Nofoaluma

I just get the feeling he will not have a bus ticket beyond this year.
Even a trade before June deadline might be on the cards.
Milne, Sue and Grant May be in the same boat.

We won 3/4 during the hardest competition start a team has ever faced and have had a monumental improvement in culture since last season.

If people don't feel Clearys selections are now vindicated, I don't know what it would take.

Spot on.

I like Nofo but I have to admit I'm not missing the fact he's not there.
We're winning and going good and it that means Nofo is stuck in Reggie's so be it.

I really don't care anymore who is in our team as long as we're solid, and I have confidence that Cleary will pick the right players (can't say I've ever felt that way before)

Nof's attitude in the ISP game last weekend wasn't good. He wasn't involved. He wasn't smiling. Yes he scored 2 tries, the first was put on a silver plate, the second he charged through non existent defence in the final minute of the game.
Take away that final long range at the death and he would have made well under 100m. That's well below his standards, especially for a reserve grade match. A poor read in defence where he rushes up for the intercept/big hit and gets nothing and they scored their only try. He needs to work on a number of things.
The fact he was barely participating int he team victory song shows he's not happy. Hopefully he gets his stuff sorted soon.
But no, he's not competing for a spot with MWZ. Nof has never played left wing.

I saw the last 30 mins, Nofo was well handled in attack until very late, I think he made a late line break of 20-odd metres then the try.

David Nofoaluma wears a smile that sits from ear to ear.

Casting an eye towards the lower stands at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, after the Western Suburbs Magpies’ 32-0 win over the Warriors in Round 5 of the Intrust Super Premiership NSW, there's little cause for concern for the speedy, yet tough, outside back.

Rusted-on fans clad in black and white wear jerseys from eras bygone, and in no uncertain fashion, they let their voices be heard.

The famed Western Suburbs team song rings around the stadium as Nofoaluma and the table-topping Magpies retreat to the sheds. The 24-year-old winger – with 89 NRL games to his credit – is, as the song suggests, a boy from the western suburbs.

And a proud one at that.

A Campbelltown junior who rose through the Magpies’ ranks before finding his NRL start at the Wests Tigers in 2013, Nofoaluma has been a mainstay in Brett Hodgson’s side to start the 2018 Intrust Super Premiership season – and, perhaps surprisingly so, not to his dismay.

“No, not at all. I’m not disappointed. It’s a rich foundation club with plenty of history, for me being a local junior and representing the Magpies coming through the ranks, it’s always nice to put on the colours again,” Nofoaluma tells NSWRL.com.au.

“One positive thing I can take out of [playing in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW] is that the Wests Tigers have a good side, with plenty of depth there.

“It’s not like I’ve been dropped back and the [NRL] guys aren’t doing well, it’s a sign that everyone’s putting in their best – that can only be a good thing for the club on a whole.”

Their NRL and Intrust Super Premiership NSW record combined, five rounds played, reads an impressive eight wins, two losses – a stark contrast to the start of the club’s respective 2017 seasons.

Only a year into his tenure, club coach Ivan Cleary – supported by Intrust Super Premiership coach and NRL assistant Hodgson – has made ‘winning’ a part of the norm.

“Winning is a big thing, and it quickly becomes a habit. A few of the boys here and there have touched on it, how Ivan’s made every training drill one that you want to be on the right side of,” Nofoaluma says.

“If we lose, we suffer the consequences by doing ‘penalties’. It builds that winning culture, you can see it already. It’s heading in the right direction as you can see, at both levels here at the club.”

A minor hiccup in the form of their one-point, Round 3 loss to the Wyong Roos, remains the only blemish on the Magpies’ record this season.

Putting together an aggregate scoreline of 76-4 in their two outings after that defeat though, Nofoaluma and the side will look to extend their winning run to three matches when they meet the North Sydney Bears in Round 6.

“The group of boys here, they’re all doing a fantastic job. To get back-to-back, strong wins, it’s a credit to all their efforts. 'Hodgo' [Hodgson] has always said that if we defend, our attack will look after itself,” Nofoaluma says.

“There’s been a few times there, throughout different stages of different games, where we’ve had moments where we had to dig it out… I think we’ve done that really well, in the past two weeks especially.

“We’ll take confidence from the past two weeks, and look to keep building. I guess the best thing for us is, at the moment, we’ve still got room to improve.”

Good attitude in situation he finds himself in.
Never had any doubt about him and his commitment and love for the club.
But I think that it has taken long time for penny to drop as to what is required by coaching staff. Defence is the issue that he still needs to address ….. but if that is fixed he is definitely better than ISP level .....
time will tell.

Love the analogy!!

Sadly there are too many who think because they live in a house, they know everything about real estate!

I’ll trust my realtor to make the correct decisions

Never trust a realtor

@underdog

LOL I know - people just don't like being told to pay more money for a property, then get sulky when they miss out….

I call it "Doing a Moses"
\
\
Back on topic though - I think people need to read between the lines and look at whats been alluded to - needs to train harder.

Yet I had one that sold the property for less than I was willing to pay, but did not officially offer as he told me that I needed to go higher again. I was certainly not happy to see that it sold for three thousand less than I had discussed and threatened to go to the seller if he was not dismissed immediately, which he subsequently was.

Price isn't everything. Terms are also of value.

Im negotiating a sale on one of my listed properties right now. 3 offers. The Highest priced offer has some BS terms to go with it that might nuke the sale.

The next highest offer is a slam dunk. The third one is just a crap offer on price and terms.

My owner is more than likely going with the second offer as the terms are ideal, and almost zero conditions on the sale.

😱pen_mouth: no idea how that relates to Nofoaluma but cool story bro…

Nofa is not kicking stones..good kid..

Nofo at least has the right attitude about his current situation. As long as he keeps working hard and remaining positive, he'll get back into FG eventually.

We're winning yes. I still reckon we would be playing better with Nofo.
The scrambling, close wins cost you in the long run. Our outside backs are not good at bringing the ball back and no one really threatens to break the line.
The problem I have with the whole #onthebus movement is If you criticize cleary while we're winning we're told "don't fix it if it ain't broke", if we criticize him after a loss, we're called fairweather fans. He has been amazing at recruiting but I think his selections aren't always great. And you can't say "oh everyone is judged on how they play" because it doesn't fit with the way Tui and Kev are always selected. We would be winning easier with Thompson in 1 and Nofo on our right edge. Look at Nofo's stats and just watch the games and you'll realize that he brings so much to our team.

I think the “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” approach is the opposite of what we are doing, it was broke and we are trying to fix it. What we were doing before wasn’t working and Nofa was part of that hence he is one of the changes.

I do agree that he is definitely 1 of our our top wingers but there are deficiencies in his game and perhaps he hasn’t managed the changes Cleary has made as well as others.

I’ve no doubt he will be back because as you’ve said his stats and what he offers in attack are awesome and he will be needed for us to go deep into the season as front runners.

You misunderstood. What I meant by the "if it aint broken dont fix it" is that people on the forum dont really accept that we criticize the team when its winning,

He'll either get back in FG or his manager will find someway to move him on to another club. I think you are kidding yourself if you think he will stay happily loyal in reggies.

The coach should break up a winning team and shaft players that are breaking there backs for the TEAM making way for FAN favourites .
This is the era of the TEAM not individuals , if certain players do not like it I hear there could be openings out Parra way !

There’s just no where for Nofo to break into FG right now. His defence needs a lot of work and Thompson will not make way with how he’s been playing of late.
Could be a while before we see Nofo again.
