NRLW to get its first Transgender player next season -Updated

Will consider it when the first female who has transgendered to a male applies to play in the NRL.
Good to know you'll consider it Col.

You're a top bloke!!

But really - who cares about your consideration?

You & your fellow zealots have zero authority so go on & consider it all you like.... or don't!!

I might suggest you move to Warringah to vote for Deves - but you wouldn't want to slum it away from the picturesque housing estates of south west Sydney I assume.

So guessing you lot are taking a hard no to trans athletes?
If you are asking about biological males playing in a womens competition, then yes, it's a no from me. I don't see how any male could ever feel proud of his achievements if he were to dominate a womens competition. Having said that, i won't be losing any sleep over it.

That is about as pissant as your last response. Whatever. I don't find the topic of any particular interest, much less sparring with you. You go on continuing to get your panties in a twist about this issue that has absolutely no impact on your life.
Suggesting that stryker wears panties is way over to top.

If that ever happens then maybe complain about it then? Given how low the transgender population is as a whole it seems pretty unlikely your daughter would ever play with or against a transgender athlete in any given sport. It's not like a flock of men are suddenly going to redefine their genders so they can be more competitive at sport.

I also don't really see why people think it was so outrageous or gutless to leave the decision to the players. Why shouldn't they make the call? Seems like a bunch of people want to be outraged on their behalf at something that is not likely to be much of an issue. If the players want to exclude them then fine, they can own their decision.
Come on Nelson, really?
Is that how you do things, 'give it a go, see what happens'
That sounds like our town planners who erected a giant shoping centre before they upgraded the roads and traffic controls, now it's unsustainable.
If this goes ahead there will be opposition and a degredation of womens sport in this country. Why?
Because it's a women's sport that's why, not half and half or whatever the ratio is!
So let's jump right on in there, disregard all the feelings and emotions that most Australians have.
'Yes' I do believe it would have a down vote if it went to a referendum. If it was supported by the majority then I would be very disillusioned.
Sounds a bit over the top?
Well that's how I feel.
It's my right as a heterosexual male with old fashioned values that my family history have died for!

Absolutely a deplorable decision by the NRL....they make all the rules, fines suspensions in regard to the game, but step off making a decision whether a person born a male suddenly wants to be a woman and wants to compete against them for some form of identity....
There is but 2 genders MALE AND FEMALE,you are born either one or the other....if you feel the need to crossover to the opposite gender then feel free to do so,but also feel free to play against your own transgender to be fair to the naturally born genders...
And there is no malice in what I have stated its fact and its a topic that is getting far to much attention in an ever changing world of wierdness....
Well said, great post. Someone showing some commonsense.

Unless she transitioned pre-puberty, then it's a no. Which then brings up the ethics of parents pushing their kids for sporting advantage...

No, I look at data and try to make some assessment of whether there is actually an issue or whether things are being blown completely out of proportion. There is a small transgender population of which a small percentage will have an interest in playing the sport at any level. At the competitive level there could be rules that addressed eligibility as happened with Caster Semanya and her testosterone levels. Where there are competing rights and interests the best approach is generally to first try to strike a balance, not just write off the minority group. Also, the people whose opinions I would be interested in if I were deciding the issue would be women who are actually affected by it. Not yours.
Again, a small amount of the transgender population would have any intention of taking up the option of playing. However, their whole community gets lobbed into this issue which gets tossed around like a political football. People who have nothing to do with it make comments like "it's women's sport...not half and half or whatever the ratio is". I'm sure that makes them feel great. They already know that there is plenty of that kind of sentiment out there, this issue just shoves it in their face.
You can have your opinion. I am not sure why you think "most Australians" agree with it. The SSM vote (even though it's quite a different issue) would seem to suggest that a majority of Australians are more progressive in their thinking and don't necessarily think like a "heterosexual males with old fashioned values".

Why is it progressive to think voodoo and feelings should be respected over biological reality and science?

Whatever is on the birth certificate. No amount of surgery or hormones can change it.
Chopping off your willy for a man made vagina doesn't qualify you to run around with the ladies.
Lots of people are against all this but afraid to speak up in fear of being called a bigotted homophobe.
Even the NRL doesn't want to touch the issue.
