I think they’re definitely more saying that... we already do these things and it’s been accepted + incorporated into many layers of our civilisation.

Our treatment and laws (now) regarding not just generally inclusive human rights are CLEARLY aimed at what the NRL is trying to do. Desperately trying! Doesn’t need to launch an offensive though by any means.

Large number of players would’ve already either made it known or had thoughts/plans of coming out to closest teammates at the least. Women in the game? Well, Katie Page seems popular...
