I would suggest before this thread has a chance to be derailed, that anyone wishing to make comment, **please be thoughtful and considerate**. This thread will not be allowed to degenerate into a slanging match, it will not become another Balmain V Wests argument and trolling will not be tolerated.

If you have something to say, please keep it to within forum rules. I do not wish to close this thread, but based on previous experience, these issues tend to blow out of proportion quickly and unneccessarily, so please don't let that happen here and try to remain objective.

(Just let me say im not one for forgetting our roots and were we came from, im proud of what our club was built on this is just my thoughts at present)

After reading this thread which seems to be similar in sentiment to many others, there is part of me that believes that old maggies supporters (which I don't say derogatorily) or supporters who feel the wests side is not represented enough will never be happy.

If its not the magpie on the sleeve its the amount of black or white or orange on our jerseys or merchandise or the lack of support for the macarthur region or the amount of wests juniors playing for wests or the conspiracy from our CEO to eradicate wests magpies from existence ect, ect.

If you really want to be 50/50 and equal to both sides of the merger there should be a magpie on one sleeve and a balmain tiger on the other, coz, i acknowledge wests lost alot out of the merger but so did balmain, including THEIR identity.

Wests and balmain lost alot, yes. But look what we have now gained. After all the heartbreak of seeing our old teams having to merge and the very hard early years of the WT look at what we have now-a respected, professional and competitive team to call ours. Something old wests and balmain supporters haven't seen for a long time.

On the brink of our most promising season ever, we have so much to look forward and be excited about I can't believe another subject like this has come up to leave a sour taste in all supporters mouths.

Up the mighty WT

Couldn't agree more.

Please stop now….all this infighting is making our club look ridiculous.

lets break it down as simply as we can…

WESTS represents the "Western Suburbs Magpies"
TIGERS represents the "Balmain Tigers"

do you see people complaining that 'balmain' isn't written on the jersey?

also, the jersey was YELLOW!!! yes, YELLOW!!... there is nothing foundation about the jersey at all! cry about the colour, not a missing magpie that no one can see anyway..

let go, wests magpies in the nrl are gone.. as are the balmain tigers...
we are the WESTS TIGERS!!

Do you hear people complaining the word 'magpies' is not in the name?
Same thing

**Try and respect what others find important…we are all different**

um, yeah, because i was so disrespectful and all…

for 'foundation round' or whatever, its an ample opportunity for the club to have a black and white or black and organge jersey... there is NOTHING foundation about yellow. yet the focus is on a 5cmx5cm logo? please!

That 5cm logo means a lot to many people mate

galah, you are completely missing my point..

our current team, the wests tigers, have jerseys made up of black white and orange….

we ran out in a jersey during heritage round or whatever wearing yellow. we may as well have been called the la lakers for the day...

magpies , the logo could have been an eel , both clubs are now one , the tiger is a marketing dream thats why parra wanted to merg , we are the wests tigers now my balmain side is gone and its about time we all worried about wests tigers only

This threads not about the yellow jersey…theres been plenty of dixcussion - mainly negative- elsewhere about it.
This is about the missing Magpie....its important to some of us
Thanks.

I can't believe that after 12 years this is still an issue. We all lost something very precious when Wests and Balmain became a joint venture but surely now it's time to MOVE ON. We are the most successful joint venture club so let's all put our full support behind the Wests Tigers.

Its not about hanging onto something from the end of 1999, its about something very small on the WT jersey that means something to alot of WT fans (yes WT fans). Being vocal about something that has been on the WT jersey since day one is NOT a wests vs balmain thing. PLEASE stop linking everything to people 'not getting over things' or people creating this so called wests v balmain crap. The small magpie on the sleeve represents a link to the history of WT just like the tiger. Please respect the feelings of others by NOT telling people 'to get over the past' when the magpie on the sleeve HAS ALWAYS been on the WESTS TIGERS jersey. Its nothing new!!
