Broncos forward Ben Te'o offers his services to fill halves spot
>
Brisbane Broncos forward Ben Te'o nominated himself as the potential saviour to Brisbane's halves dilemma ahead of Saturday night's grand final qualifier in Melbourne.
>
While shattered halfback Peter Wallace's 2009 season is over, Te'o is again fit and firing, and has urged Broncos coach Ivan Henjak to consider moving captain Darren Lockyer to No. 7 and handing him a shock cameo at pivot.
>
Henjak confirmed the hard-running backrower's bold plan for the Broncos' preliminary final mission against the Storm is among those to be debated at a tactical think-tank today.
>
Te'o, Dave Taylor and utility Alex Glenn are believed to be lead options for a halves cameo, while extended squad members, under-20s No. 7 Ben Hunt and ex-Origin rake PJ Marsh, also are in the frame.
>
Star No. 1 Karmichael Hunt and hooker Andrew McCullough are likely to remain in their current roles to minimise the impact on Brisbane's structure, although there could be further drama today with the NRL match review committee to scrutinise Hunt's reflex trip on Dragons pivot Jamie Soward in the 31st minute.
>
"I was just thinking about them pushing Locky into halfback and I'd go five-eighth - more of a roving role," Te'o said.
>
"I said to Ivan 'I can put up bombs, my short kicking game isn't too bad, I can pass right to left' … I'll see what he says."
>
Brisbane's brains trust, which numbers ex-halves Henjak, Allan Langer and Paul Green, and skipper Lockyer, will busily formulate the club's "Plan B" today.
>
"It's a difficult choice - they are all viable options," Henjak said. "It would be a big ask to bring someone into the team that hasn't been there for two months.
>
"We have a number of options. It will all depend on how we want to play and what game plan we come up with.
>
"We will have to play differently, Wal's such a big part of our game, but defensively we don't do a whole lot differently.
>
"We'll throw out different scenarios. I'll make the decision but everyone's got their opinion and we'll listen to all the options."
>
Hunt played halfback in early August in the club's record 56-0 mauling by Canberra, the last time Brisbane were without Wallace, but wants to remain at fullback.
>
"Hopefully I can, I'm comfortable in the role that I'm playing, but we'll just have to see what the coach wants to do," the AFL-bound star said.
>
Henjak confirmed Hunt's strong form, and his steadying hand for rookie fliers Jharal Yow Yeh and Antonio Winterstein, will ensure he remains in the No. 1 jumper.
>
Lockyer last night downplayed suggestions he was nursing a hamstring strain and said his side's Plan B must now revolve around defensive muscle.
>
Te'o, 22, tore his calf at training on September 1 but last weekend resumed running.
>
"I'm hopeful Ivan might be able to squeeze me in," Te'o said.

From fox sports website.

I can not stop laughing.

That guy is a deadset goose  …..makes me want to throw up , everytime I see and hear him on the Footy show....when I watch it....he is an embrassment

 :wahoo: :brick: Ben Te'o 5/8…..........why oh why did we let him go.............. :unamused:

Hahahahaha awwww dammit! Why did we have to let this guy go? This guy couldve solved our halves problems!

The minute I see him named at 6 I'll be off down the TAB to put money on Melbourne. He does stuff all unless his team is up by 40 points…

Dave Taylor?!

Sure, he's got some skills, but a 5/8?

If this goes down it'll be the funniest thing in the NRL ever. Tonie Carroll filled in at 5/8 when Lockyer has been out with injury before.

I reckon they should bring in PJ Marsh to 7\. I doubt theyll wanna bring in Ben Hunt from the 20s considering they have their own prelim match to play

ahhh te'o

they could always move harmichael since he's escaped suspension for sticking the leg out :unamused:

To be fair Teo saw that the Broncos pack played with fire and aggression for the full 80.

Teo knows thats just not his go. He knows he would be most valuable running at centres and pulling off big hits against little guys. Thats his bread and butter

   Sorry but

Taylor played in the halves and centres right throughout his junior footy. He would go okay skills-wise, but his fitness would be an issue.

Carroll will most likely play 5/8\. Melb by a 1000, followed by a Melb win over Parra in the GF.
