NRL admits bunker mistake

One thing I find that is really puzzling is that with all the dramas going on in the NRL, where the hell is Andrew Abdo?

I mean, he is the CEO of the NRL and not so much as a peep out of the guy.

You would think he would at least report on hat sales or how something or other is going.
Yeh they skip Abdo and use the chairman who calls our team Balmain to to be the spokesman 🤔

Just came back to see if anyone had seen or heard more about this. Here and fox sports are my only sources....

I did see the ARLC was getting involved, which was encouraging, but I've seen very little the last few days and that concerns me.

The most likely outcome I think it is looking like is they will wait it out (as is so often the case) until people don't care any more and either nothing will come of it (inconspicuous little article somewhere) and they will let it go, or it becomes a huge legal process that isn't decided until next year or whenever.

In any case, the tigers need to recognise this stage of the situation and keep it in the public eye. Give updates, pressers... Whatever, but they need to keep it in focus so it's obvious it won't go away.

For the tigers as a club, it's fans and the nrl as a whole, this issue needs to be dealt with soon or else it is at great risk of becoming either simply forgotten or a very hollow victory if points are awarded to them retroactively.

It'll be mid summer or next season and the tigers will get 2 points and no one will care any more.

... And we'll all have forgotten about our free lunches! 🤣

Everyone will care, a precedent could be set, people can go. i agree with mostly everything except the SOON factor. Stop being impatient, we’re all waiting.
Keep the pressure up. Good post

I really think the decision needs to be made as soon as possible.

If it isn't resolved soon there will be too much impact on the competition and it just won't happen.

I don't think it will be soon, and if not, I don't see how the result could possibly be reversed (which I think a lot of people believe is right).

Let's say the ultimate decision is to reallocate the 2 points; teams need to know to prepare for the finals. It could be the difference between a final in Townsville or not for the cowboys.

What if NQ wins the comp and later the decision is they lose those two points?

Plenty of questions/possibilities I think the nrl would rather not be there.

Why have we not had a statement from our club, as to what is going on. are they trying to do something for there supporters, or have they like the N.R.L. just decided to keep quiet and it will go away, makes me feel like the club I have supported for 70+ years, could not care less about its supporters.

According to our Legal Eagle Chairman, he doesn't rate supporters, only members. Word on Burwood Road is that he has already got the members their complimentary Wooden Spoon caps and doesn't want to look like a fool if we come 15th.

They have engaged a QC and are still waiting for a reply from the NRL regarding their request of a full report and audio and video of the decision. The Commission has also requested a report from the NRL so I would imagine the NRL won't do anything until they hear back from the commission. There is very little the club can do at this stage other than apply for a court order for the information to be released.

Cool. Personally I just wanted some sort of idea about what was happening.

Thanks very much @diedpretty

If the tapes still have not been handed over then subpoena them and publicly ask Mr Annesley where our promised tapes are. For me WT's finding out what happened from those tapes and enforcing our legal rights is more important than the season itself. Don't care about commercial decisions we need to pursue this one on principle. Something smells.

Looking forward to the Big A explaining why Carrigan is going straight to the judiciary yet all the ref could manage was to penalise us before the Bonker stepped in to merely reverse the penalty. Why no 10 in the bin or send-off for Carrigan? Yet last week Klown was salivating to send Maulmalo to the bin for accidental contact. Champagne Bunker Shenanigans at its best.

I’ve said it before but the secret outcome we should be fighting for isn’t the 2 points , but to have the nrl make a conscious choice to officiating our games fairly . If it is unconscious bias , that’s fine , then there needs to be a conscious bias in turn . Eg. the ref makes a bad call against us because of his unconscious bias . The rest of the game he consciously makes decisions in our favour to counter act that .
South’s clearly had this happen to them . Same as NQ this year .
This is the real outcome we should be asking for .
It’s beyond bullshit that we have to ask for this , but in todays nrl his is the only way to even get something remotely fair . Even though it’s absolutely unfair to the teams we are playing .

Said it before and I'll say it again. Follow the $$$, that $200k bet on Cowboys just before the match started needs to be explained and hopefully shown not to have influenced any actions. Then we come down to incompetence / bias by bunker official / onfield ref and finally NRL officials inc Annesley et all.

In fact Id be taking out an injuction on the competition proceeding beyond this weekend unless the unedited audio, transcripts, the matching of events to the official timeclock and preliminary NRL opinion handed over to WT by Thursday this week immaterial of ARLC finding- definitely use the reasoning of timing and impact on the season for everyone competing regarding the 2 points outcome. Also- bring up the soft whistle Annesley reasoning, if its not used in every match outcome include that as NRL fob off of fair outrage

Edit- Ill assume the bunker officials mobile phone records have been checked.

🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯

When the ferry leaves circular quay , the horse has bolted, to late, ticket or not.
When the nrl decides to play on past full time with no time left on the clock,it’s to late , the game was already completed , game over.
This is the result the WT want to prove in court ,to set a precedent , 2pts will be the result of that, we’ll hope so . Not just for us but the make up of the top 4 & 8,plus who plays home and away. Apart from avoiding the spoon 2 pts mean little.
The Judge can only adjudicate on current existing rules, supported with evidence . AFL done exactly this.
