I'm sure it's been said by many, but the NRL is in big trouble this year. It's great seeing the skills of Mitchell, Paps and Teddy, but these matches are dire. Typical scoreline seems to be about 38-6 these days and even in early stages of matches you can see that scoreline coming. How did it get so bad? Is it that the new rules just make it hard for bad teams to have a good day? Even then, that doesn't really fully explain it to me. Rarely seen such predictable results.

The NRL talent pool has diminished over the last few years ..
Stringer clubs manage to hang onto there star players and also have the means to acquire the better players ..
My 2 cents

The talent is there. It’s just truncated into a few teams that seem to have a never ending cap. It’s becoming ridiculous. Rorters, Storm, Rabbits - crazy rosters.

Never ending cap is a bit harsh describing melb.

73. minute, Papenhuyzen gets back into the field of play with Munster back to make sure he does. Two great players. Smith as well has made crucial tackles in the game.

They have a proven history of doing whatever it takes to maintain a superior roster. Nothing has changed.
My point is that this needs to be addressed as there needs to be a natural cycle off achievement and rebuild. This no longer happens with the power clubs. Their rebuild takes about 4 weeks. Already this year the top 6 is a given. Why will fans continue to support when they know there is no chance?

I agree with the state of the comp. I think the NRL are turning a blind eye to it. Possibly happy for some clubs to perish.

Only 40 pts?... A very underwhelming and disappointing performance by the Storm.
That said, can't wait to see my Bonco's mates faces at work after they were so smug beating the All-Powerful Doggies last week...🤣

Just how bad does that make the dogs look
Brisbane beat dogs well
Melbourne smash Brisbane
And Melbourne were off in the 1st 20 minutes

I don't really think this would be a deliberate strategy. There's no scenario where Brisbane getting flogged every week is good for the NRL financially.

Yep and that scares me. I do wonder whether the perish agenda is real. Not a nice thing to contemplate

Yeah the gap between the teams that have and those who have not is probably the worst I’ve seen in over 50 years of watching the game. Three blowout scores in as many games already this weekend doesn’t make for good viewing. The comp’s a joke, there’s no doubt they’re looking to cull some teams.
