NRL INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT REVIEW ON WESTS TIGERS

Disagree.

Virtually all proposals re recruits and who to let go are vetted by the head coach.

Including the cool attempts to keep JAC and Marty, the signings of Reynolds Packer, Gildart Tamou, Ballin, Mcqueen and others.

Given what was available at the time once the coaches approached the board with their recommendations they just went with it.

Name an instance when the board pushed for a recruit ahead of the coach?

Any complaints of the board must be in regards their selection of coaches.
Untrue, the board's role is the set the direction of the club and oversee its implementation. We are unable to stick to a plan that was established 12 months ago and have started to undermine that plan. That is on the board and senior management.

Nothing in my post is untrue.

My criticism of the board is their inability to stick to a plan, to a direction. I have been extremely supportive of the board and senior management of the club. Until they started second guessing their own plans and actively undermining them, once you start doing that you are done.
Fair enough your opinion.

Nothing big has changed imo. Benji is coaching while Sheens takes the hits and scouts for juniors.

The jury is our whether benji was the right call or if he will succeed.

Judging by his commitment and determination I hope so.

We brought Sheens in to make the big decision for the club, no one knows more about football than him. We then didn't seek his input on staffing. That is a massive change of direction, and it is not so much the Fulton appointment, but the fact they couldn't even make it 12 months into a 5 year plan.

They have stated that we are returning to the traditional home grounds, is that the next direction we will back flip on?

Its not the specific instances that are my concern, it is what those instances mean.

I don't understand why so many people here and on WT Facebook groups don't know this.
A lot of people seem to think the problem is Wests v Balmain factions on the board.

The problem is that the club is run by the Barnes Holman Group (Wests Ashfield) and they have no idea how to turn Wests Tigers fortunes around.

Wests Ashfield needs to get out. Sell Wests Tigers to private equity. Couldn't be worse.
It’s not even that they don’t know what to do to turn it round…they don’t care. Im not sure if it’s not a big money earner or what but they have never shown any inkling that they give a stuff.

You don't seem to understand how the first committee works, in relation to the coach and the board

I don't believe Fulton's appointment is a massive change of direction. The club was never going to keep every staff member for 5 years. It was thought Fulton's appointment may give the club a better connection to players management.

We'll see.

That's just speculation.

Are you interested in going on the Board, if possible?

The only reason we are all here is our passion and love for this club.

There is no point in anyone here venting their frustration and demanding there be changes made if they don’t get off their back side and actively do something about it.

First step is inform your self about the structure of this club and here is a link to help you:

What I find interesting from the link above is the following:

“To be eligible to vote or sit on the Holman Barnes Group board you must be a HBG General member for 3 continuous years.

Any adult in Australia can become a Holman Barnes Group (Wests Ashfield / Croydon Sports / Markets Club) Member - Click HERE to Join or renew”

Someone that is more legally educated, could you please explain to me that if a GENERAL member, a SOCIAL member and a FINANCIAL GENERAL member are any different? as the link only gives you the option of a Social membership. The constitution states that you have to be a FINANCIAL GENERAL MEMBER to have any voting rights.

Fellow Wests Tigers family this is where we start to make a change by understanding the clubs constitution and playing the long game which it looks like is 3 years. I can’t see things getting better within 3 years the way they are going.

Here are a couple more links for those that are interested in reading up on the clubs constitution and By-Laws:

Yep, there’s a kind of predicable unpredictability.

Not discussing it with the guy we brought in to make our football decisions is the change of direction.

The point is that I have no confidence in the board and senior management of this club to set a direction and stick to it. A board that can't do that is a weak board.

It's about roles and responsibilities. The board or senior management appear to have made decisions that you'd think they wouldn't make.

It's important to look at the other point of view though.

The board to my knowledge or what has been reported on here have taken the following actions:-

1. Bringing Fulton in without talking to Sheens.
2. Pushed Brooks out of the club.
3. Maybe this isn't worth mentioning but the Nofo contract and Lee being in the press about it was a poor decision for the club.

The thing is I think a lot of fans would agree with the first two actions that have been taken and at that point in time maybe even the 3rd decision.

I worked in a corporate environment and I'm used to seeing stuff like this happen. I'll say something else - a strong manager could probably handle these issues.

The problem is we aren't a strong organization at all at this point in time and issues like the board meddling or Sheens making dud decisions are highlighted. If we were the Rorters I think these issues would be trivial.
