgess and James Graham from the UK, and being able to keep a spare 500K in the wallet for a rainy day.

Just thinking back

Both our last two biggest external signings have walked out of contracts early (Blair and Ellis )

How many WT's players since 2008 have not completed their full contracts or have had contracts pulled ??

So many names come to mind when you think about it

And I wonder how much Moses ,Brooks ,Tedesco etc are going to put up with losing lots of football games in 2015 and 2016

Maybe we should be relegated to the champions league !

That's right, it's not a bad side, but it's not a great side either and we'll be stuffed when injury strikes.

Good on JT calling for what it is its a start and i for one will support the tigers no matter what . We all called for change now we have it so stay and support the tigers.

Jack Gibson said that winning starts at the front office, I just wish if there is anybody in the front office they would let the supporters know WTF is going on.

When Taylor got the job he said he needed to sit down, look at the roster, watch some footage and go from there.

From this I feel he decided Blair is a waste and found a taker in the Broncos. He probably has a few others he considers no good but no one will take them. Gavet was basically sacked before Taylor arrived, and once Jason was told why the club wanted Gavet gone he agreed, and Austin leaving had more to do with something kept quiet rather than his desire to play 6.

I also think with viewing the footage he now feels that there are no players on the market that are better than the youngsters we have coming through when you consider ability coupled with price tag.

I'm happy we have a coach and a guy in Moss who Identify this and back what we have rather then sign overs for useless players, or players that aren't quite worth what it will take to get them here.

There is a great battle for a number of positions with good talent amongst the candidates.

Great move by Jason Taylor and the coaching director to not waste money on a FPN or pay overs for SKD.

It's refreshing to read a post with thought and positivity in it. There's been, far too much negativity on here lately. I like your reasoning and agree with all of it king sirro

I can only imagine that the club is going to offset backloaded contracts with the free cap space. This makes perfect sense to me, instead of shifting our liabilities to future periods, we can even it out now and it gives the club a more balanced Cap in 2016 then 2017

Teddy is the perfect example.

I'm guessing this is the case. I'm assuming there is a fair bit of coin involved with the likes of Farah, Lawrence and Galloway and the club has decided to wait until they have as much as coin as possible to go after a couple of marquee signings to fill the gaps around what will probably be the best spine in the competition by 2017 with Moses, Brooks, Tedesco and Cherrington all coming into their own.

That may be true, but if the news is right ,it means that some of this up and coming talent has another two years of being steamrolled and bashed , before getting some bigger, and better players around them, you couldn't blame them for asking for a release for "personal reasons" and getting it. why shorten your career for a dysfuntional club like this one

the spine is set of moses, brooks, teddy and farah.

imo taylor and moss are trying to make a structure around these players who have signed long term. even though moss is from penrith, it looks more like the melbourne storm sort of a model.

i hope im right.

i highly doubt JT and Moss are doing any of this without a plan. we'll see how it works out. we dont have facts and whether you agree or disagree with these decisions- it's change. we were 15th in 2013, we cant get worse, surely?
